That is true though I've poked my head around and I see competitions brewing 5 to 10 years out. Hopefully PS2 will be ready to hold it's own for when or if they come.
Based on all videos, it is like PoE in ARPG world. No matter how fucked up situation may be, there is no competitor to "force" developers (or PMs\POs, as they decide most of the things) to do better.
The campaigns not being acessible is a big let down imo, the whole effort done to it is being wasted for no reason?! The campaings were far from good, but at least you could get some free cosmetics and new players like free stuff, or a way to grind towards it.
It is extremely disappointing, and some games and even worse, I came from Counter-Strike where they've done annual operations and none of them can be accessed again.
Lol, I remember having to ask in the comment section of a PS2 video once about the same thing. Game-specific lingo or abbreviations can seem very foreign to new players for sure.
I absolutely love this game. Such a great 'pick up and play' game. It's so gratifying to realise you're improving on this. Going from just another grunt to being the one responsible for breaking the enemy line. Yes it can be frustrating, but diversifying your loadouts or play style will reward you immensely!
Recently returned veteran overview: I been around since BETA and I left PS2 when PS2 Arena and Construction vehicles were announced. I recently returned a few weeks ago (Oct, 2021) and to keep things short and simple, unlike BETA or early stages of PS2 (2-3yrs) after release, the game actually feels and plays like a finished product (2021). Yes, I recommend giving the game a chance to show you how far it has come along. Goodluck 👍
If you want to dump 3000+ hours into an account, be an overly active member of the community since day 1 in 2012, participate in events for Emerald such as Lane Smash and Outfit wars, not to mention the hundreds of dollars in cosmetics, and then suddenly wake up in a Monday morning with an email telling you you got banned for no reason other than "cheating" and have the Daybreak customer support refuse to watch your recordings that you happen to record of every literal minute you play their game where you prove you're legit then use condescending insults for daring to appeal the ban, then this game is for you.
I saw the drama when they got you banned for nothing and I haven't played since, it motivated me to move on to a different game, sucks even harder that you had just brought in fresh new players to the game to join our outfit, the rudeness of the customer support screenshots were the cherry on top that made me quit, that "guilty without a chance of being proven innocent" philosophy from DBG is garbage. I really wish you luck bro.
Too bad TR leadership is non existant and TR rarely wins alerts because of it. They just fight VS and don't defend against NC. You should have chosen VS... on Emerald at least
My only quibbles/questions in regards to why I stopped playing after playing at launch for a few years and actually going back and playing the original Planetside instead for a bit: - Did they ever make driver and gunner separated roles on more of the original vehicles? - Did they ever make the logistical transportation of troops to the front lines relevant again or is the Galaxy drop or Vehicle convoys still a novelty next to the base spawn teleportation? - Is spawn camping still the deciding factor of base conquest or are base component progress more widely featured yet? - Did they ever make map racing circuits an official event? - Did they integrate ANT base building to be more a part of standard bases or is it still relegated to the outskirts of map limitations?
3 days/~90 min for a new weapon??? Holy hell. I remember playing for 12 hours trying to get one, and then never switching off engi or medic because that's where the certs were at if you weren't good with planes. The cert grind is what made me quit playing!
@@vermillionreptilian9871 Right? it was such a grind! You can now get 300 certs + ~7k xp a day from missions as a f2p. Only thing is it's DEFINITELY not as quick as he said in the video. I've been doing it and it takes a good 2-4 hours a day depending on what you do. Some missions have to be skipped, especially if you play on late hours where there's too few ppl to damage vehicles, for instance. Still, You can get a 1k cert wep in 3 days/
Good memories defending The Crown and Bastion. My buddy and I used to go flank sunderers and counter snipe. Its very immersive, and takes strategy and tactics to play. Not really any mlg pro 420 sliding moves like in CoD. It feels and looks so good

Great video but I'm really disappointed to see you advertising a block chain / NFT scam on this video. This is a really helpful video for new or returning players, and it's unfortunate to see you advertising what is esentially a pyramid scheme to your viewers. I get that sponsorships help you make content... but that really doesn't seem like the sort of sponsor that is good for the community.
What's wrong with NFT's/crypto? Feel like they are main stream now, or is it not there yet? There is certainly a chance their idea complete fails and the currency is left worthless, there is a race to create new currencies right now. But some of them do survive and become useful.

