Amazingly attractive plastic worm. So different. And immediately identifiable. Sure wish someone would pick up the mantle and make them again today. Yes, there are similar worms on the market today, especially coming out of the overseas market, and those are great. But the original Ringworm was something special, from the worm itself to the card design and graphics. To hear Mr. Perrin talk about some of the challenges they faced in producing this lure is just the kind of stuff nerds like me love to hear!
Mister twister makes ring worms
@@hunter5858 By golly, you're right! I had forgotten all about that. Should have remembered that as I get their catalog every year. Thanks for the reminder. I wonder if they face similar production challenges as Rebel did.
@@Stumpjack both have been around for a long time?
This is so cool. To hear the creator talk about his creation and all the things that went into it. I was born in the wrong decade, I would have loved to see the bass fishing era develop
Really cool
The Rebel Ringworm in the crawdad color was a fish catching son of a gun. I still have a couple unopened pack. Great video, brought back some great memories for me. Thanks for sharing.
This series on Rebel lures has really been eye-opening. You don't realize how much effort goes into some of your favorite baits just to get them out to store shelves. And Rebel is such an iconic name in fishing, they really had their hands in a bit of everything and were innovative trailblazers with various processes and methods that modern day bait manufacturers and even anglers take for granted. Good stuff, Retro! You've outdone yourself!
I inherited a ton of tackle a few years ago, there was a bunch of ringworms, and various others. I have about 7 colors of the ringworm, the colors today are really better.
Been loving these historical discussions Retro!
Thank you Chris for the Rebel series. They bring a lot of insight to the history and manufacturing processes
Man this is amazing bro that you are able to capture this niche piece of history for us fishing enthusiasts..ty so much bro🙏🎣
So cool hearing these stories! It's fun hearing how these companies grew and the challenges they overcame!
Not sure whats better, hearing the history of Rebel or the story of a company that was small amd kept growing very cool stuff... keep em comin
This Rebel stuff Just knocks it out of the park
Awesome, thanks! 👍👊
Remembered using them 74
Not 78. I used them in 1974. Good times
Dewy Bain, Bain Mfg was producing the ringworm in ‘74 under Bains name before he contracted with Rebel in ‘76 to produce them for Rebel. Buddy started producing them for Rebel in ‘78 when Bain stopped producing them for PRADCO.
Great series!
Priceless history 👍 👍 👍
I don't remember these, the first worms I remember were the Creme worms that looked like a nightcrawler, and Mann's Jelly Worm.
A true pioneer, what a great video :)
This is awesome!
Rebel soft plastics? Deep lore right here.
👍🏻😎
I seen a company claim they was the first to put a ring on a worm to cause air bubbles recently lol I said nope that company was formed in the 2000s and rebel had one in the late 70s and 80s 😂. Shut them down quick lol
