- MONSTER WAVES, Hurricane "Pia" & Massive Storm on the Coast - Cozy Van Life Camping in Extreme Weather - Hunkering down & sheltering from Heavy Rain - 12m/39ft Waves. One of the most intense storms I have ever witnessed on the Atlantic Coast/North Sea. Waves where 12m or 39ft, crashing in from the exposed open ocean. I also spend 2 days riding out and enjoying another magnificent and impressive storm in the fall of 2023 while camping in my van on the coast.
My van is a Fiat Ducato, FWD with Nokian Winter Tires. This is the same as a Ram Promaster in the USA and Canada.

Surviving my first Winter of Extreme Van Life, Blizzard, Snow Storm Camping & Freezing Cold which includes:
This is my complete first winter of Winter Van Life in extreme conditions in the North, living in a van during freezing temperatures. Starting in January I go through the whole winter season of snowy winter adventures from January to April, with snow storms, blizzards, extreme cold, extreme snowfall, slippery roads and some amazing winter beauty as well.
I also show you what I learned from my first winter in the van.
About me: I am a Norwegian adventurer and wilderness explorer. My youtube channel focus on outdoor wilderness adventures and exploration, backpacking, hiking, canyoneering, skiing, climbing and mountaineering. Nights spent in a tent, alone or with friends. From the snow covered mountains and misty fjords of Norway and Scandinavia to the remote plateaus of Yellowstone and the debts of the red canyons of Utah to the summit of Mt Whitney and the heart of Sequoia Kings Canyon National Park. I love the Wilderness! Email is under "For business inquiries", for general questions please comment on a video, I try to answer everyone.

VERY NICE
Was just watching the opening scenes and feeling the same when i dropped my eyes to your comment !!
And homeless animls
My deepest respect goes to all birds in this video.
They are Champions lol! Merry Christmas!
Wish I'd thought to say something about the "birds" in this video
@@azclaimjumper Lol, yeah they are a sturdy lot
They could use your condolences as well.
Love the birds!
Thank you so much for keeping your good camera on that beautiful stormy sea. Your the first one that I know of that has done that so we can feel the beauty of the stormy ocean.
Glad you enjoyed it
You have a good camera as well that takes clear video. Thanks for sharing
Yes and this is a video I'm watching again and again ❤🎉
@@maryhamilton7718 Same. Especially before bed
You should put the ocean/waves/wind on an 8hr loop & post it for sleep. I listen to either rain, ocean or wind in treetops all night, every night. The views are great but don't add mid rolls cause you wake up @ 3am thinking you hear someone in the house, 😮
I have been asked to do that before, will keep it in mind
I so second that request. Plus I love your music you use. Hopefully one day a playlist?
That will be great.
I like sleeping to hurricanes and blizzards... but the wind has to be howling hard
Big ASMR fan and just got into camping videos and found your channel. I really love how you let us enjoy sounds of nature all around you in these beautiful places. I truly love the horrible weather trips you take us on! They’re very exciting to watch and also very comforting as far as nature sounds… wind, rain, snow… all very comforting for someone like me! I have anxiety and these help tremendously. Continued safety and blessings on your adventures! Thanks for putting so much effort into these videos and sharing your explorations with us!
Thank you so much for your kind comment!
Absolutely love your channel. Watch your videos over and over. Helps me wind down at night. Beautiful landscapes and scenes. Places I could only dream of going, let alone being able to experience the thrills that you share with everyone ❤.
Awesome, thank you, and Thanks for being a member of the channel🙏
Again photography is wonderful! I could just watch and listen to it for hours! Thank you so much!
Thank you Merry Christmas!
I am a northern person and I love the nature of the Nordic countries. you are very good at shooting and transmitting the whole atmosphere. continue your work. greetings from Russia 👋
Thank you so much!
Hurricanes are magnificently terrifying!! We stayed in our home during Hurricane Micheal.
Hope it went well!
Fantastic! That first spot was great. Very relaxing and cozy. The the Hurricane proper struck! I LOVE these seaside storm-in-a-van adventures!
Glad you enjoyed it! Merry Christmas!
Am so enjoying vicariously experiencing your epic 'van life'.
Happy to hear that! New video today
What an adrenaline-packed adventure! Facing Hurricane 'Pia' with those 12m waves is both thrilling and nerve-wracking. Your van life resilience in extreme weather is unmatched! 🌊🚐 #NorwegianExplorer #StormChaser
Thank you so much:-)
Wow!! The awesome power of mother nature. That must have been so intimidating to watch firsthand. You live in such a beautiful country. Thank you for sharing
Thank you so much!
The most astonishing for me is the light. Unbelievably beautiful. This is true living.
Thank you!

