  • Asst. Chief Jessica Anderson provides an update on the conclusion of a fatal police pursuit in the 10600 block of Westheimer.
    Preliminary information:
At approximately 10:00pm on Thursday, May 9th, two officers from HPD's Westside Division were on their way to an Assist the Officer call when they observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed crash into another vehicle in the 1200 block of Richmond. Officers followed the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. The driver refused to pull over and continued fleeing the officers, crashing into a second vehicle in the 2800 block of Kirkwood. Officers continued following the vehicle to the 10600 block of Westheimer, where the driver, attempting to avoid a METRO bus, lost control and crashed into three additional vehicles. Four suspects jumped out of the suspect vehicle and officers pursued them on foot. Officers were able to detain two of the suspects. Inside the wrecked suspect vehicle, officers found an additional suspect in the back seat who was unresponsive. HFD transported him to the hospital where he was declared deceased. The two suspects in custody were also taken to the hospital for minor injuries. All of the suspects were males between 12 and 13 years old.

Thank you for posting the news. Unbelievable the kids are between 12 and 13 years old. Parents listen😅 Up! Your children MUST have your attention. If you are struggling in any area of being a parent, Respectfully, remember this, "an idle mind is the devil's workshop". Keep your kids busy.❤

I guess the parents of these kids think it is ok for them to be out like this and not at home, charge the parents with the kids death since they cannot supervise their kid, not HPD fault these little kids are out stealing cars and running from police after causing a crash where they could have killed an innocent person
