I've read each and every comment and I'm glad you all are showing so much love for our collective hard work on this show! I'm super proud to have been a part of Prince's career and so humbled he was a part of mine. ♥
@@gmyers4967 I began to notice that if it started with “Scottie, …” he wanted me to make an adjustment but if he used my name at the end of the phrase like, “ Turn it up, Scottie!” he was using it more as punctuation. In the above video it was one of the times it started with “Scottie…” but he didn’t really need me to turn it up, it was plenty loud, he was trying to inspire the people in the balcony. At the top when he says, “…turn the guitar up! Didn’t I tell you never to touch a grown man’s stereo!” he was actually mad at the Monitor Engineer. 🤣 The Monitor Engineers almost never followed the feel of the music.
@@scottiebaldwin Thanks Scottie for those informational nuggets, They are Priceless!
@@margaretlawrance1044 I love you too!
Thank you Scottie, you are one of the key people behind the scenes that made Prince's live experience sound so good.
@@lavenderbee3611 Thank you. 💕
Probably the greatest bandleader of all time. They are not just talented and well-rehearsed, but Prince is in total control and knows just how to direct them.
I was just telling a friend of mine that.....Prince was the greatest Bandleader....
When you rehearse many hrs, a band gets pretty tight.
He thought v highly of Springsteen in that regard
That's what I tell people, knew how to play every instrument as good as the band but couldn't at the same time so he learned to lead. We were fortunate to have him for a while then God wanted him. Love this because he looked for real happy even though he was in such pain.
Lauren Hill has the same sort of stage presence with both audience and band. Incredible.
The GOAT. There will never be another like him.
Gary Hudecek Indeed.
Never Ever!!!!!!!
ABSOLUTELY NOT THEIR WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER LOVED AND MISS PRINCE SO MUCH PRINCE IS ALWAYS GOING TO BE 4EVER IN MY LIFE
You damn right.
@@peacetwofingers It's YOU'RE, Afrostraightener.
Prince didn't die, he just went somewhere else to make it as funky as this.
U'r funking right !! He is in the metropolis.
Prince and Michael Jackson can finally do that duet.
He's an Eternal Flame, The Truth!!
He jumped ship before shit hit the fan on earth
He’s performing in that eternal all star concert with MJ, Marvin Gaye, Whitney Houston, James Brown, Ray Charles, Otis Redding, Little Richard, and countless others
His ability of being in command is off the charts. He's the only guitar who, in addition to fill in that clear funky constant riff, controls a perfect homogeneous musical fabric that can be stopped and instrument selected at his command.
You know, what he does with a real band is what Dj's of today do with a machine but not even at the tiniest fraction of perfection and awesomeness that Prince has here. You know he could continue with the music beat forever, only it's live and there's not one band that get used to this. Every band has scripted music, with a structure. Even in jazz the guys don't stop at command. And this has that jazzy school to that. It's funk, but the riff goes on, and every other musician gets his going.
This is so precious to hear and watch. He's simple one of the greatest of all time.
With James Brown they stopped on command. That's where Prince got it
well said and precise
I couldn't have said that any better.
Top flight
so well said brotha

Prince is the legend of funk
WYS!!!!!!
George Clinton is the maker of WPFUNK WHICH IS P-FUNK . PS NO DOUT .

Hey, I think Prince proved there wasn't nothing he couldn't do! Do not get it twisted!
His smile at 4:44 gets me every time. What a musician, guitarist, bandleader and funky MF... On the 1!

As Elton John said. "the best live performer I ever saw. There was nothing he couldn't do." James Brown, Jimi Hendrix, and Little Richard in one package. Simply the Best there ever was. Rest easy in your legacy, Purple One!
Prince didn't play Funk.....Prince was the Funk ❤️
I was at this performance that night & baby this performance was ridiculously funky! I couldn’t stop dancing to this one even if I tried! God how I miss Prince 💜

I was at the celebration the next yr and talked to him for a long time, it was such an incredible experience!!! I also went to multiple celebrations over the years with my ex. Omfg I miss Prince more than anything in this world!!! I still to this day cry over him being gone!! I still can't believe I'll never see him again!! 😩 💔
I pretend he's still alive
“Anybody got a cell phone?” Amazing how things have changed within a relatively short amount of time. Prince was an extraterrestrial with supreme powers… to say he was ingenious would be far beyond an understatement. Rest in paradise, Prince.
And yet the smart phones have lights that shine down the streets. With picures. You can't touch this man he transcends like EWF on steroids. God bless those ivory keys. And heaven help us when he makes love to the strings. Gotta love it!!!

Is a Genius!!... is Magic!!
The day Prince was born "The Purple People Eater" was the number one song in the country. The lyrics tells the story of a purple alien who came to earth to start a rock n' roll band. Well bless my soul, rock and roll, flyin' purple people eater
Pigeon-toed, undergrowed, flyin' purple people eater
"I like short shorts"
Flyin' purple people eater
Quite a sight to see (purple people?)