If someone is in deep on crypto, they got there by investing in the sort of hardware that could do crypto mining en masse. That usually means computers, servers, GPUs, and the electricity to run them. Their only real way to recoup the value of all the time, money, and resources they've spent generating those crypto currency tokens, is to get new people to invest so their investment retains value. Since the production of crypto currency requires more and more processing power with each coin that gets minted, later adopters will always have to invest more resources for less return. Since each new person getting in has less chance at making any sort of profit, eventually, someone will get stuck holding the bag. Which is, basically the definition of a pyramid scheme. Crypto currency mining is part of the reason that the graphics card market has been so tight the past few years since GPUs provided a relatively cheap way to boost a crypto mining server. The chip shortage & pandemic haven't helped this, but crypto mining was a big part of the reason graphics cards were getting expensive. And they also just don't make sense for games. Crypto currency in most games fills a pretty similar role to TF2/Steam's hat economy or EVE Online's real-world backed currencies. But neither of those systems required a server somewhere to crunch weird math problems, they just flip a bit and create the item. Both of those economies took off and had value because they were tied to games that were already worth playing. The problem with a lot of crypto-gaming projects is they are launching with the crypto pitch first, then making nebulous promises about the games that will be attached to them. I wouldn't try to sell anyone on TF2 by saying "yeah, there's a great hat economy!" but that's kinda what crypto-gaming companies are trying to do. I'm not a big FPS guy but for me Planetside 2 was the best experience I had, trying the new Halo just made me say "well yes but Planetside 2 was better..."
Always join an outfit! each faction has major outfits. join those outfits. you'll oftenfind players within the outfits who can help teach you (some will be a-holes, but just ignore them). on emerald, TR has AODR, and Warpigs, VS has SKL, and NC has... actually I have no idea lmao. Im sure they have one, I just don't know which one.
Connery has a plethora of outfits also, regardless of faction there are people like me who will answer your questions. We even have outfit rivalries, foe example, my outfit is Drunk Division(HMRD) and we'll set up massive tank battles with NC or VS outfits
I just started playing a couple of months ago, and it's a great, great game. The learning curve is steep, but so long as you don't feel the need to be running around the battlefield like a tank demolishing anyone who gets in your way, it's still incredibly fun. It's all about teamwork and tactics.
I have a lot of fun with my son just driving around doing construction on the fringes of battles. He loves that. Doesn't care about K/D or anything. Battle ANT for the win.
Yeah, I sure do recommend Planetside 2 anyday, but it's not for the "faint" hearted. My friends lost interest solely because of the Veterans roaming. (Non-toxic encounters)
I remember the first time i entered this game when it was released. I couldnt believe my eyes what I was experience. The scale of the game was something id never seen before
Never too late But I will say, I pity for that these poor souls never experiencing getting the body grinned down in the hell that was the old OLD Crown and old TI Alloys. Going to bed, wake up, go to school, get back onto the Planetmans and find out that the very same fight from the night before is still going. Good times, gooooood times.
If you think MAX suits are scary now; in the first game the Vanu MAX could FLY like a light assault and thier AA weapon was essentially a lock on plasma cannon that fired teleporting lasers. No one had archers and decimators could only hold 3 rockets.
I played untill 2014 since beta and having played planetside 1 for a bit before that (NC). Its so good to see it is still active and that foremost the LATTICE SYSTEM is in place. I could almost swear that the battles were having now in the game are about as intense as they used to be, its just a different style of maps we're playing. I really do miss the underground battles in facilities from ps1, but hey, cant have everything.
Let me give you the REAL new player experience. Me and a group of friends decided to try it out. We made our characters, finished our tutorials and get thrown in to battle. We get completely masacred non-stop farmed for a good hour or so. Okay, another day another chance, right? Throughout most of the day only Koltyr(Not sure if that was the name) is the only continent available on Europe with barely anyone playing it. During the evening there's only ever 1 continent to choose from and as NC were always on the losing end of a stick with a few zones left in the corner getting farmed from both sides. At most we've seen 3 battles going on at the same time, and most of the time 2 of those 3 are hundreads of people spawn farming the few that are there. You could spent literally hours waiting on the map to find a non one sided battle. So most of our time was spent getting completely farmed hour after hour, barely ever getting to kill something. Excluding the free certs given to low levels making 30 certs an hour while getting 1-2 tapped from every side in every battle. From the person with worst aim(me) to the person with the large FPS experience, every single friend had a horrible time of getting completely slaughtered constantly. Day after day, less people from the group wanted to login and finally I gave up too. Its not that the game is unfair, its just what happens with old games with no new players playing. You get farmed by the veterans with tens of thousands of hours in the game, and you are just expected to invest hundreds if not thousands of hours literally catching up(not with certs but with aim, game knowledge, positiong etc). I'm sorry but its 2021, there are literally thousands of games out there. No one is going to suffer through hundreds of hours getting farmed just so at some point you'll be on a even field with the veterans. To most people out there its just not worth it.
Play games with matchmaking and come back (if you want) once you are average or above in those. I have 260? hours in planetside 2 but previous experience in matchmaking games and I outplay most people in ps2 (literally got a 15 killstreak while doing close quarter combat bolting today within 10 minutes of launching the game). Planetside 2 is amazing once you join an active outfit but I would NEVER recommend it to a new gamer.
Not only can I confirm your experience, Damien, I can also say I shared it. I have attempted to get friends into the game with me, only to have them frustrate themselves into uninstalling the game. The "Vets" are much like any group of people who have invested tons of time into something...they want to be the best, and for most of them, that means an extremely self-centered style of gameplay. New players don't matter to them in the slightest...most of them have become too fixated on their K/D to ever think about teaching anyone the stuff that they have learned over their years of gameplay...not to mention they literally have no clue what it is like to step into PS2 with no experience. The only redemption I can offer, for PS2, is find an outfit that is willing to spend some time helping you learn the gameplay (and how to deal with the endless issues that the game actually has, but no-one talks about). I would say come back to the game...spend some time in the VR Trainer learning what playstyle you enjoy, find an outfit (the forums are a good start, or search for a discord), and have your Squad help you earn enough certs to build a workable loadout for you.
Good resume. New and old players will appreciate that. A part of me says its a fun game (that i enjoy every seconds of it) and that i will continue but another part is saying that i should give it less time now. I know, i shouldnt remind people about some bad decisions the devs did sometime. Like, where is Oshyrr that we were promised a year ago? They could have more things at the vendors in the sanctuary. The burlap camo is fun and its nice to have to diversify the colors but... Its been quite a while that they havent added another one now... And, personnally, my A7 are just getting more dusts because i have nothing to spend it on. You know what i also miss? I miss the Air anomaly. Sure, the rewards werent great and the system wasnt perfect but i enjoyed every second of big air fights (with free air vehicle) and it gave some skyguard/rangers targets to shoot at (while said vehicle were now targets by C4 or anti vehicle) while giving new players or average players free air vehicle to practice/have fun with. So all i can say is, as long planetside 2 gives you fun, for free (if you arent a member or a spending cash on cosmetics and etc), ill say continue play. Having fun with friends or oufits is always worth it and it is never too late.
Planetside is a shadow of what it was and what it could have been. The appalling hit reg is really what annoys me more than the multitude of other problems.
For a new video topic, here's one that's been on my mind. I've been playing this game off and on since launch, almost a decade now, and recently I've been having the problem that my irl schedule makes it difficult for me to get online for my outfit's weekly Ops Nights. So my question is if you have any tips for how someone like me can find ways to feel productive in game if I can only play during off-hours. I'm an above average skill level FPS player, statistically. Hardly an elite, but good enough to get by. If that helps.
This would be an interesting discussion in a video. I found myself in a similar situation; for me personally what I find satisfying is deploying or busting spawn logistics as a meaningful high impact gameplay style. Especially when population is low, if you show up to a base with a sunderer and a router you can single-handedly turn the tide and that feels amazing. Sometimes all I do is hunt enemy sunderers, or destroy routers as a deep operative stalker cloak infiltrator.
@@soulshinobi ^ This I have one person I play with regularly still; the rest of our Outfits dissolved years ago. Quite often, a couple nerds in AP Lightnings can change the tide of battle. We go around sundy busting and counter-attacking much larger armor columns at range. When Im alone, I often take a scout radar kobalt ANT to defend a sunderer or just HESH proxy radar. Other times I use AP if its one of those small battles where one enemy Lightning can wreck the fight, AP it is. I also plop routers down in good places. Lots of things a lone player can do; even just as infantry. Notice no recon darts? Infiltrator it is. Everyone dying and no heals? Medic it is. Etc etc.
i never run with large outfits and rarely join a platoon unless im really bored, i suggest learning how the battles flow and taking the intiative to pull a tank when the enemy spawn needs to be destroyed, or a sundee when your team is pushing forward to get the next base so. The exp and cert gain for these task are massive and provide an impactful experience. Try to pick the smaller fights and make it you mission to capture the next base, dont get cought up on killing the enemy, thats not how you win and when you are with players who also arent on a dedicated team make sure to communicate with them via /re to make callouts, this will launch a faction wide message to anyone at the same base/fight as you weather youre in a platoon with them or not

