Just a fun fact for y'all: these are mostly primary phase parrotfish, meaning they are female (which is how most parrotfish species start out). There will be (usually) one secondary phase somewhere in there: parrotfish who have transitioned to male and who have become much more territorial. Humpheads are basically sea buffalo: they move in herds, can live up to 40 years, and use their big ol' heads to ram coral and, if they're male, each other!
oh that’s an interesting fact, ty for sharing 👏

Parrotfish: The most British fish in the world
That’s a face only a mother parrotfish could love!
‘The Book Of Parrotfish’
Verse 1 Fishy 2 4
“Long long ago, the earth was once a big blue sphere of vast oceans, inhabited by coral reefs and parrot fish. These majestic fish fed on the rocks and corals of the reefs and the parrot fish would then disperse of the waste product which was a fine sand. Over time this sand would build up and create islands. Once the lands were created then the mighty populations of parrot fish used their majestic mouths and mystic powers to create plants, bugs, birds, reptiles, you and me.”

Becky s you love sand and soil?
No wonder the late Don Martin made a comic story on this very concept in MAD magazine years ago.
Becky s Sand is made from the sediments of calcified coral skeletons, otherwise, they are silicates from the eroded rocks. Fine grained sand is real sand, while granulated or between fine grained sand, is white coral sand.
Soil is sometimes ash and degraded organisms, majority-wise.
White sand is fish caca! Yellow golden sand is silica & coral skeletons.

This is like something out of a jurassic park scene
Made me think of that scene from Spongebob when he's like "HOWDY Y'ALL?!"
A very very very small amount of sand is made from these sand making machines, most is carved from mountains and transported through streams to the ocean, it’d be interesting to compare how much sand these guys produce vs mountains and also how much of it is directly used for the islands, which I️ don’t think is too much
Well they do produce about 200 pounds of sand per year. Each. That’s not a small amount but no, in comparison to the other ways sans is created, it isn’t a great deal.
@@carriehesketh3555 In places where are only corals and no mountain and river to get sand from they are main producers of sand. So in global scale it might be small fraction of what is produced world wide but in their environment they are one of if not the main producer of sand
