- The Metaspeed Sky Paris gets a Peba upgrade, new upper material, and a literal revamp. It’s a softer shoe that’s also more comfortable for the toes, and it comes at a cost of aggressiveness. However, I think it's a tradeoff that most runner will be willing to make. It’s not a shoe I’d want to take for a fast 5k, but it’s certainly something I’d be excited to wear for my next marathon PB attempt.

Solid review per usual Mike! On another note, and i've been wanting to say this for a while, i'm lovin' the snippets of music (ie 4:09 and 8:56ish) that you include to transition between "chapters" on your videos as of late. It enhances the storytelling to your vlogs and we're all for it!

I'm an Edge+ person, but am still watching this Sky+ review. Edge+ is my fastest shoe, even beating the Vaporfly. But I find it hard and uncomfy so I rarely wear it. The changes sound like exactly what I would want. Am now looking forward to your Edge+ Paris review.
Exactly! The Edge+ foam always felt too firm imo. The Edge Paris might be the perfect shoe for me. If not, I’ll switch back to the Vaporfly.
Actually Kofuzi says the vaporflys are the fastest shoe so you are wrong
I used the Edge for speed work only, for which they're fantastic but they also made my toenails fall off during a half marathon. Still love them.
Uncomfy? Wuttt. Its increadibly comfortable!

@@jmbaug1229I agree. Nike is just hype. And they have gotten lazy with their overall shoe line. Coasting on their brand equity imho. And I gave up on Nike with their frankly 💩 build quality.

Tried it yesterday at Tokyo Marathon Expo on treadmill at Asics booth: both Edge and Sky felt wonderful to run, definitely an option for me, nice shoes & nice review!! 😊

Excellent video, as always, Mr. Kofuzi. I have a question, though. When you compare shoes and distances, you usually mention 5k, 10k and Marathon. The shoes for Half-Marathons are closer to 10k kind of shoe, or Marathon kind of shoe? Thank you for your fantastic work! Have a great one, every body!

Looks awesome!!! 😍 I have loved Metaspeed Sky+! It does feel a bit more aggressive than other race shoes, but I really didn’t mind, especially towards the end of 26.2 (got me through Grandma’s to a PR attempt 😊) I’m very curious whether I would like Sky or Edge Paris 👀

I love the Metaspeed Sky+ but longer efforts beat my legs up. Forefoot runners dream, these look promising! ASICS has been killing it, Superblast 2 looks good too!!

Would you say the Metaspeed Sky (and Edge?) is a good alternative to the Adios Pro 3 in general? I love the running dynamics and feel of that shoe but the upper just does not work for me over longer distances 😢. Great review as always, thanks Kofuzi!

Totally get what you're saying about the Sky+ not feeling soft. Even though I can squish it in my hands, that squish didn't translate with running. It felt much firmer than I thought it should.

Always though the sky would be my preferred shoe of the stable but after seeing Thomas’ review at BITR this morning, I’m wondering whether the edge is maybe for me.
I have tended to agree with your preferences (novablast, saucing etc) so will hang tight for your edge review
I want a Superblast Paris now!
I have metaracer and o love it. My PB in the half marathon are with them. In the marathon its Alphafly 1, no doubt

excited for the comparison video between sky and edge. ive watched other reviews and some say the models have been swapped in terms of stride vs cadence. also im curious which shoe is better suited for people with wider feet like me

I've loved running in my Sky+ and was the first race shoe by Asics.. I've run over 600km so far and the shoe is still amazing and everything is still in good shape..
These look like they'll follow the same path thankfully. I did find the Sky+ a bit hard for the first 250km. Then it just became magical...

Looks like other reviewers keep saying Edge is better than Sky this time. Just hope you can do comparison of this vs Edge Paris to see what’s your opinion.

Over at BITR, I think and feel there's a shift in preference to the Edge. Looking forward to your take on that, specially your phenomenal review officially ended my infatuation over the Alphafly 3.

I relegated my Metaspeed Sky+ to half marathon and below simply because of that more firmer ride (compared to other brands). I am super interested in this model now
if they had a casual version that look this.., I would buy that .. the shoe looks so fresh.
An Elite lighter is FANTASTIC❤
I've only had the chance to try the Sky+. It felt like I was landing flat footed, no matter how much I tried to change my foot strike. The Edge my fit me better with the rocker.
Got to get these on feet. I hardly used my original bright orange Metaspeed Sky. It's practically brand new still.
Wow the weight is impressive much lighter than the VaporFly 3. Really impress good job Asics

Great review!! Always funny to see how people are just not talking about carbon plates anymore! I remember the talks about the plate geometry with the Edge+ and Speed+ and now we don't care at all about plates, it's interesting!
One question, I tend to overpronate, and raced all of my half-marathons in the Edge+, that sometimes felt like it was not that forgiving, and that exhaustion could lead to a bad form and the shoe was not really helping! With the shape of the sole, it feels like overpronators should just run away as quick as possible from the metaspeed sky paris, would you say so? (looking for a good marathon shoe and my form might even get worse at the end of a marathon than with a half!)
I think the plate conversation is more pertinent in a comparative discussion of the Edge vs Sky
When discussing those two shoes, there is almost nothing to talk about except plate (same foam, same last, same outsole, same stack height, same drops)
I have the gel nimbus 25 for road running and trabucco max 3 for trails. I love Asics. I don't need these as Im happy to run slow. Great video.

