Pretty cool seeing 5 doormats hunt like wolves, thank you for this. I went through the initial stages like most commenters like why isn't he pausing! he could have had that fish! Crab! 2! 3! 5! And figured out that that was a drift you were filming and not you actually trying to catch fish.
They wasted a life. Had they browsed GOOGLE and ordered their delicacy online, in less than an hour it would have reached them on their table placed on seabed and they would have gorged on the same. Silly fishes. 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
Yes, I've seen them breach the surface and I even caught a flounder on a rat-l trap before. I was being silly and was pulling it as fast as I could and hooked something, never ever expected to pull up a flounder. Not saying that's the norm but it happened lol.
Iv been net fishing for flounder my whole life and I had no idea they were that predatorily that aggressive. Only ever find crabs in the belly’s. Amazing footage
Are flounder like this? Because for me i suspect them only laying flat on the sand and waiting prey to come to not waste much energy chasing something.
Oh snap, Watching this video again. I totally forgot to mention the most important detail. These Asian flounder are faster than our local counterparts. So drifting at 16 knots is perfectly normal

@@theevilg3nius I have a question. When the current is a little fast some people i fish with on party boats like to use 3 or 4oz jigs or bucktails for fluke. They keep their line in free spool and just let out line to maintain bottom contact....is this optimal? Basically what I'm wondering is when you let out line and it stops for maybe 10 seconds you obviously have bottom contact....but then the line will continue to go out for X amount of time until it stops again briefly when you regain bottom contact. Hope u understand my question
I caught a flounder while reeling back in to check on my mud minnow. Next thing you know, boom. Fish on! Decent keeper flounder! Right off the beach in gulf shores near the pier. Surprised me because i had been reeling in so fast.
Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.
I am assuming you were dragging the lure so fast in order to demonstrate but you can see here when they do eventually hit it they don't just swallow it immediately so if you don't stop and allow them to commit you won't catch one like this. Just want to make sure anyone not familiar doesn't think this is the correct technique.
We troll for them. Maybe 1-2 mph. They can often be caught without waiting if you use the right hook and set up. Trolling a river for flounder is very productive.