We need a community feature for major outfits on each faction! I'll try to sow seeds and get the project started. The outfits are such a huge part of the content, changes so much about how the game plays. Picking the right outfit can make or break the experience, and each outfit has different advantages for each player. Big deal
2.5k hours in the game and im finaly got my kd to 2.3, as a new player i was too obssessed with learning to fly the ESF, building ANT bases, farming the campaigns, upgrading my sunderer perks, testing different weapons, and when i was finnaly infantry i would go in solo with no team and try to win thinking my 3.9 warzone KD meant anything. But this is not your typical FPS. In order to be succesfful the first thing you should do is go to the menu, join the largest outfit you can find, then join the largest platoon you can find. Their commanders should lead you to where the best fights are, with medics tanks airsupport and engineer/max teams that are on your side so you arent stuck in the spawn room getting blown up by the enemy. Also another tip, the starting weapons are some of the best weapons dont waste your currency on an expensive gun that is balanced to be equal or worse, buy anything other than weapons. Also dont be scared to test the water with the 3 different factions (dont play he NSO robot faction, its tuned towards veterans). Even at 2.5k hours i still cant pick which one is my favorite.
I remember back in 2016 when I just joined I had like 0.3 kd per session with almost no battle influence and today I'm able to hold a point for full 2 minutes on matterson's triumph againt a full squad as a heavy or an obelisk infiltrator, headshots are really magic in this game
If there's one tip I can think of for Planetside players new or old of all calibers, all ages, all skill levels... It's this: Have a meal before you play. Big, small, whatever, it doesn't matter; get some calories in you before you play. I find it helps curb the rage that can very easily happen to anyone.
I play PS2 from time to time, often with month-long breaks (I generally don’t play much). I must say, every time, when I try new shooter, I find myself back on Auraxis 😊 - although, as I said, I play rarely, I never uninstalled PS2. There is no other game like this one.
it's the biggest shooter around it's worth playing working with a group is so fun when you get a good flank off with your squad or roll up in a dozen tanks or drive into a base with a sunderer full of maxes or being a gunner in the ship seeing dozens of enemy aircraft coming to take it out i hope this game gets popular it's underrated as hell
18:58 I helped a friend get the game started and setup just a day ago, once we logged into his character on his PC, it was at 0 certs I think you have to do the tutorial for it (probs can still do the missions for it if you skipped it)

I play on PS4 pro on and off over the years. There's nothing else like this gem anywhere on the market, and I love it. I think the problem is , when I try to get friends to play it, they think it's old and ugly, and they're 100% right. It turns them off immediately. You have to know what this game is capable of to overlook it's age and performance
I wanted to play this back when it came out, the biggest draw for me was the fps and scale of the multiplayer. Probably won't happen, but it would be awesome to have this game on new consoles like the series x and ps5.
I think this game runs at native 4k 60 fps on next gen consoles. Also a statement from the dev Working on next gen updates... Or better yet I hope they just make planetside 3 soon
If you ever worried about catch up, pick VS, we have the best LMG in the game for free, weapons are easy to contorl. Most important, we don't make you follow tyranny or misguided freedom.
Is planetside 2 balanced? No! Are factions balanced? No! Is it just other game with textures and skins? Hell No! It is unique game, not just new reskinned cashgrab like call of duty or Battlefield. It is very hard for new players. Most of the games that require skill are slowly dying or not receiving many players, i get it. It is easier to uninstall a game than learn it. Fine, search for something easy. For those who love challenge, unique game styles, join PlanetSide 2. Do not worry about picking other faction than we are, you can add ''enemies'' to friend list and chat. :)) Good luck, have fun. :)
Best free game you'll ever play..just grind till at least rank 30ish..and youll get the hype. expect to die alot at first, then youll wake up one day and realize your surviving alot longer ;) skill kicks in & FUN.
Me and my friends always get back to this game no matter how many months we took a break from it but we always keep up with it. Its uniqueness wont let the game die
I first discovered Planetside via my cousin, who got it himself way back, I don't remember the exact year. I picked it up myself in August of 2020, and I had some enjoyable moments. It kinda reminded me of Battlefield 1942, the first online game I ever played. The whole open-world PvP feel was very similar. Now, many months and many, many games later, I wonder if it will be a good use of PC space. Eh, why not. I have over a terabyte of space at the moment. 15ish gB isn't gonna hurt it too bad.