Hoping that ASICS will sell this in 31cm size here in Japan! Been a bit bummed that the metaspeed line and superblast have both maxed out at 30cm😢
Oooh, interesting! Still never tried a Metaspeed, might have a look for a deal on a Sky+ as generally not a fan of 'softer' foams though.
Was there any mention of the plate in this review? If there was i must have missed it. Obviously we all know it's there, but might be useful info for someone thinking about their first marathon shoe.
I am totally a front foot runner and do not use my heels. Which version do you recommend? Mind you I am a very slow runner but with a high cadence and small steps. I found the Saucony Endorphin speed 3 to firm under the front foot when I wore them. Is this softer? I do mostly 10 K. Also are you a forefoot striker, midfoot striker or heel striker? Because that makes a big difference I think.
Much as I can see why one might not compare against the Puma DNE2, I want it. The DNE2 fits me so well, but my daily trainer of choice is Novablast/Superblast. Puma and ASICS are doing it for me. Side note - if Adidas could get their heel situation figured out, I dare say I like their foam the best.

@kofuzi when you say the midsole is cut back more - how would you compare the midsole width to the Vaporfly or AlphaFly 2?
VF and AF2 are too narrow for me - my arches extended too far past the foam causing foot pain. I do not have this issue with Endorphin Elite and races my last 2 marathons in them.

Big fan of the MetaSpeed Sky+ Glad it got lighter, more stack, and softer. Those qualities are the only reason I was moving more towards racing a marathon in the Vaporfly.

Just what I needed in a review! I just can't with Asics having these 2 shoes and trying to decide which would be better for my use without trying them for a while. Can't afford to just buy both. I really didn't like the sky+ at all. Also sent the Endorphin Elite back. Big no's for me. 15 miles in both and shoes I never wanted to run in again, especially a marathon. I'll just skip these both since I can't figure which to buy. Sorry Asics...
Kofuzi, do you have any recommendations for 5k shoes I can race cross country in? I usually wear Vaporfly 3's but I'm wondering if there are faster shoes that have come out or are going to come out this year before September (Takumi Sen 10 or Eliot Racer for example)
@kofuzi What you think about metaspeed sky plus vs Paris for half marathon? As U said in the video that marathon first 20km the plus will be faster.
Does the more agressive feeling on the Metaspeed Sky+ makes the shoe more suitable than this later version for 5k and 10k races?

How’s the relative bounciness compare to the Endorphin Elite? That’s still my favorite in terms of bounce. I liked the Metaspeed Sky+ alright, but it wasn’t bouncy enough for me to want to race a marathon in it

Hey there ... Just wondering what size you went for in the ASICS Superblast and in this shoe ? I find the superblast has a pretty big roomy toebox ... Many shoes I go for a 10.5 but I went to a 10 for the superblast... Just wondering what your thoughts are on the Ms sky Paris are and if you went same size in your superblast ?

I haven’t tried endorphin pro 4. But I think the Sky Paris is very different. Both Peba foams, but beaded Peba feels very different than non-beaded Peba. Beaded Peba has a distinctive bounce to it

As a heel striker, the heel grip peeled off after only 10 mile in my Metaspeed sky +s..tough pill to swallow. These are still tempting 😅
The rubber extends further back on Edge+ and Edge Paris. Usually heel strikers prefer Edge over Sky (myself included).
I watched this video 4 times today because it's that awesome. I guess the chicken prefers the Edge as it's crossing away from the Sky.

Surprisingly I find the FF Turbo+ foam firmer than the FF Turbo in my initial runs in the Sky Paris. Maybe my foot just has a bias since I am a big fan of the FF Turbo foam. Maybe the foam will soften up a little in my next runs in the Sky Paris. :)
What shoe would you recommended for someone who already has a high cadence of around 180-210, would the sky be better to help improve my stride length as my cadence is already high? Hope you understand my question ok.
Thanks for the preview. Got sizing envy however as yet again it seems ASICS don't want to make their best shoes in a US 14 or bigger. Oh well other brands are available.
