It's interesting that Zach ships Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson, when it's abundantly clear that tiny Octavius and tiny Jedidiah are absolute romantic soulmates.
Currently in the museum of natural history in NYC, they have the Teddy Roosevelt statue they took down along with an exhibit on Teddy’s bad views and opinions and how times have changed. It’s awesome because it shows the progression of history instead of just erasing it entirely.
*PLEASE* do an episode for the second movie!! It’s one of those few movies where the sequel is as good as - if not better than - the original. And then maybe Kelsey can catch up on the fun 😄
I think you guys didn't pay attention enough to the film. Teddy literally says "I am not the real Teddy Roosevelt, I didn't do any of the stuff he did. I was made in a factory in pookipsie. I am made of wax, what are you made of?" None of this is about history accuracy, its about statues coming to life in a museum
And then it ties back into like the ben stiller character arc. It's not about teddy roosevelt's character arc. He's an archetype for thus movie and he's self aware
I honestly won't delete the copy I have on my laptop from th 00's and just waiting that my nieces and goddaughters turn into teens so we can watch this together
Honestly the Robin Williams thing is kinda sad. he was pretty selfless is doing the movie for a fraction for what he was worth, and agreed to do it if Disney didn’t use his likeness to sell the movie. But surprise surprise they used him more than what was in their agreement and it soured their relationship. And while the movie did GREAT because of Williams, he didn’t get anymore. Disney tried to mend their relationship by gifting him a Picasso painting but think about all the money they made.
Imagine breaking a historic working relationship with one of the biggest comedic actors of all time, who defined multiple iconic Disney characters, and then being like "but here's a Picasso" omfg Disney 🤦🏻♀️
I haven’t watched it in over a decade but man I never pieced together Teddy being in love with Sacagawea compared to his real life stance on Native Americans😵💫😵💫
I re-watched the first Night At The Museum not too long ago and I choose to believe that Rebecca (the “love interest”) was aroace the whole time which is why she didn’t show up in the second movie. Speaking of which, please do the second movie. I need Zach to witness the Jonas Brother cherubs…
You guys definitely expected too much from this film with regards to the accuracy of History and it's impact on the story. It's not about history coming to life, it's a museum. The president Teddy Roosevelt is not in love with the native American Sacajawea. The wax statues of them in the museum are
Exactly I think they didn't pay attention enough to the film. Teddy literally says "I am not the real Teddy Roosevelt, I didn't do any of the stuff he did. I was made in a factory in pookipsie. I am made of wax, what are you made of?" None of this is about history accuracy, its about statues coming to life in a museum
Im part of the actor-to-director pipeline. Having a history of acting has helped me know how to direct humans in a way that is natural. It's a beautiful journey
i watched that movie on repeat cuz i had such a crush on rami malek. also years later i found out he did this around the same time as he was on that sitcom he was a recurring character on, and it blew my mind cuz it's worlds apart
I BEG of you to do more Ben Stiller SPECIFICALLY the movie Tower Heist, it’s out of control, there’s just enough plot to keep you watching but not enough to make it make sense and the cast is incredible! Love the show! :)
I'm from Dick Van Dyke's hometown, and I KNOW he's famous, I know he's a great actor. But it still blows my mind when people who aren't from Danville know who he is 😂 We love to see it, honestly
I know crystal the monkey!!!!! I used to volunteer at the rescue shes from its called animal tracks in agua dulce and you can visit them!! The owners are a couple were the wife is an exotic animal rescuer and the husband is an animal trainer so they work together to save exotic animals who cant be rehabilitated and train them for movies and tv! Theyre absolutely lovely I highly recommend visiting or donating if you are able
I love the NATM films they're my comfort films. I love when Shawn Levy does family movies. I've watched #2 the most tbh. When I visited DC I was like omg I get to see all these museums & then realised the objects aren't in the same places/museums compared to the film
As an environmental scientist I can say mostly we do not like Teddy Roosevelt he is up there with some of the worsts in my opinion ( Also Rainey you are also correct because he was the big stick president, very similar concept)
i feel like one flippant line of like "Ahkmenrah made a deal with the god of the underworld, Anubis, to be able to return to life using the tablet, but it made Ra furious so he made it so the tablet only worked at night and thus you can't go into sunlight for fear of facing the wrath of Ra" to shore up the logic of the movie a little 😂
To be fair if he was the real Atilla the Hun everyone in the museum would have had their heads on spikes with him eating under them so it would have been a very different movie 🤣🤣
33:00 Ron Paulsen, the voice of Wakko Warner, Pinky, Raphael, and so many more does the voice for Carl and he loves doing that character, especially for stuff like Twisted Toonz at conventions
I really want them to watch “Something Borrowed” with Ginnifer Goodwin, Kate Hudson, and John Krasinski. That movie is just one of the craziest films in my mind. Or to have a John Hughes month.