Thanks for watching!
...non potrei stare lì con questo vento...ma guardare da qui, questi grandi cavalloni bianchi di spuma, galoppare e poi alzarsi, per raggiungere il suolo circostante....per me, è una bella emozione... grazie
Thank you Maria!
Love this station lol
This place is just Beautiful 😍
Love the orange slippers! Feet all cosy 😄
They are indeed!
It looks like a safe place but you never know with the ocean. Way better to be SAFE. You can always go back to the first place when it’s safer. My goodness it’s a lively ocean storm. Love it.
Jarl, you outdid yourself with this video. Amazing footage of both storms (two for the price of one). I have to say I was very impressed with the sturdy seawalls they construct in this part of the world. Thanks for the great storms - you never disappoint.
Thanks Judi, the sea walls are very sturdy here because of the extreme weather, that being said this is also the strongest winds that have been measured in 7 years I think. Merry Christmas!
Look after yourself Norseman! Have a great jol and thanks for all the wonderful adventures you’ve shared this year 🫡
Thank you! Merry Christmas!
Shows again how mighty Mother Nature is 🫣🫣🫣🫣🫣
It is indeed Mighty
Ahh my dream come true Jaal, to be in storms all the time!! And in a van!!! I'll have to go to Norway and get me a van. Love the sound of the wind
Your videos blow me away. They show off your multitude of skills (videographer, content creator, creative artist, and hardcore explorer, to name a few). This is why you are a professional, WOW! National Geographic has got nothing on you! 😉
You create the whole gamut of emotions - from nailbiting moments to total Zen. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ~Paxton
Sending my best holiday wishes your way

Thanks Paxton! Merry Christmas!
It appears you and I enjoy the same environments. I’m not the kind of a guy that flies to a hotel on a tropical Island. I’m the kind of guy that gets in my truck and heads north during the winter.
I very much enjoy your videos. I especially like the way you give us some time to appreciate the areas where you stop. This tiny world we live on is incredibly beautiful.
I’m a retired career airline pilot and I have seen my share of violent weather from the cockpit, but nothing compares to being on the ground and experiencing it firsthand.
Carry on my friend and fellow traveler. I’ll be watching.
Thanks for watching! Appreciate your kind comment!
Hey! Maybe think about adding a air fryer for your van kitchen appliance for your adventures! It will help expand your recipe repertoire! 😊
Excellent video! Thank you
You are welcome!
This is DEEP cozy. Thanks for posting
Glad you like it!

You do love mother nature at her most dangerous. Such a cozy van you have. Love the rain on the roof and the wind swirling around you.Your video is enchanting, sight and sounds. Take care, be safe, happy new year!
Thank you Candy, happy new year!
@NorwegianXplorer HI, it's warm here by lake Cushman, almost 50 degrees. You would not like it. It is very wet and foggy and dark. The Olympic mountain that I look at has just a little snow. It's elevation around 7thousand feet. The rivers are high and we have had some flooding. You would probably want to camp on rivers edge. Ha ha.
Lol, I have been in the Cascades and got some wet weather up there by Glacier peak as well:-)
Beautiful sir I love your videos..so calm less talk nature and peaceful sound more..
Many thanks
Your videos are amazing as usual. Thank you for sharing ❤❤

U keep ur home lovely lovely video
Thank you!
The other trouble with parking next to the sea in windy conditions is your van gets covered in salt water spray
Yes, but salt is a way of life up here, there roads are full of salt 6 months a year
SURE CAN HEAR IT AND SEE IT LIKE LOOKING OUT MY WINDOW.
Cool, are you watching on a TV or phone?
Fantastic, makes you feel alive . Really exciting to experience being there .
Couldn't agree more! Merry Christmas!
I love rain, without wind 😂
Lol
Thank You! Incredible video❤️
Glad you liked it! Merry Christmas!
Simply phenomenal footage!
Thank you!
What a great set up. I would love to do this and just travel where the wind blows.
It is amazing!
Spectacular! Ahh, to be seagul in moments such as these. 💯😀
Thank you for sharing!
Yes to be one of those seagulls indeed
I have thoroughly enjoyed your Pia video. You always bring awesome action packed content. Sometimes I get scared for you because you are a really nice guy. I’ll keep watching all you bring to us. Thank you so much.
Thank you Anne:-)
Really nice weather! :-D
I camped in Bleik in Sep 2022, at night with wind gusts of 9 to 10 bft. Was also a lovely experience. You could hear the really strong gusts of wind in advance through the rocks or the tunnel. I could only sleep for a maximum of 15 minutes, at some point during the night I put the car more into the wind. 😅
Sounds great! I always try to park into the wind as well, so much more relaxing
@@NorwegianXplorer Yes, it was still comfortable at the beginning, even if it was quite rough. But with every gust of wind, you start to think about putting the car into the wind a little more. And because I couldn't fall asleep, I actually googled at 2 a.m. what wind speeds can cause a van to overturn. The math on this is not clear and also depends on the profile of the van, but you can roughly assume 120 to 140 km/h (depending on the height profile and weight shift). In the end, I parked it a little differently for safety reasons. There is also another reason for this: some of the attachments on the top of the roof are also designed to take a beating in the direction of travel (also headwind). But I wasn't so sure about the sideways influence after all...
Thanks for the video anyway! I can follow every second (and enjoy it) :D
120kph, that would 33.3m/s which is hurricane force and the reason I didnt take the van out to see this hurricane. Winds where up to 41m/s here, which would be above 140kph
Crazy weather we just had here. Some really cool shots you got.I live next to the sea but did not get wet fået,so it was just interesting to watch the storm Pia😊 Happy hollydays.
Yeah it was pretty epic up here! Merry Christmas!
You wrap w/ chips and veggies always makes me hungry.