I don't know exactly why, but I logged in in Jan2021 after nearly 7 years (haven't played too much back in 2014 but I made it to BR38 then) - and though I didn't play too much last January, I really got stuck playing it since November'21, when I wanted to test the performance on my new PC build. Now I play fairly regulary at the moment (pretty often would be more accurate, BR84 on my new Character), play with an outfit and after several weeks of main-Infil-stalking, I now discovered the love of the ambush-deimos-LA-load out :D Can't say how long this phase will be, but at the moment it's just the game to play for me (I even paid them for some cosmetics - dat sky whale is just majestic and I hope they fix the underwater handling on Oshur, so I can be an majestic nautical whale aswell) and I never came across any game like it
I will try it out again to the contrary I havent had a bad kd ratio but there is so much to do and customize its not easy to reccomend as pickup and play...Most MMOs have systems when player is slowly digesting content and offers in PS2 they barf everything at you which is quite a problem. Back in the day I liked how easy to digest it was when there werent so much of it.
The Robots fight on one of the three pre existing human factions as allies. Every one of the 3 human factions will have a certain amount of robot soldiers fighting with them at any given time; but ultimately the war is still a 3 way. The Robot NS faction does not take territory or bases themselves.
Arena/3 could of been great if they werent trying to hop on the Battle Royale Trend, as I dont think people that wanted to play a planetside game were looking for a battle royale experience. i think were really seeing a resurgance of people that like games other than Battle Royale. Were starting too see that too with Halo Infinite and BF2042 not launching with a Battle Royale Game mode. Back to planetside though I suspect part of the reason that it has sustained itself as long as it has been that progress in it sticks year after year, and that the sandbox is absolutley massive. I do think that the game could be more clear as to the idea thats its basically bigger Domination game mode where the domination games happen at bases along the lattice. Essentially control the points at the bases to win the "Battle"

Hehe I"m a vet of this game. Now I wanna get back into it since the past 4 years; a LOT has changed! I just recently got back to Guild Wars 2 just this year after 8 years and man... A LOT HAS ALSO CHANGED!! LOL I also just purchased Battlefield 2042 and I'm so happy that they are doing the sandbox thing too. Unfortunately all these critics are giving it a bad score and I think most likely never played Planetside 2. These are the players that just play wayyyy too much COD. The whole idea of the battle royale are not my cup of tea and I'm sure I would love Battlefield 2042.
Did they fix the issue with cluster stops of flow where you are stuck for 10-20 minutes everytime a conquest starts? If this issue gets somehow fixed then there is truly nothing to get even close to the Planetside 2 experience out there!
Daybreak does not care about this game the way we hope they do. Profit is number one, always. They don't seem to take action against the most blatant cheating because those cheaters are obviously spending tons of money ( always full gaudy cosmetic outfit and a rainbow flag or some shit, notice? ), bugs that are years old are still present, item shop stuff is greedily hilariously overpriced, they can't even seem to figure out having us face the correct way when we spawn in a spawn tube! They don't care. Milk the game for all it's worth but put zero effort into it. Too bad, because the game is fun and unique. Trash customer support, they have you running in circles. Look at all these paid shills "McLovin' it!!" in the comments. My advice to new players or those returning, play it for free, because that is what it's worth at this point. They've made their money and now it's just low effort tweaks to string you along. For context, I played PS1 starting in beta, and did PS2 beta as well. I'm old, and I guess fed up.
there's so many continents, yet everytime I have some time to play, it's Koltyr and this is my main issue with the game. Though I still login sometimes, being limited to Koltyr gets old. Also the "missions" are practically useless, I have never been as distracted from playing the game as when I had a random mission to complete. Why would I want to go out of my way and play an infiltrator to go and hack a station? And that's not even all of my complaints about missions.
what region do you live in,a nd what regiondo you play in? koltyr is only open during "off" hours (typically around the opposite of "prime time" which is usually between 5pm-11pm in every region's time zone. typically a main continent is open from about 2am to 2pm depending on the server.
@@avaliantsoul5408 rather than playing in the prime time of my region, I can usually play during the morning hours, which is almost always the server's down times, with maybe a hundred or so people tops. And that's not even the biggest problem, because if the "missions" weren't so much of a mess, requiring you to get 20 kills as a class you are not good with, maybe instead make it a large pool of "get 50 kills during your session", it would be much easier to manage. Most of my time is spent peeking out of a corner in Koltyr and getting shot and owned most of the time anyway. Recently most of my cert earnings have been from popping down a sunderer somewhere and trying to work with a random group, or playing heavy in close quarters, which again, I couldn't complete the mission of because there weren't enough vehicle spawns anywhere.

I used to be super active during prime time, but I took a nightshift job so now I mostly play in the morning as well. its a shame PS2 doesn't have more players, as that would really ease the pain of not having enough pop for even koltyr (I've had some great times there, but Emerald often has almost 150-200 players on koltyr when I play) unfortunately, the game is really meant to be played during prime time with its current active playercount, so there's not much the devs can do. the mission structure makes sense during prime time, but It definitely has issues when its koltyr. i wouldn't mind if the devs too the time to make Koltyr-only missions that are more generic so that they can be completed on koltyr, because getting those hacks as an infil is seriously painful, and sometimes downright impossible.
I started to play a month ago, and for a couple of weeks i was obssesed, even i spent some money to buy a cool armor. But now i dont play it anymore. What that fast come, fast gone. I still have it installed and i play very sporadically.
this is a wonderful game, but you have to have a lot of free time at first, to learn the game. But once you reach something like BR50+ you can jump in for a quick 15~30min session, get your dose of fun and go back to life, because you know what to do, you know how to get fun. You don't have to commit like you would be playing CSGO competitive or something. Me, however, after 2k+ hours I don't find this game fun any more. It was fun back in the day, when it was broken and unbalanced. But balance after balance, nerf after nerf I left the game. And devs are very lazy in terms of a map design, map/base design is still stuck in an early 2000's.. They also downgraded the graphics of the game while optimizing and the game just doesn't feel the same any more. It looks dull. You are wonderful content creator, I wish you would move on into the games like Battlefield.