Omg. I also saw Owen in santa monica but I didn’t even realize! He complemented our Pizza and when he left my boyfriend said that was Owen Wilson! I was so mad I didn’t realize it was him!! 😂💀
Movies for Garrick: The Borrowers (97), The Indian in the Cupboard (95). Movie suggestions overall: The Emporior's Club (2002), A Little Princess (95), Teen Witch (89), Bicentennial Man (99), Flubber (97)
lol at garrick wanting it to take place all in one night. It's not "A night at the museum," it's "Night(time) at the museum" and I'm mad I hadn't thought of that before now
When the movie first came out, the ONE AND ONLY reason why I really wanted to see it was because of the legendary Dick Van Dyke. Regarding the scene with Attila the Hun and Ben Stiller - listening to Zach and Gerrick talking about the Asian portrayal IMMEDIATELY reminded me of Mickey Rooney's depiction of the Japanese landlord in Breakfast at Tiffany's - ooof, that was some rough stuff.
oh something you MUST understand is that owen wilson and ben stiller's characters are gay and married in this movie. they're also gay and divorced at the same time. hope this helped!
This movie is such a GP! It was so silly but when I watched it as a kid I didn’t understand the history yet. Definitely problematic and revisionist. The cast was stacked in NATM. I always laugh and cry seeing Robin Williams in any movie.
I'm curious if this movie helped with museum ticket sales (if you have to pay for the museum in your neighborhood) after it came out because this was a delight! a sweet and fun movie for all ages.
It is funny how different Zach saw Sacagawea compared to my 7 year old self. As a kid I was like aw yes Lewis and Clark are absolute idiots and that this poor lady is stuck in a glass box with them. And I was amazed at her ability to make guys feel stupid without telling them they were stupid. She was just like these poor souls have no ability to observe or think critically. How difficult their lives must be. 😂
I'm glad Zach mixed up Ben Stiller and Ben Affleck, because I did a double take at the beginning of this podcast when they were talking about Ben Stiller, because I remembered it as Ben Affleck 🤦🏻♀️
Glad Garrick liked Mr and Mrs Smith so much I did too and it’s been a while since I’ve been able to watch anything new. Will just say this James Franco definitely isn’t the white Donald Glover that honour goes to Bo Burnham imho.
It's interesting that Zach ships Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson, when it's abundantly clear that tiny Octavius and tiny Jedidiah are absolute romantic soulmates.
literally was going to comment abt them lmaooo
octavius and jedidiah mean so much to me
Currently in the museum of natural history in NYC, they have the Teddy Roosevelt statue they took down along with an exhibit on Teddy’s bad views and opinions and how times have changed. It’s awesome because it shows the progression of history instead of just erasing it entirely.
Also a customer once brought a pet monkey into the adult store I worked at. He was on a leash. I got to feed him a penis shaped ring pop.
I still quote “hi I’m Paul” on the regular
the girlies who get it, get it 😭
Anytime they mention Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson my brain immediately goes to Zoolander. I cant belive they didn’t mention it 😂
*PLEASE* do an episode for the second movie!! It’s one of those few movies where the sequel is as good as - if not better than - the original. And then maybe Kelsey can catch up on the fun 😄
PLEASE cover the 2nd night at the museum!!! Hank Azaria alone makes it such a joy to watch!
25:15 According to the third movie, the tablet animates things at night because it was blessed by the moon god Khonshu.
Rami Malek was also in Breaking Dawn 1 and 2 if y’all didn’t know. He had pretty cool powers. I love these movies though, they’re so much fun
That’s what I thought when they mentioned him!
Oh my god that reminds me, I want them to do a game episode so bad. Like Until Dawn. I just want to see them, especially Kelsey, play!
and he was kind of the deus ex machina unrealized in that one too!
Thank you thank you thank you!!
