Brandon at IW or anyone. I have a friend who is a beginner first time skater. They did the 3D Bauer scan and it was stated a Vapor skate was the best fit for her. She wasn’t aware this skate fits more like a supreme as has been mentioned here. Was it a bad buy then due to it being a supreme fit, rather than a Vapor? She did have to get the skate punched out around the ankles for better comfort.
Hey David! The Vapor skate line actually has even less volume in the heel and ankle compared to the NSX skates. So she probably would have had even more compression around the ankle. As long as the skate is comfortable and the foot remains locked in the heel so there isn't any movement, then you've got a good buy! Brandon IW Hockey
I’ve got these and they fit pretty well but I need to upgrade to one of Bauer’s main lines. Would I go for vapour or supreme based on the fit style of these skates? Thanks
These are absolutely ideal for someone just starting to play hockey! The reason being they have a supportive yet comfortable foot that is ideal for the beginner. Plus, they are at a great price! Brandon at IW Hockey
These Bauer NSX skates are a really good starting skate! If you want to seek more performance, the Bauer Supreme S25's are the way to go. Brandon IW Hockey
£120 is a good budget for just starting ice skating. I would recommend something like the Bauer vapor x350 or x400, or Bauer nsx, but when he actually starts playing hockey, you would want to get him a much better skate, which is usually at least £250, because more expensive skates are typically stiffer, and respond far better to to feet, and have significantly better acceleration. But for just learning how to skate, something like the Bauer nsx is totally fine.
Red!? Thats blood orange!! Anyways I just ordered this pair from your site along with some other items. You guys are awesome. 2 day shipping was cheap and I got free stickers!! Whoopie!
yes i have these skates and I have flat feet as well. Fits well with minimal discomfort. Apparently they can also be heat molded so ask the shop when you buy them!
Biggest difference by far is the support of the quarter package. A higher end skate has a much stiffer boot which allows the skater to perform high end and technical skating strides. These quarter packages are also heat moldable, which allows the boot to form around the natural shape of the foot, providing a custom like fit. Lot's of other differences too, but those would be the biggest difference. Brandon at IW Hockey
I can't decide which are better these or CCM Tacks 9040 I have no clue.. I come from wearing bauer figure skates, but every time I wear them they hurt? but I wanna try hockey skates.. if I decide to get CCM would they do the same or are bauer hockey skate different? Which do you reccomend?
The CCM Tacks 9040 and Bauer NSX skates have a similar type of fit for the foot. Go with the Bauer NSX as they have better ankle padding. Be sure to size your foot correctly as hockey skates generally size 1.5 sizes down from your shoe size. We have a sizing chart and even a learning center link on our product page! Brandon IW Hockey
Most hockey skates do come un-sharpened like these NSX, which is why we encourage IW shoppers to use our sharpening service at check-out so they are delivered skate-ready! Chase at IW Hockey

Would you recommend the Bauer nsc or the Bauer s25? I’m using them for recreational use but I want my skates to last long
Im unfamiliar with hockey skates, so wondering: does this model have removable insoles?
Great question! Yes, the insoles can be removed :)

I’ve got these and they fit pretty well but I need to upgrade to one of Bauer’s main lines. Would I go for vapour or supreme based on the fit style of these skates? Thanks
Hey Joe
The Bauer Supreme Line would be your best choice for the same fit!

You could also try ccm skates, like something from the ccm jetspeed line, or the ccm super tacks line.