The campaigns not being acessible is a big let down imo, the whole effort done to it is being wasted for no reason?! The campaings were far from good, but at least you could get some free cosmetics and new players like free stuff, or a way to grind towards it.
It is extremely disappointing, and some games and even worse, I came from Counter-Strike where they've done annual operations and none of them can be accessed again.

It's so gratifying to realise you're improving on this. Going from just another grunt to being the one responsible for breaking the enemy line.
Yes it can be frustrating, but diversifying your loadouts or play style will reward you immensely!

Recently returned veteran overview: I been around since BETA and I left PS2 when PS2 Arena and Construction vehicles were announced. I recently returned a few weeks ago (Oct, 2021) and to keep things short and simple, unlike BETA or early stages of PS2 (2-3yrs) after release, the game actually feels and plays like a finished product (2021). Yes, I recommend giving the game a chance to show you how far it has come along. Goodluck 👍
If you want to dump 3000+ hours into an account, be an overly active member of the community since day 1 in 2012, participate in events for Emerald such as Lane Smash and Outfit wars, not to mention the hundreds of dollars in cosmetics, and then suddenly wake up in a Monday morning with an email telling you you got banned for no reason other than "cheating" and have the Daybreak customer support refuse to watch your recordings that you happen to record of every literal minute you play their game where you prove you're legit then use condescending insults for daring to appeal the ban, then this game is for you.
I saw the drama when they got you banned for nothing and I haven't played since, it motivated me to move on to a different game, sucks even harder that you had just brought in fresh new players to the game to join our outfit, the rudeness of the customer support screenshots were the cherry on top that made me quit, that "guilty without a chance of being proven innocent" philosophy from DBG is garbage. I really wish you luck bro.

Too bad TR leadership is non existant and TR rarely wins alerts because of it. They just fight VS and don't defend against NC. You should have chosen VS... on Emerald at least

My only quibbles/questions in regards to why I stopped playing after playing at launch for a few years and actually going back and playing the original Planetside instead for a bit:
- Did they ever make driver and gunner separated roles on more of the original vehicles?
- Did they ever make the logistical transportation of troops to the front lines relevant again or is the Galaxy drop or Vehicle convoys still a novelty next to the base spawn teleportation?
- Is spawn camping still the deciding factor of base conquest or are base component progress more widely featured yet?
- Did they ever make map racing circuits an official event?
- Did they integrate ANT base building to be more a part of standard bases or is it still relegated to the outskirts of map limitations?
Honestly, now i see more and more base builidng in the game

3 days/~90 min for a new weapon??? Holy hell. I remember playing for 12 hours trying to get one, and then never switching off engi or medic because that's where the certs were at if you weren't good with planes.
The cert grind is what made me quit playing!

@@vermillionreptilian9871 Right? it was such a grind! You can now get 300 certs + ~7k xp a day from missions as a f2p. Only thing is it's DEFINITELY not as quick as he said in the video. I've been doing it and it takes a good 2-4 hours a day depending on what you do. Some missions have to be skipped, especially if you play on late hours where there's too few ppl to damage vehicles, for instance. Still, You can get a 1k cert wep in 3 days/
Good memories defending The Crown and Bastion. My buddy and I used to go flank sunderers and counter snipe. Its very immersive, and takes strategy and tactics to play. Not really any mlg pro 420 sliding moves like in CoD. It feels and looks so good

The big problem of crypto currencies is two fold: they rely on wasting processor cycles in order to create "value" (which also means, consuming electricity) and their return on investment works a lot like a pyramid scheme.
If someone is in deep on crypto, they got there by investing in the sort of hardware that could do crypto mining en masse. That usually means computers, servers, GPUs, and the electricity to run them. Their only real way to recoup the value of all the time, money, and resources they've spent generating those crypto currency tokens, is to get new people to invest so their investment retains value. Since the production of crypto currency requires more and more processing power with each coin that gets minted, later adopters will always have to invest more resources for less return. Since each new person getting in has less chance at making any sort of profit, eventually, someone will get stuck holding the bag. Which is, basically the definition of a pyramid scheme.

But also, crypto and NFTs are just not good for video games specifically.
Crypto currency mining is part of the reason that the graphics card market has been so tight the past few years since GPUs provided a relatively cheap way to boost a crypto mining server. The chip shortage & pandemic haven't helped this, but crypto mining was a big part of the reason graphics cards were getting expensive.
And they also just don't make sense for games. Crypto currency in most games fills a pretty similar role to TF2/Steam's hat economy or EVE Online's real-world backed currencies. But neither of those systems required a server somewhere to crunch weird math problems, they just flip a bit and create the item. Both of those economies took off and had value because they were tied to games that were already worth playing. The problem with a lot of crypto-gaming projects is they are launching with the crypto pitch first, then making nebulous promises about the games that will be attached to them. I wouldn't try to sell anyone on TF2 by saying "yeah, there's a great hat economy!" but that's kinda what crypto-gaming companies are trying to do. And that should probably be a red-flag for us as a community.

each faction has major outfits. join those outfits. you'll oftenfind players within the outfits who can help teach you (some will be a-holes, but just ignore them).
on emerald, TR has AODR, and Warpigs, VS has SKL, and NC has... actually I have no idea lmao. Im sure they have one, I just don't know which one.
Connery has a plethora of outfits also, regardless of faction there are people like me who will answer your questions. We even have outfit rivalries, foe example, my outfit is Drunk Division(HMRD) and we'll set up massive tank battles with NC or VS outfits

4000 hours and I'm still addicted
I just started playing a couple of months ago, and it's a great, great game. The learning curve is steep, but so long as you don't feel the need to be running around the battlefield like a tank demolishing anyone who gets in your way, it's still incredibly fun. It's all about teamwork and tactics.
I have a lot of fun with my son just driving around doing construction on the fringes of battles. He loves that. Doesn't care about K/D or anything. Battle ANT for the win.
Yeah, I sure do recommend Planetside 2 anyday, but it's not for the "faint" hearted. My friends lost interest solely because of the Veterans roaming. (Non-toxic encounters)

If you think MAX suits are scary now; in the first game the Vanu MAX could FLY like a light assault and thier AA weapon was essentially a lock on plasma cannon that fired teleporting lasers.
No one had archers and decimators could only hold 3 rockets.

