Yellow roses were my mother's favorite. I think that was a far more thoughtful gift than the standard dozen red. I'd have loved such a thoughtful gift for Valentine's day.

Valentine's day has always been a busy day for me at my Mom's shop. We get wierd requests all the time.
But with the delivery request in my hand, no one was ever upset with me.
I even had to sing a short excerpt once. "Only You" by The Platters to a lady in her office.
The receipient looked at me with a dreamy look on her face.
Another was the yellow tulips. Some co-worker sneered and commented about it being cheap. I snapped back at her and told her loudly that yellow tulips are far more expensive than red roses.
Any florist reading this knows that i'm not lying.

I'm so bad at remembering stuff like valentine's that if my husband wished me a happy Valentine's day in April I'd say thanks and wish him one too. And yes, I forget the anniversary date as well on a regular basis. one year we were celebrating because we were so happy we both remembered it. then as a joke I asked him what year we got married. He didn't remember. it's ok, I couldn't remember either.
Valentine's Day was the ONE day I was asked NOT to come work with the cats at the flower shop I used to volunteer at.

my husband went to the Military xchange this past week and had a karen in front of him. after she left he made the comment about her being a karen to the cashiers. the 2 young ladies laughed and were shocked he knew what a karen is. sadly I missed the festivities :(

Ok what’s the big deal about having to have a dozen red roses! My dad always gives my mom a single red rose and and Next year I plan on giving my girlfriend a single pink carnation for Valentine’s Day because I’ve always loved carnations representation of love that is constantly over looked and pink is her favorite color. Honestly flower are not even that important! One of the best valentines gifts I have ever received was a cheep valentines mug with a sloth in it. It may have not have been flowers or cost much but I could tell this gift came from the heart and that’s what matters!
*Story 1:* Even if *"karen's"* frustration over getting the wrong flowers was understandable, I see nothing to justify getting the police involved.
first story: Not that I understand the desire to have things just to make other people feel bad about not having them, but if it's about how much 'he loves me' wouldn't the attention to detail and care of choice be more desireable than just some generic thing that everybody got? The husband was so caring about the color and number and what they meant and someone who takes the time and effort to do that 'loves you more' than someone who just did the bare minimum of placing an order. So I guess the meaning was just completely lost on this Karen.

Story 1: Yeah, i can totally see why Valentines Day-week would be a nightmare for floral workers. Show someone how much you love them on some random cold day in February. As for the Kevin and Karen here... well hoenstly, i wouldn't consider the husband a "Kevin" here really, as he really did mean well and the symbolism of the yellow and white roses. The Karen on the other hand, what a complete snag. With her attitude, she should be lucky to get anything, and i certainly would not have given her a refund either. I would hate to see how this Karen is like on Mother's Day if this is how she acts on Valentines. The OP is right here too, you should see how many people use V-day as a form of status as opposed to actual appreciation.
Story 2: I swear, people go out to restaurants solely to cause grief and trouble.... and this "birthday" Karen is a great example of that. The moment that she announced that the OP "didnt care"... and why would you.... the OP shouldve been morally and legally allowed to tell that Karen to rack off. The whole 'service with a smile' crap gets abused so badly here... and she definitely shouldn't have had her food/drinks taken off of the bill either. People like that are just trying to scam free stuff.
Story 3: Here we have another table who just want to go to a restaurant to act like a total knob. The table knew everything closed at 9, so you can't reasonably complain or leave a negative review here. They didn't even want the drinks! Why should the OP make any kind of exception for them? Also, good on the assistant manager for talking the higher up manager/s about not having a disciplinary meeting over this. If the OP was going to be disciplined over that, they wouldve had every right to just quit on the spot. I know i would've. Think its time for the OP to get a new job.
Story 4: Okay, the OP's biggest mistake here was working for free or without payment in the past for her bf. While its still stupid to ask and expect someone to work for free, you now cant be throwing stones at the bf for expecting it over a 3-day festival. You've really fed into his poor behavior and business practices here. You worked for nothing before, so he's pretty much going to expect it all the time, especially on a big event like this one. The bf is certainly a jerk for his attitude and unwillingness to pay, but the OP is no saint either for allowing stuff like this in the past. This is big reason why people should be careful with volunteering, you'll always get used.
That karen is a MAJOR red flag. He went out of his way to make sure you got roses of your favorite color, with the two whites being your children. If i was his girl, i'd be crying in joy and happy he was so throughtful, and she stomps and spits on what he did.