They do acknowledge this around the 48 min mark
And then it ties back into like the ben stiller character arc. It's not about teddy roosevelt's character arc. He's an archetype for thus movie and he's self aware
PLEASE REVIEW THE MOVIE AQUAMARINE
Please!!!!!!
I honestly won't delete the copy I have on my laptop from th 00's and just waiting that my nieces and goddaughters turn into teens so we can watch this together
Robin Williams in the third one makes me cry just thinking about it.
I like the sequel even more
The sequel was actually my first NatM watch
Saying that babys know not to scratch your eye out is insane cause like babys be beating you up low-key 😂
Honestly the Robin Williams thing is kinda sad. he was pretty selfless is doing the movie for a fraction for what he was worth, and agreed to do it if Disney didn’t use his likeness to sell the movie. Pretty sure that was with Aladdin not Night at the Museum.
Plus it was fun to see Dick Van Dyke play a baddie.
The way I freaking screamed when you said FDR LOOOOOOOOL
The video essay Zach mentions about Robin Williams playing the Genie is by Lindsay Ellis! It’s fantastic, definitely go check it out.
I haven’t watched it in over a decade but man I never pieced together Teddy being in love with Sacagawea compared to his real life stance on Native Americans😵💫😵💫
I totally forgot about "Hi! I'm Paul!" 😂 Thank you surprised/remembering laughter is a special kind of laughter
I re-watched the first Night At The Museum not too long ago and I choose to believe that Rebecca (the “love interest”) was aroace the whole time which is why she didn’t show up in the second movie. Speaking of which, please do the second movie. I need Zach to witness the Jonas Brother cherubs…

Lindsay Ellis is the one who made the video essay about Robin Williams voicing the genie. It's amazing. Go check it out.
i watched that movie on repeat cuz i had such a crush on rami malek. also years later i found out he did this around the same time as he was on that sitcom he was a recurring character on, and it blew my mind cuz it's worlds apart
I enjoyed seeing Dick Van Dyke & Mickey Rooney & Bill Cobbs. Some great actors that have had quite prolific careers.
the first movie introduced me to Rami Malek, but the 2nd movie introduced me to Bill Hader so i'm 50/50 re: which is better lmao
"Africa is just reduced to wild animals" Egypt is... in Africa...
Yes, but obviously is not ALL of Africa.
They should watch Cars (3 hits the spot) and bring in Ryan and Shane 😂 for an owen wilson episode
I BEG of you to do more Ben Stiller SPECIFICALLY the movie Tower Heist, it’s out of control, there’s just enough plot to keep you watching but not enough to make it make sense and the cast is incredible!

Dont let Rainie's age fool you, im the same age and i know Jimmy Neutron, "hi i'm Paul" and Charlie Murphy (R.I.P) Rainie needs to leave her bubble.
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR YALL TO DO THIS ONE!!! genuinely one of my favorite movies
30:32 Midnight In Paris. You're welcome.
I love the NATM films they're my comfort films. I love when Shawn Levy does family movies.
I've watched #2 the most tbh. When I visited DC I was like omg I get to see all these museums & then realised the objects aren't in the same places/museums compared to the film
The museums in the first film are in New York. The Smithsonian institutes are amazing though.
@@duncansonoryan I know but I haven't been to natural history museum yet only DC ones.
As an environmental scientist I can say mostly we do not like Teddy Roosevelt he is up there with some of the worsts in my opinion ( Also Rainey you are also correct because he was the big stick president, very similar concept)
He also played Freddie Mercury
Guys we need the "BAHUBALI 2 THE CONCLUSION" podcast Asap.
It's been 6 months since the 1 part reaction.
This movie changed me as a child and is one of the reasons I became a history major in college.
12:40 I think you guys should watch The Secret World of Arriety. It's a ghibli movie
Please do national treasure
i feel like one flippant line of like "Ahkmenrah made a deal with the god of the underworld, Anubis, to be able to return to life using the tablet, but it made Ra furious so he made it so the tablet only worked at night and thus you can't go into sunlight for fear of facing the wrath of Ra" to shore up the logic of the movie a little 😂

Garrick is 100% right about Carl! His crush on jimmys mom is so weird.
I’m screaming! Yes this is a definition of GP!
Movies for Garrick: The Borrowers (97), The Indian in the Cupboard (95).
