Of all songs, this one my boyfriend sang to me in 1978.. I was blessed to have him as a husband and father for over 40 years until cancer took him 😢, our anniversary is just a few days away, Thank you ❤️
I'll be hitting my 40th this year...so bless you and I'm so sorry for your loss, I can't imagine. May you have a wonderful day and hold close all the great times you two had for those precious 40+
I am sorry for your loss Julia! Hopefully you still find joy in loaded songs like these. Hopefully the memories will bring you joy and a bunch more will be coming in the future. Treasure them
Kirstie just slays me with those soft echoes that follows Mitch...just chills!!! Exactly know what you are talking about. Just the emotional feeling coming off this vocal....wow.
More than any other group, I think they connect best with their audience, both during performances and on all kinds of social media. They are stupendous!
Their arrangements are incredible. They take songs people have heard a million times and turn them into something new and fresh. Their live version of this is killer too, and almost more impressive.
One of Pentatonix's original songs from their 2015 self-titled album is "Light in the Hallway" which is a lullaby Scott and Mitch wrote, I think in honor of Scott's sister's baby. Avi sang the lead on the album and during their 2017 tour, the last tour they did with Avi, it became his farewell song to the fans; there are several cellphone videos from the tour.
@@lleldridge1 yeah sometimes there’s actually a really decent recording. But searching them gives me a bunch of spoilers 😆😆 not lazy in asking for a good url hehe.
My favorite songs from PTX are those that are pure acapella, with no beat-boxing or other ornamentation. So subtle, yet the harmonies are so superb that they get to me every time.
Hello Jesse. Thank you, thank you, thank you for doing this one. So few reactors cover this one and I don't know why. It is so beautiful. I loved the original by Elvis Presley and PTX have just brought it back to me in an extra special way. The beginning. with each one of them looking into the camera - with a half smile - wow - what a fantastic piece of videography designed to just draw us in. They all looked stunning! This is another masterful arrangement - the harmonies, the layering of the vocals, the staggered lines, the bell notes, Mitch singing then separating, then his runs and vibratos.. You said it perfectly "Can't Help Falling in Love with PTX”. I agree with you on this, they are all just perfect. For me, I have to go one step further and say "Can't Help Falling in Love with Mitch". What a supreme vocal talent he is. Glad you got your box of tissues nearby. If you really want to use the box of tissues please react to PTXs original Never Gonna Cry Again (no music video, but find a lyric video, so you can see the words) or PTX cover of Shallow. If you want more goose bumps react to PTX cover of Can You Feel the Love Tonight or God Only Knows What I’d Be Without You. I am so glad that you stuck with PTX reactions. More please, and when you are ready, please try Mitch’s solo project as Messer- (Roses, Love Supply (fan mad lyric video), Gasoline Tears or Machine. Thanks for your great reaction and analysis and also for sharing your story of singing to your son. That sounds lovely.
Thanks Meg for this message! Super excited to check out a bunch of thise vids you’re mentioning. Mitch is being insane in all these video’s showing great variety. Got the box of tissues, but in the end this song was kind of more fun then emotional to me. They pretty much showcased a bunch of ways to arrange the song hehe. A bit less on making it an emotional song. Which is fine for a change haha
@@JesseReacts Lots more PTX songs to cover. I hope you still have my long list. They have over 200 songs. Just keep going. Your reactions are great. BTW - Thanks for reading my long comments. I just excited with PTX. They are so good.
Your story of you singing this to your little boy and the gentleness of PTX’s version of this classic makes me think that PTX would do the world a favor making a lullaby album. The peaceful and soothing tones are heavenly. Could calm a fussy baby in an instant, IMO. Great reaction,as always Jesse 😍 Can’t wait for more PTX. As said before, it doesn’t matter which song you pick for your next reaction, they won’t let you down and Pentaholics are here for it. 🤩🥳🥰 It warms my heart seeing how much you’ve grown to appreciate this amazing group in just 1 month. You have at least another year of reactions to do to catch up to their current projects 😉 -Pentaholic from Louisiana 🇺🇸
Haha yeah i am pretty far of from knowing all the songs! 😂 i think a lullaby song would be a great idea! Guess testing out a bunch of those harmonics make sense. Although i gotta say my kiddo loves the weirdest, hardest and craziest “music”. But i am quite sure that a mitch slap could happen even at the age of 2 😆 gonna try it out soon. Thanks for all the nice messages! So far it’s been really easy to appreciate and find great songs!
@@JesseReacts You should react to them performing Light In The Hallway w/Avi singing lead! Scott wrote it as a lullaby for his nephew and asked Avi to sing it because of his beautiful, velvety voice. It's 5 part harmony around one floor mic 🎤. Absolutely beautiful! 💞
One of my all time favorites from PTX for a slightly slower, quieter ballad. No one tries to go over the top, just beautiful 5-part harmony throughout the entire song. 08:27 So he was able to sit still for the entire video, but Scott just couldn't keep from using his hands at the very end to help himself sing those final few notes, LOL!