Anybody got a cellphone!?! Pull your cellphone out call your next of kin...it'a about to get Funky in here!!!!!!🎸🎷🎹🎤👑📲📱📞💜
😂😂😂🤘💜💜💜💜💜💜
And it DID!
On his last tour, cellphones weren't allowed to be out. Not during the earlier show anyway. I heard, from people that attended the later show (which I wish I'd attended) that he allowed people to have them out & some got to go on stage. I miss that man. I feel so fortunate that I got to see him in concert 5 times, and attend 3 after parties.
tdginter this is what I came to say as well! There's video of him throwing people out of the show for having their phones out. Be present with three funky beat!💜

I wish he was still alive
DASHAWN ME TO MISS HIM SO MUCH STILL DONT SEEM REAL MY BABY
Me too.
This world has went to hell in a hand basket since he left us. Never be another that can do what he did.
Totally agree, but he was suffering quite a bit. We all saw how bad he looked before he died. I just hope he's in total peace ☮️ 💜♊
What I love about these Prince videos is the mix of the crowd: people of every color and age getting down. That's what Prince and his music was really all about, and why losing him was (is) so hard to take.
Big Pharma robbed us of this amazing performer and for that i will never forgive or trust the pharma bastards ever again
He looks so good. Every detail of that suit is fine combed and detailed just for him. He is wearing the suit the suit is not wearing him. It looks so good on him absolutely handsome. Love his smile OMG and his energy. Love when he says ON THE 1!!!!!!

Nobody jams like prince
So amazing in so many ways, including the control of the band, the crowd but all in a spirit of love. Absolutely a genius.
That transition to Love Rollercoaster at 9:35 is flawless
He was so smooth about the transition in and out!
If I could go back in time and see one performer/group… it would be PRINCE. he’s the GOAT performer.
For all those believing that Lisa and Wendy had this great connection with Prince, Sheila E was a little bit of EVERY WHERE with Prince. She was one of the band members that was around longer than The Revolution. Her connection with him was on a completely different level.
YES ABSOLUTELY PRINCE AND SHEILA CHEMISTRY WAS AWESOME I ALWAYS LOVED TO SEE PRINCE AND SHEILA PERFORM TOGETHER I DIDNT SEE THAT WITH THE OTHER WOMEN THAT PRINCE PERFORM WITH
This was one of his best bands and these were great shows. No Wendy and no Lisa. So glad this time period is getting some attention.

Of all the wonders of science and the mysterious of the universe, the thing I struggle to get my head around most is how someone was able to possess THAT MUCH talent.
He studied to show himself approved in all things music and God.
When Prince called for dancers out of the audience, the cute girl with the white top on and the glasses just came up there and SLAYED. She was just crushing it and I couldn't take my eyes off here.
"On the one!" What else you need?
Funk Master. Love you forever Prince
Better than the music they play today ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
You've got that right kitty.
Prince!
the greatest of all time
Something that we don't talk enough about when we review all the exceptional skills of Prince...
his incredible ability to organize his musicians, impromptu, during a show.
Like one of the best directors, whatever movie, ballet, opera! this guy could get a good song together, and decorate it with all the "ad lib" performances of each member of his band... on the fly!!!
Who else could ever do something like that? getting it out of the box? think! most of the competitor's shows are rehearsed choreography, say Michael Jackson, Madonna... with Prince, anything and everything could go;
his musicians have confirmed that while they did have long rehearsing sessions, however, being on stage with the master, you had to keep on your toes, everything could change in less than the proverbial shake of the lamb's tail!!!!
In those testing times, I just keep taking in all the magic from his one of a kind talent!!!
Ufffffff...if you don't dance any music ...this is the one that makes you dance...100 % funk !!! PRINCE master of music !!
Prince Nelson was not from this Planet...no human can be that talented...whatever planet his spirit is on now, they will be blessed.
The Greatest...RIP.
His art is that medicine for the soul .
Even James Brown would say to Prince " It's To Funky In Here, Give Me Some Air"!!
*Too
Good God yaw!!
He'd also say Everybody over here Get on up.Everybody right here Get into it Everybody right here Get involve.Everybody just ?????? WAIT.DONT RAISE YOUR HAND DOING NOTHING.THEN LET ME SAY YOU'RE DOING SOMETHING.
My goodness he was such an amazing talent. Ahead of his time yet timeless. I was young when he and Michael Jackson were compared often. I remember being curious about why it made Prince so mad. Lol. It’s like comparing a diamond to a piece of Coal. MJ is still the best dancer who ever lived but musically Prince was on a level many will never understand.
mj was in vegas too... and was amazed.... so he was still worried ... please god give me a hit/inpiration before prince get it first... its true
@@gfanarakos That was later around the 3121 era, when Will I Am went with MJ to see Prince during his Vegas residency. This performance here is from The Rainbow Children era. I couldn't afford a ticket when he played in my city that year but fortunately I got to see him live, multiple times.
indeed i never understood the comparison
They were actually products of James. One took his musicality, the other took his showmanship. Prince didn't like being compared to MJ, not because he hated him, but because he was not his enemy? He felt comfortable where he was.
@@sismeo1tf is you talking about? Prince actually performed LIVE unlike mj and was wayyyyy more versatile than James brown and could shred guitar. Your comment doesn't make sense.

He owned everything he did. I'm a 28, music has literally always been my life, but I've never had a favorite artist until now. Digging deep into his music and learning about how much he worked gives me so much courage. I feel like he made so many people happy and his art lives on to do that. One of my favourite periods of Prince’s output. Such an original album and thematically consistent, something which become far and few between after this. It’s arguably the last true ‘concept’ album of Prince. He seemed to give up a concept and move onto the next idea post rainbow children. 3rd Eye Girl’s album a shining example. This is far from a knock on Prince, more a shining example at how prolific this era was. The after shows, pre show admissions etc. I just wish I was a prince fan back in 2001. Nevertheless I thank my lucky stars are went to nine of the 21 nights and one of the 2010 tours. Blessed for the memories x
The GOAT! Prince was so talented and always had so much fun with music. He always gave it up to the greats before him. His live performances were like nothing on earth. Consider yourself lucky if you ever saw him live! He never disappointed! A true musical virtuoso of his craft!
