One of the best exercise for independence ... hands down.

Man, those toms sound AMAZING with ear buds-endless sustain and beautiful pitch bend and fall. This guy will be remembered as one of the all-time greats in drum history, just constantly pushing the envelope of the drumming language

@@johnhancock9249 He is arguably not the fastest drummer in the world. That goes to Mike Mangini. Thomas is one of the most technically proficient and bodily independent drummers though.

Ich Und Nicht Du I will respect that comment. Mike is definitely fast and quite frankly there are some metal drummers that are quick. Back to Lang though. Have you listened to some of session playing for some of the metal songs. I recently discovered he has done a lot of studio work for some very talented solo artists and etc. Lang can really hammer out some metal.
      Cheers!

Here are my tips, if playing fast on the hihat with snare. Use the left hand for snare. And the left part of the set.

Left hand lead always helps me strengthen that weak side. His video for the song Donkey shows him using this technique really well.

As a traditional player he was perfect, with technique and syncopation never heard or seen before. Some of the things he did in the traditional mode were thought to be impossible before.