I played untill 2014 since beta and having played planetside 1 for a bit before that (NC). Its so good to see it is still active and that foremost the LATTICE SYSTEM is in place. I could almost swear that the battles were having now in the game are about as intense as they used to be, its just a different style of maps we're playing.
I really do miss the underground battles in facilities from ps1, but hey, cant have everything.
Let me give you the REAL new player experience. Me and a group of friends decided to try it out. We made our characters, finished our tutorials and get thrown in to battle. We get completely masacred non-stop farmed for a good hour or so. Okay, another day another chance, right? Throughout most of the day only Koltyr(Not sure if that was the name) is the only continent available on Europe with barely anyone playing it. During the evening there's only ever 1 continent to choose from and as NC were always on the losing end of a stick with a few zones left in the corner getting farmed from both sides. At most we've seen 3 battles going on at the same time, and most of the time 2 of those 3 are hundreads of people spawn farming the few that are there. You could spent literally hours waiting on the map to find a non one sided battle. So most of our time was spent getting completely farmed hour after hour, barely ever getting to kill something. Excluding the free certs given to low levels making 30 certs an hour while getting 1-2 tapped from every side in every battle. From the person with worst aim(me) to the person with the large FPS experience, every single friend had a horrible time of getting completely slaughtered constantly. Day after day, less people from the group wanted to login and finally I gave up too. Its not that the game is unfair, its just what happens with old games with no new players playing. You get farmed by the veterans with tens of thousands of hours in the game, and you are just expected to invest hundreds if not thousands of hours literally catching up(not with certs but with aim, game knowledge, positiong etc). I'm sorry but its 2021, there are literally thousands of games out there. No one is going to suffer through hundreds of hours getting farmed just so at some point you'll be on a even field with the veterans. To most people out there its just not worth it.
Play games with matchmaking and come back (if you want) once you are average or above in those.
I have 260? hours in planetside 2 but previous experience in matchmaking games and I outplay most people in ps2 (literally got a 15 killstreak while doing close quarter combat bolting today within 10 minutes of launching the game).
Planetside 2 is amazing once you join an active outfit but I would NEVER recommend it to a new gamer.
Not only can I confirm your experience, Damien, I can also say I shared it. I have attempted to get friends into the game with me, only to have them frustrate themselves into uninstalling the game. The "Vets" are much like any group of people who have invested tons of time into something...they want to be the best, and for most of them, that means an extremely self-centered style of gameplay. New players don't matter to them in the slightest...most of them have become too fixated on their K/D to ever think about teaching anyone the stuff that they have learned over their years of gameplay...not to mention they literally have no clue what it is like to step into PS2 with no experience.
The only redemption I can offer, for PS2, is find an outfit that is willing to spend some time helping you learn the gameplay (and how to deal with the endless issues that the game actually has, but no-one talks about).
I would say come back to the game...spend some time in the VR Trainer learning what playstyle you enjoy, find an outfit (the forums are a good start, or search for a discord), and have your Squad help you earn enough certs to build a workable loadout for you.

A part of me says its a fun game (that i enjoy every seconds of it) and that i will continue but another part is saying that i should give it less time now. I know, i shouldnt remind people about some bad decisions the devs did sometime.
Like, where is Oshyrr that we were promised a year ago?
They could have more things at the vendors in the sanctuary. The burlap camo is fun and its nice to have to diversify the colors but... Its been quite a while that they havent added another one now... And, personnally, my A7 are just getting more dusts because i have nothing to spend it on.
You know what i also miss? I miss the Air anomaly. Sure, the rewards werent great and the system wasnt perfect but i enjoyed every second of big air fights (with free air vehicle) and it gave some skyguard/rangers targets to shoot at (while said vehicle were now targets by C4 or anti vehicle) while giving new players or average players free air vehicle to practice/have fun with.
So all i can say is, as long planetside 2 gives you fun, for free (if you arent a member or a spending cash on cosmetics and etc), ill say continue play. Having fun with friends or oufits is always worth it and it is never too late.
I hope they bring it to all consoles soon and make it cross platform I think it would boost the player count if that happend

For a new video topic, here's one that's been on my mind. I've been playing this game off and on since launch, almost a decade now, and recently I've been having the problem that my irl schedule makes it difficult for me to get online for my outfit's weekly Ops Nights. So my question is if you have any tips for how someone like me can find ways to feel productive in game if I can only play during off-hours. I'm an above average skill level FPS player, statistically. Hardly an elite, but good enough to get by. If that helps.
This would be an interesting discussion in a video. I found myself in a similar situation; for me personally what I find satisfying is deploying or busting spawn logistics as a meaningful high impact gameplay style. Especially when population is low, if you show up to a base with a sunderer and a router you can single-handedly turn the tide and that feels amazing. Sometimes all I do is hunt enemy sunderers, or destroy routers as a deep operative stalker cloak infiltrator.