What a great reaction ! Thank you for letting us know you used to sing it to your son. And my favorite part of this performance is the part you like with the voices repeating .... Thanks!
They did in a slow four rather than 6/8! This adds poignancy to the piece! At the end, the final chord is an A9 with Avi singing a contrabass A (3rd ledger line bass clef). The group is showering overtones; they sound like an organ! I love the last 8 bars where Mitch soars and Kirstie comes into the shot like a glorious beam of sunshine! Glorious!
Appreciate that! Trying to focus really good. Musically i can enjoy really weird elements of a song to be fair. So i guess it make sense i naturally focus a a bit more at the sounds behind the person that is leading at that moment. Talentshows showed us that talent is not that rare, but what is making a song or group really outstanding is definitely not always the blatant obvious stuff!
Such a beautiful song, but I never thought of it as a 'daddy lullaby' before. My son just became a dad a few days ago, so I'm going to have to share this with him as a possible tune to sing to his new baby boy. Great suggestion, Jesse!
If you want to get into some GREAT harmonies (I’m hoping my fellow Pentaholics will agree and throw their suggestions below), I think you should do a “Christmas in May” theme and react to their Christmas Catalogs. PTX and Home Free are the only Christmas songs I jam to during the holidays. When I listen to them, so do my neighbors 😜 But I also listen to their Christmas music throughout the year also. Chills and thrills. The first Christmas song I listened to from them was “Carol of the Bells” I was immediately hooked. -Pentaholic from Louisiana 🇺🇸
@@JesseReacts I promise 100% you will not be disappointed. You will probably find yourself listening to their Christmas music during the off season. They have 100’s of Christmas songs and you know that they’ve put their PTX stamp on them. They are VERY well known for their holiday albums. Cheers!
If you haven't already checked out their solo songs then I highly recommend checking out: Kevin's KOvers of Down and Sign of the Times on his K.O. channel. Avi's Change on a Rise (he has a whole lot more but thatxs my fave. Mitch's cover of the Graveyard (not sure of the original singer) and Billie Eilish Your Power (neither of which are on his channel any more as he transformed it for his Messer project) his Messer songs are very different t and may or may not be your cup of tea. Scott's cover of Avicii's Wake Me Up, or I Should Tell Ya Momma On You. Kirstie has a few solo songs too but I don't recall them.
I watched your reaction again. Good as always. Glad you could get around SME. True, it was slower...more intimate, I think. The lyrics, I believe, lend themselves to their version. Kirstie looks amazing. NO...do not sing Mitch's part to your son. Your son does not need to be Mitch/Jesse slapped! haha. See you for the next PTX reaction.
This arrangement was done by Kevin Olusola and Ben Bram (PTX's longtime producer/arranger) Right after this was released, the same arrangement was performed by the choir at A Cappella Academy, a 10-day intensive Summer music camp for kids 12 to 18-years old from around the world, founded in 2014 by Ben, Avi, and Rob Dietz (composer/arranger). This short video is of the rehearsal of the song that was done in full at the end of session showcase. And that's hands-on Avi at the front, singing along with the students. ua-cam.com/video/z00vu_Q3nmY/v-deo.html
Oh wow didn’t know they made such programs!! That’s awesome, must be super inspirational and motivating to those kids! So great 😄 will checkt if when i can!
@@JesseReacts A good performance of the A Cappella Academy to see how good they are each year is this one by the 2019 class. They're doing Avi's original song "The Seed". I never liked the original because Elvis is NOT a singer I like, but this version is the most beautiful love song! This arrangement and the harmonies are gorgeous. In the beginning when you mentioned that you thought you heard Avi doing the background, I believe it was Scott you heard. His bass is so low he can back up Avis bass on Hallelujah when he's singing the second stanza.
Might be true on scott. Then the sound and screen being in sync makes more sense. Elvis came pretty early for me, but i guess he was performer first for sure! Nonetheless i do enjoy some of his smaller songs.

@@JesseReacts They actually put it on one of their Christmas albums! PTX has this habit of putting at least one non-Christmas song on each of their Christmas albums and then we all associate it with Christmas afterward! They did it with The Prayer and I Just Called To Say I Love You to name a couple.
You spoke of wanting to listen to each part, to be able to appreciate each voice. PTX does a song called "My Heart With You" that actually has Scott, Kirstie, & Mitch singing the first stanza without Kevin & Matt. I don't believe there is any beatboxing or bass rhythm in this piece; Matt & Kevin simply join in as singers after the first stanza. You may enjoy the better definition of each voice in this. Although I understand this is a contemporary piece, to me it has the feeling of early 20th century. I hope you find it enjoyable.
On another topic, you talked a little bit about Mitch being gay. If you don't mind ribald or baudy (there's a couple of English words for you! If you're familiar with those, you understand English just fine.) gay entertainment, you need to lookup Scott & Mitch's side group, Superfruit. They wrote a song called "Guy.exe".
