Catching up with your Necromunda content - it’s great. I played the first edition way back in the 90s and am looking again. For the excellent reason that I already have the models for 40K, I’m looking at GSC for my first gang.
@@miniaturesrundown Still am. Also I think they are still a good starter because I am stupid and liable to get my dudes killed, and Cawdor its much harder to go into "the death spiral" than something more elite like van saar
Van Saar can be surprisingly effective in melee with smart use of the shock stave & grenades, and can gain cyber teknika when they advance, but their placement was spot on
The Arachni-Rig is also pretty decent in melee, and their energy shield giving a big armor bonus in melee is also very handy for keeping them alive if they get charged. But overall we agree, just a tad harder to play than the top 3!
From my studies over the last month, The flail is a big one to help with WS, which is Van Saar's starting weakness. Then i might suggest a Greatsword as it also gets +1WS. In addition the cyberteknika can be geared to fight certain gangs. Like the disarm cyberteknika vs goliath chain axes. The cranial cybertechnika vs. Escher chems and Delacque psykers. The other idea i had was to use Van Saars house list for an Outcast gang which allows you to equip their weapons on select fighters only you will then have access to Combat and Ferocity skills with a better WS on your leader. I like to think of VS outcast gang like this as a STC looter gang. A group of Underhivers bent on raiding Van Saar tech, so much as to begin to look like them.
Got my first game next month in my local clubs campaign. Went with Deleque as my friend and I shared the Hive War box. I maybe should have watched this video before we picked haha. That being said the models are so dam cool so I’m happy loosing every game!
Even though we rated them low, the Rule of Cool is king - you'll have more fun playing the guys you like the look of than playing something just because it's good!
Yesterday there was a WarCom article with a new faction called Mutants. They're based from Outcasts, and I'd love to try them out, just can't find any minis for them anywhere. Slowly but surely though, I am learning how to play the game, which is nice.
Yeah they look super interesting! Unless they come out with something directly you could always try some kit bashing. Human models and some green stuff as well! Glad you're enjoying the game!
My first gang was Cawdor, they are hard to play but its hell of a lot of fun screaming "And THUS did the Heretic burn in the flames of the Emperor" When your opponent gets into template range!
When I started with Necromunda, which was only a few years ago, I started with buying the hive war box set and the ash wastes box set and then just filled in the gaps with a gene stealer combat patrol, the missing rest of the gangs, a bunch of hired gun models, an ambot box and a box of hive scum. Pretty large financial investment but I said to hell with it because it’s an investment in years of fun. I still need the house of books and the book of outcasts but I have the book or ruin, judgement and peril.
I have noticed that near every where (and personally) Van Saar seem to suffer cripling curse not hitting on 2+ hits. Like how can so many vansaar players just fail those rolls that cost the game to them (personal expiriences as well)
CGC are a great example of one that only KIND of belongs in the last slot. They're really powerful, very straightforward - but their melee-only style is easily shut down unless you know all the clever tricks and tactics to get there.
If my Orlock are going to be played in hive setting and in Ashwaste games is there a preferred load out that would work for both or is this a two different gang situation?
The main difference between Ash Wastes and Hive games is there is much more open space in the Wastes, and much less cover. For Orlocks, things like Wreckers become even more valuable for their speed while short range weapons like their cheaper combat shotguns lose some value. For Orlocks specifically, I don't think too much changes.
So I'm new to necromunda and I have seen the dark uprising box on sale at the local game store. What do you think of the corpse grinders and the Palatine enforcers?
1. That's a VERY good box, if it's a decent price we recommend it! 2. Corpse Grinders are pure melee. Faster and kill whatever they touch. Palanites are less "good" but still very playable!
Listened to this carefully then went out and ordered Delaque because the matrix really does mean that much to me
They look more Dark City than the matrix .
House Delaque is clearly modeled after the strangers from Dark City, not from the Matrix. Otherwise great video!
It's so rare someone else gets a Dark City reference so I just default to the low hanging fruit.

An excellent reason indeed!
They guy with glasses needs to talk into the mic more. Really hard to hear at times.
>I wanted to get in for Cawdor because they look look amazing
Ooof
Roll with it, you'll get more mileage out of playing something for looking amazing than for the rules!

Stimmer smash

exactly the video and playlist I was looking for, thanks guys

Good ballistics skill is for people who DON'T have flamethrowers.
Just ordered my first Necromunda purchases of books/kits. Joining the House of Blades with Escher!
Delaque are not matrix cosplayers. They are Darkcity rebrands.
I'm planning on starting with a palintine oops almost all riot gang and an orlock gang, focusing more on orlock

wonderful video! always love a new breakdown.

@@miniaturesrundown The clever trick and tactic is to RUN FACE LONG INTO THE ENEMY! SLAUGHTER THEM ALL! FOR KHORNE!
The Wyld Runners with bows can also have poison arrows.
I haven't actually had any games with them so I'm not sure how it works out.

Okay is there anywhere you can find a complete list of necromunda factions? (Including the wierd shit)
Goonhammer has a good article on that. Search "Necromunday Index" on their site.
I wonder where Corpse Grinders fall on this list
Great video, have they made a deep dive video on Palanites yet?
Not yet - Coming soon! Palanites is difficult because with the Badzone Enforcers there's functionally two gangs in one.
@@miniaturesrundown definitely looking forward to it!! Thanks for the reply and thank you again for the great content. Love your videos.
Wait so is number six the one you'd recommend most to stay away from or number one?
splice some pictures of models in or something
Goliaths sounds like decent count-as rules if i want to play Orks?