I went out to dinner last night with my ex/best friend. It was a major milestone birthday for me. No, we didn’t feel the need to tell anyone at the restaurant. We ended up getting our server a commendation! It was so busy, especially for a Monday evening. Our server was just amazing. It was the second time in a row that this young woman had served us. Both times just outstanding service. It probably wouldn’t be much for a lot of people to write home about, but I’m a slow eater. Always have been. When I was a sever I didn’t even bother to sit down and eat. I’d just grab a bite when I had a second. Slow eaters can be a nightmare for most servers. You’re supposed to turn the table as fast as you can, with your manager riding your ass like it’s your fault. Instead, she was so warm and welcoming. She didn’t rush me. She didn’t stick a to go box in my face - that has happened to me on three different occasions. She just patiently and kindly got me another Coke. When I finished, ex had a full beer in front of him. I excused myself and I found the manager standing at the bar. I explained the outstanding service we received twice in a row from this server. I went into detail about me eating slow and how kind she was, etc. He shook my hand and told me he was going to give her a commendation for it! Yes! That’s wonderful! He also told me that she had just been prompted and starts her new job next week. That made my birthday! We tipped the crap out of her!! ❤️

I have told my husband not to waste money on flowers or cards on Valentine’s Day. They are a waste of money and we don’t make a lot. If he wants to get me flowers they have to be potted.

The last story: I think the boyfriend isn't quite aware that he taking advantage of his girlfriend. The girlfriend helped him plenty of times without asking for compensation so I think in his mind he sees that as the norm and he doesn't see it any differently if she will be helping out at the food festival. She needs to tell him that now that he has a good reputation in the food business and is flourishing that she can't help him for free anymore since it isn't fair she has to sacrifice her time, energy and sweat only to be given a simple thank you at the end of the day. Though to be honest the boyfriend does seem to be a bit of penny pincher if he doesn't want to celebrate with his girlfriend if they are successful in making a lot of money during the festival.

The dude wouldn't even buy her a $20 fan, like he's the only one who will be in the hot truck. He's not thinking about her at all, he just know that she will be there to help him without pay. I would at least ask for the amount I would be missing from work. Yes, it's PTO, but it could have been used for vacation or something, not working 8+ hours a day in a hot truck for free. Smh
Story 3: I work at an attraction that serves alcohol. There are two food locations very close to the entrance. See the problem? We have a last call on those spots that coincides with the entrance closing (attraction gives guests an hour after that to leave). It’s just to keep folks from trying to LEAVE with beer, which is a big no-no. There are still more spots for beer for another 30 min. True they’re on opposite ends of the attraction but what can u do? Sadly SOME PEOPLE complain about the cutoff. Bars have last call, we have last call.
That’s one year closer to the world not having to deal with her anymore.

It’s one thing to ask a partner to help you out if you have nothing else going on. But to expect them to take a pay cut cause their job will make more money and then not compensate you. That’s a severe disrespect

Last story: she’s been fully supportive of him achieving his dream, but how much support has he given her? What about her dreams? It’s not mentioned at all. If he’s supportive of her, that’s one thing. But if this has been a one-sided relationship of her helping him and he’s not willing to do more than to take her to a diner as a gesture of thanks, she needs to rethink the relationship.

I can’t stand this kind of mentality, I’ve seen people do it to their family. Let’s say he wants to hire some random person for this. They do the same work, same hours, aren’t taking time off and are getting paid. But for some reason he thinks he can treat someone he cares about to a lower standard. Story 3: There was one time where I went to a restaurant with a friend and one of his female friends after the three of us went to a crappy M Night Shamalan movie that was based on a Nickelodeon cartoon. You guys can probably guess what movie I’m talking about. Anyways, The Restaurant was getting ready to close but my friend got 1 alcoholic drink with his meal while his friend and I got sodas with our food. But were we the jerks?

