I wish I could be there to help spot koalas. But I'll do what I can from all these thousands of miles away to help however I can.💖💖💖💖💖🐨

How do you tell the difference between bark stains, papping koalas, and other unhealthy fur or wet bottom? Sorry if that is a complicated question.

Hi N. Nru, great question! Bottoms should be dry and bright white. A papping koala will have a large pouch and visible baby as it's head will be out of the pouch while papping. If you have any concerns about rump staining or are not sure, we advise they take clear photographs and contact your local koala rescue organisation as soon as possible. In the Northern Rivers, that is Friends of the Koala and our rescue team is available 24/7 via 02 6622 1233. One of our rescuers can then go out and assess the animal. Also check out our video on how to recognise if a koala is sick :)