I have one person I play with regularly still; the rest of our Outfits dissolved years ago. Quite often, a couple nerds in AP Lightnings can change the tide of battle. We go around sundy busting and counter-attacking much larger armor columns at range. When Im alone, I often take a scout radar kobalt ANT to defend a sunderer or just HESH proxy radar. Other times I use AP if its one of those small battles where one enemy Lightning can wreck the fight, AP it is. I also plop routers down in good places. Lots of things a lone player can do; even just as infantry. Notice no recon darts? Infiltrator it is. Everyone dying and no heals? Medic it is. Etc etc.
i never run with large outfits and rarely join a platoon unless im really bored, i suggest learning how the battles flow and taking the intiative to pull a tank when the enemy spawn needs to be destroyed, or a sundee when your team is pushing forward to get the next base so. The exp and cert gain for these task are massive and provide an impactful experience. Try to pick the smaller fights and make it you mission to capture the next base, dont get cought up on killing the enemy, thats not how you win and when you are with players who also arent on a dedicated team make sure to communicate with them via /re to make callouts, this will launch a faction wide message to anyone at the same base/fight as you weather youre in a platoon with them or not

We need a community feature for major outfits on each faction! I'll try to sow seeds and get the project started. The outfits are such a huge part of the content, changes so much about how the game plays. Picking the right outfit can make or break the experience, and each outfit has different advantages for each player. Big deal
I played this a ton in 2013-2015, I'm re-downloading it because I can't believe my high school game is still going strong.
I wouldn't call the liberator a bomber. It's more of a gunship, akin to an ac-130. Otherwise 11/10 video.
I'd love to see a modern boots on the ground version of the planetside formula.
2.5k hours in the game and im finaly got my kd to 2.3, as a new player i was too obssessed with learning to fly the ESF, building ANT bases, farming the campaigns, upgrading my sunderer perks, testing different weapons, and when i was finnaly infantry i would go in solo with no team and try to win thinking my 3.9 warzone KD meant anything. But this is not your typical FPS. In order to be succesfful the first thing you should do is go to the menu, join the largest outfit you can find, then join the largest platoon you can find. Their commanders should lead you to where the best fights are, with medics tanks airsupport and engineer/max teams that are on your side so you arent stuck in the spawn room getting blown up by the enemy. Also another tip, the starting weapons are some of the best weapons dont waste your currency on an expensive gun that is balanced to be equal or worse, buy anything other than weapons. Also dont be scared to test the water with the 3 different factions (dont play he NSO robot faction, its tuned towards veterans). Even at 2.5k hours i still cant pick which one is my favorite.
I remember back in 2016 when I just joined I had like 0.3 kd per session with almost no battle influence and today I'm able to hold a point for full 2 minutes on matterson's triumph againt a full squad as a heavy or an obelisk infiltrator, headshots are really magic in this game
As a small update there is a new continent called Oshur! It is a tropical island continent that is focused on construction and air transport.

If there's one tip I can think of for Planetside players new or old of all calibers, all ages, all skill levels... It's this:
Have a meal before you play. Big, small, whatever, it doesn't matter; get some calories in you before you play. I find it helps curb the rage that can very easily happen to anyone.

I play PS2 from time to time, often with month-long breaks (I generally don’t play much). I must say, every time, when I try new shooter, I find myself back on Auraxis 😊 - although, as I said, I play rarely, I never uninstalled PS2. There is no other game like this one.

it's the biggest shooter around it's worth playing working with a group is so fun when you get a good flank off with your squad or roll up in a dozen tanks or drive into a base with a sunderer full of maxes or being a gunner in the ship seeing dozens of enemy aircraft coming to take it out i hope this game gets popular it's underrated as hell

I play on PS4 pro on and off over the years. There's nothing else like this gem anywhere on the market, and I love it. I think the problem is , when I try to get friends to play it, they think it's old and ugly, and they're 100% right. It turns them off immediately. You have to know what this game is capable of to overlook it's age and performance
I wanted to play this back when it came out, the biggest draw for me was the fps and scale of the multiplayer. Probably won't happen, but it would be awesome to have this game on new consoles like the series x and ps5.
I think this game runs at native 4k 60 fps on next gen consoles. Also a statement from the dev Working on next gen updates... Or better yet I hope they just make planetside 3 soon
If you ever worried about catch up, pick VS, we have the best LMG in the game for free, weapons are easy to contorl. Most important, we don't make you follow tyranny or misguided freedom.

Is planetside 2 balanced? No!
Are factions balanced? No!
Is it just other game with textures and skins? Hell No!
It is unique game, not just new reskinned cashgrab like call of duty or Battlefield.
It is very hard for new players. Most of the games that require skill are slowly dying or not receiving many players, i get it. It is easier to uninstall a game than learn it. Fine, search for something easy.
For those who love challenge, unique game styles, join PlanetSide 2. Do not worry about picking other faction than we are, you can add ''enemies'' to friend list and chat. :))

Best free game you'll ever play..just grind till at least rank 30ish..and youll get the hype. expect to die alot at first, then youll wake up one day and realize your surviving alot longer ;) skill kicks in & FUN.
Me and my friends always get back to this game no matter how many months we took a break from it but we always keep up with it. Its uniqueness wont let the game die

I first discovered Planetside via my cousin, who got it himself way back, I don't remember the exact year. I picked it up myself in August of 2020, and I had some enjoyable moments. It kinda reminded me of Battlefield 1942, the first online game I ever played. The whole open-world PvP feel was very similar. Now, many months and many, many games later, I wonder if it will be a good use of PC space.
Eh, why not. I have over a terabyte of space at the moment. 15ish gB isn't gonna hurt it too bad.
Yes it is worth it. There is nothing like it. It is by no means easy to get into but it is an experience like no other game.

Just joined this year, first time playing. And i love it.
I don't know exactly why, but I logged in in Jan2021 after nearly 7 years (haven't played too much back in 2014 but I made it to BR38 then) - and though I didn't play too much last January, I really got stuck playing it since November'21, when I wanted to test the performance on my new PC build.
Now I play fairly regulary at the moment (pretty often would be more accurate, BR84 on my new Character), play with an outfit and after several weeks of main-Infil-stalking, I now discovered the love of the ambush-deimos-LA-load out :D
Can't say how long this phase will be, but at the moment it's just the game to play for me (I even paid them for some cosmetics - dat sky whale is just majestic and I hope they fix the underwater handling on Oshur, so I can be an majestic nautical whale aswell) and I never came across any game like it

PS2 is a gem. People complain about silly stuff but they forget the game is FREE! I love this game
I will try it out again to the contrary I havent had a bad kd ratio but there is so much to do and customize its not easy to reccomend as pickup and play...Most MMOs have systems when player is slowly digesting content and offers in PS2 they barf everything at you which is quite a problem. Back in the day I liked how easy to digest it was when there werent so much of it.
Is nso all robots or can you play as a human in that faction?
The Robots fight on one of the three pre existing human factions as allies. Every one of the 3 human factions will have a certain amount of robot soldiers fighting with them at any given time; but ultimately the war is still a 3 way. The Robot NS faction does not take territory or bases themselves.

