I have watched this video so many times over the years and I will NEVER not be impressed with this performance. As a drummer I can remember the first time I found a video of John Blackwell playing and I was blown away by his chops, showmanship and ability to form a pocket so deep you'd get lost. This will always have a spot as one of my list of all-time great live performances. Incredible!
sobbing halfway through, it's so damn good. Not even because I miss Prince so much (which of course I do) - it's just so incredibly tight and good, tears streaming down my cheeks
Very tight band and an amazing performance! This is one of the things that The Revolution could NOT do. You have to give props to Prince for knowing when to change his band as he grew as an artist.
yeah only TRUE PRINCE FANS no HE had 2 evolve as an artist. That's why true prince fans never left him...even when he did rainbow children we were there. Great album BTW!!! uhhhh
Agree to disagree...I could be wrong, but I think that's Mr. Blackwell on drums. Bobby Z could have never pulled that off. Same thing on keyboards. Only Fink could do what Renato was able to do. Lisa...Nope. Plus this song is too funky and has some R&B elements. Not something the Revolution was known for, which is why he needed new band members. But as Prince got older, he evolved amazingly. I love the stuff he did later as you can see him move towards making the stuff he wanted to make, whether the fans wanted a repeat of Purple Rain or not. He stayed true to himself and his art, and I loved that. Stevie Wonder did the same thing. I can't see Revolution even coming close to touching Black Muse or Come On.
Heck yeah!!! Rockin the house!!! The whole band is awesome. Sheila E getting down on them timbales and of course the late great John Blackwell tearing up them drums!
Idc how many times Prince changed his bands I still love and support him always cuz after all the only person I’m a big fan of is Prince only, not his band members 💜
I was in the audience that day. What a awesome experience that was. I'm going to miss that brother forever!
@hotrodder5034 - Wow! What an amazing experience. This performance is just outstanding. Must have been uch a rush being there! Peace, Paul
Yes in deed Paul! Peace and Love 💜
Incredible my dad was a drummer and he showed this to every drum student he ever had he made them watch it with headphones over and over I see why
This Must Be What Heaven Sounds Like! ❤
The whole band is kicking some serious ass
This is just ONE SONG. He had ssssoooooooo many bangers that I think we can sometimes forget how truly amazing he was!!
I think I am 70,000 of the 74,000 views
Rhonda Smith = Most Badass Bass Player Ever!
The band cannot be tighter! I never realised how great the band was here!
Since we lost Prince,......there has been nobody of this musical caliber since to carry the torch.
That level of talent will never be seen again the one and only my man Prince damn
R.I.P, John Blackwell; you will be greatly missed! Prayers for the Blackwell family. Such a sad loss!! An amazing talent he was!!
absolutely sensational drummer!
Some guitar player: "You can't play lots of different styles on a Telecaster!"
Prince: "Hold my purple drink".
G.E. Smith would like a word as well.