Movie suggestions overall: The Emporior's Club (2002), A Little Princess (95), Teen Witch (89), Bicentennial Man (99), Flubber (97)
You guys should totally do Hairspray sometime.
OMG! I forgot about that monkey! but as soon as you said it i got a flashback! LOL
Love you all talking about this movie 🎉
if you love random rami malek, i am BEGGING you to finish the twilight series😭
The Voyage of the Mimi! What a core memory haha.
lol at garrick wanting it to take place all in one night. It's not "A night at the museum," it's "Night(time) at the museum" and I'm mad I hadn't thought of that before now
One of my favorite movies of all time and it got the love it deserved!
For Paul giamattathon, you should do Turbo 😂😂😂😂 🐌
Owen Wilson and Ben Stiller are also both in Meet the Parents!
i need to know what we need to do for them to cover step up 3d on the podcast, like i need zach's intel on that movie!!!
Can y’all do Madame Web? I heard it was soooo bad 😂😂
I can confirm that it's realllllyyyyyyy bad but bet it will become a cult classic 😂
Tom Lennon iconic for also helping create @midnight
honestly would love the gp crew to cover mr and mrs smith because I love that show and I feel like its so underrated!!

If yall don’t do NATM 2&3 I will be so sad!!! Please do the other ones!
movie rec: aliens in the attic
One of the best Museum I ever been too. Took 4 hours going through everything. Did some of the special exhibits as well. Was a great time.
this is me once again asking for you guys to watch and review Bottoms
I’ll add Red White and Royal Blue here as a request for a double feature 😂
I genuinely thought I was the only person that hated Carl! I see you Garrick, I see you!
If Garrick wants little people big world PLEASE watch Arrietty
Guilty pleasure? More like just pleasure! I love night at the museum!
oh something you MUST understand is that owen wilson and ben stiller's characters are gay and married in this movie. they're also gay and divorced at the same time. hope this helped!
Ben stiller in this movie: This is my boyfriend Jedidiah, and this is his boyfriend Octavius
MR ROBOT MENTIONED ‼️‼️‼️‼️
Another interesting film debut is Priyanka Chopra, it was the Disney movie Planes
This movie is such a GP! It was so silly but when I watched it as a kid I didn’t understand the history yet. Definitely problematic and revisionist. The cast was stacked in NATM. I always laugh and cry seeing Robin Williams in any movie.
I'd have to agree with Garrick, Carl's voice sounds like the kid whose parents smoke two packs of cigarettes every day driving him to school
Probably why he has asthma…
I would die if you guys cover heavyweights I love that movie so much! In the same vein you could do the little giants too
Bohemian Rhapsody slaps you guys should watch that & avatar the last Airbender 😂😂😂😂 I need Garrick to react
Yall need to watch Cougar Town for the “Tom cruise run” ongoing narrative. Nothing better.
how many months do i hv to wait until succession video discussion. or like never ever ever
The whole trilogy is really good imo
I'm curious if this movie helped with museum ticket sales (if you have to pay for the museum in your neighborhood) after it came out because this was a delight! a sweet and fun movie for all ages.

PLEASE do Heavyweights
BODY!!!
Yall better watch the 2nd and 3rd one
VOYAGE OF THE MIMI!!!!
Wait. Phoebe W-B was supposed to be Jane?? I missed that somehow, but I completely agree with Garrick that Maya Erskin OWNED that role.
Mr and Mrs Smith was so good. I just need clarification on the ending.
I remember Rami Melik best from UNTILL DAWN.
I agree with gerrick. HATE Carl 🙃
you guys called it toy story but id argue its fnaf if the animatronics were cool and didnt want to kill u
I’m only 28 and I feel as if Rainey and I are 12 years apart
I fucking love this movie
I'm glad Zach mixed up Ben Stiller and Ben Affleck, because I did a double take at the beginning of this podcast when they were talking about Ben Stiller, because I remembered it as Ben Affleck 🤦🏻♀️
Oohh please do an episode on Joy Ride!! It was sssooooo good!
Glad Garrick liked Mr and Mrs Smith so much I did too and it’s been a while since I’ve been able to watch anything new. Will just say this James Franco definitely isn’t the white Donald Glover that honour goes to Bo Burnham imho.
Ummm excuse me, Carl was my favorite character!!
Fun family movie :)
Can you do the movie Priscilla???? Or mommy dearest?? One of the creeper movies
Dude I just watched this too😂