Arena/3 could of been great if they werent trying to hop on the Battle Royale Trend, as I dont think people that wanted to play a planetside game were looking for a battle royale experience. i think were really seeing a resurgance of people that like games other than Battle Royale. Were starting too see that too with Halo Infinite and BF2042 not launching with a Battle Royale Game mode. Back to planetside though I suspect part of the reason that it has sustained itself as long as it has been that progress in it sticks year after year, and that the sandbox is absolutley massive. I do think that the game could be more clear as to the idea thats its basically bigger Domination game mode where the domination games happen at bases along the lattice. Essentially control the points at the bases to win the "Battle"

-Join open continent.
-Join big squad or platoon.
-Go where platoon is.
-Enjoy, do what you want, the sandbox is yours, unless you're in SNGE, then you do what you're told and you NEVER play infiltrator.

Hehe I"m a vet of this game. Now I wanna get back into it since the past 4 years; a LOT has changed! I just recently got back to Guild Wars 2 just this year after 8 years and man... A LOT HAS ALSO CHANGED!! LOL I also just purchased Battlefield 2042 and I'm so happy that they are doing the sandbox thing too. Unfortunately all these critics are giving it a bad score and I think most likely never played Planetside 2. These are the players that just play wayyyy too much COD. The whole idea of the battle royale are not my cup of tea and I'm sure I would love Battlefield 2042.
Did they fix the issue with cluster stops of flow where you are stuck for 10-20 minutes everytime a conquest starts?
If this issue gets somehow fixed then there is truly nothing to get even close to the Planetside 2 experience out there!
Daybreak does not care about this game the way we hope they do. Profit is number one, always. They don't seem to take action against the most blatant cheating because those cheaters are obviously spending tons of money ( always full gaudy cosmetic outfit and a rainbow flag or some shit, notice? ), bugs that are years old are still present, item shop stuff is greedily hilariously overpriced, they can't even seem to figure out having us face the correct way when we spawn in a spawn tube! They don't care. Milk the game for all it's worth but put zero effort into it. Too bad, because the game is fun and unique. Trash customer support, they have you running in circles. Look at all these paid shills "McLovin' it!!" in the comments. My advice to new players or those returning, play it for free, because that is what it's worth at this point. They've made their money and now it's just low effort tweaks to string you along. For context, I played PS1 starting in beta, and did PS2 beta as well. I'm old, and I guess fed up.
there's so many continents, yet everytime I have some time to play, it's Koltyr and this is my main issue with the game. Though I still login sometimes, being limited to Koltyr gets old. Also the "missions" are practically useless, I have never been as distracted from playing the game as when I had a random mission to complete. Why would I want to go out of my way and play an infiltrator to go and hack a station? And that's not even all of my complaints about missions.
what region do you live in,a nd what regiondo you play in?
koltyr is only open during "off" hours (typically around the opposite of "prime time" which is usually between 5pm-11pm in every region's time zone. typically a main continent is open from about 2am to 2pm depending on the server.
@@avaliantsoul5408 rather than playing in the prime time of my region, I can usually play during the morning hours, which is almost always the server's down times, with maybe a hundred or so people tops. And that's not even the biggest problem, because if the "missions" weren't so much of a mess, requiring you to get 20 kills as a class you are not good with, maybe instead make it a large pool of "get 50 kills during your session", it would be much easier to manage. Most of my time is spent peeking out of a corner in Koltyr and getting shot and owned most of the time anyway.
Recently most of my cert earnings have been from popping down a sunderer somewhere and trying to work with a random group, or playing heavy in close quarters, which again, I couldn't complete the mission of because there weren't enough vehicle spawns anywhere.
@@colourbloo I feel you. I used to be super active during prime time, but I took a nightshift job so now I mostly play in the morning as well.
its a shame PS2 doesn't have more players, as that would really ease the pain of not having enough pop for even koltyr (I've had some great times there, but Emerald often has almost 150-200 players on koltyr when I play)
unfortunately, the game is really meant to be played during prime time with its current active playercount, so there's not much the devs can do. the mission structure makes sense during prime time, but It definitely has issues when its koltyr.
i wouldn't mind if the devs too the time to make Koltyr-only missions that are more generic so that they can be completed on koltyr, because getting those hacks as an infil is seriously painful, and sometimes downright impossible.
I love playing on Koltry. So much shenanigans you can do there...and no Libs or MBTs to come wreck your Lightning if you want tanking.
I started to play a month ago, and for a couple of weeks i was obssesed, even i spent some money to buy a cool armor. But now i dont play it anymore. What that fast come, fast gone.
I still have it installed and i play very sporadically.
this is a wonderful game, but you have to have a lot of free time at first, to learn the game. But once you reach something like BR50+ you can jump in for a quick 15~30min session, get your dose of fun and go back to life, because you know what to do, you know how to get fun. You don't have to commit like you would be playing CSGO competitive or something. Me, however, after 2k+ hours I don't find this game fun any more. It was fun back in the day, when it was broken and unbalanced. But balance after balance, nerf after nerf I left the game. And devs are very lazy in terms of a map design, map/base design is still stuck in an early 2000's.. They also downgraded the graphics of the game while optimizing and the game just doesn't feel the same any more. It looks dull.
You are wonderful content creator, I wish you would move on into the games like Battlefield.