My ex gf was this bad... I would get her nice things because my heart was always telling me to do so but she would always ask "how much was this stuff?" And "My guy friend got me something much nicer..." and a whole plethora of awful things that broke me mentally. She even poked fun at my depression and downplayed it because she felt like she should say whatever and get away with it. She cheated on me with 4 other guys (that I knew of) and would spend her money and time with those other guys on birthdays and holidays. Does anyone know what it's like to sit alone in a car wondering why you did what you did for someone and they don't even care? Because of her, I ended up losing my mind and my job, I lost both my vehicles and i can't even find a job because of fear of being abused by any employer and my parents think I'm a bum... even though I hide my depression and anger because no one cares enough to sit in with me and try to encourage me. The little life I have is slowly being stripped away and my decision to end it all has never been more solid.. probably the only thing I'd be good at. I'm gonna make it extravagant too... but hey, my problems won't be anyone else's problems 😂
Needless to say, for now, my driving force in life has been waiting to watch the world needlessly tear itself apart for values that won't mean anything in the end and it's just selfish to take others lives for granted 😅

I don't think that Karen's husband is a Kevin at all, from what I hear in the story he seems like a pretty romantic and a nice guy. It's Karen that doesn't care all that much about his love and just wants to look "good" in front of (or exactly like) the others.
I wonder what was her reaction when he told her the truth (if he did) and what this bouquet actually represented. God, I would love to see the look on her face by then and know she at least realized how stupid she was.
Roses are overrated anyway. Just do a few minutes of Flower language research and find out stuff that both looks nice and and coneys a message
I will say having worked as a line cook in a restaurant before I don’t think it was necessarily because they didn’t care that ticket machine can go on for a good five minutes straight I’ve just printing out orders and each ticket has anywhere from four dishes up to however many people are at the table it’s rare but I’ve seen ones that are literally for 30 people or more and you have to remember me how many dishes there are of each but you have to take care of what are any side parts of any other dishes that another cook might be in charge of do you have to do and so on it’s really easy to skip over the dish for an order especially large ones and we would regularly have to cook dishes on the fly I worked there for about three years and overall it was just too labor-intensive
Also if the server ever had a customer like this even if it was their fault we told them to blame us in the kitchen because we know they’re the ones having to literally face the person and if you’re mad enough to want to talk to the chef with a problem that’s not really valid you’re unleashing a demon that not even the Queen psycho Karen can handle and he probably won’t kick you out directly but he will make it clear if you don’t leave soon you’ll be mocked in ways you never even thought of when are your deepest darkest insecurities about yourself.
A.k.a. we don’t get paid tips so we don’t have to suck up to your entitled ass and will not do so for a second

Story 3: Yeah, her friends instigated that whole thing. She could've said no or negotiate compensation before she made the committment.
I'm sorry but if there's a table of 16 fucking people, it's usually to celebrate an occasion, most likely a birthday, so I'd have to disagree with the narrator on this one when they said "anyone past the age of 21 should not use it's my birthday." It's literally the reason they're there, so I'd hope the restaurant cares enough to at least serve the celebrant at the same time, if not first. Most restaurants where I'm from ask if there is an occassion when there's a large group, so they know who NOT to forget to give food to.
To clarify it's not the server's fault (though they could've just been honest instead of a fumbling wreck and just told Karen it was the back's fault), but I understand Karen's frustrations (especially after OP knew she'd been waiting longer for her food yet served the additional guy first, that felt deliberate ngl).

Disagree with your analysis on the food truck one, if the husband is struggling with a new buisiness, if she has always offered support why wouldnt he expect the same, the festival sounds linke a good pr platform for his fledgling buisiness, either shes supportive or shes not, this is a case of people getting involved not understanding the situation and give the poster bad advice
