    Hey Coach Jeremy, I just bought my first pair of skates for the first time since high school and I just got them baked today and sharpened. I want to thank you for your channel and sharing your knowledge and passion for the game which allowed me to repursue my passion from half a lifetime ago. I'm currently in the process of losing weight so I can get fit and join an adult league next year. I appreciate all your videos and advice. Cheers!

    Bought Bauer Supreme NS 2018. I didn’t bake them, but I moulded them by using a hairdryer to push down on the lace treads. Tied them as tight as possible, waited for a bit, blew them again, tightened the laces. They fit perfectly.

      It's pretty easy
      Step 1: Start youtube channel and create the best hockey videos you can
      Step 2: Also start Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat and Instagram accounts and add the best hockey content you can to those too
      Step 3: Keep on adding content and growing these accounts for 6 years
      Step 4: Spend almost all of your time coaching hockey, teaching hockey, playing hockey, shooting hockey videos, editing hockey videos, analyzing hockey videos, or working on a hockey website
      Step 5: Receive skates

      The Singh if you're gonna go to a store and buy off the shelf then you'll be paying the thousand bucks but if you really want to find a deal you can. I go on forums and hooked up with a guy who could get any pair you wanted (100% legally) for $550 so I got the 1S brand new in the box and with all the warranty. Also it's good to have connections with reps, I got 3 brand new CCM Super Tacks sticks for just a little over the price of one on the shelf. Most people don't wanna be bothered looking for better deals and just walk in to a shop and buy retail but if you look in the pro stock communities online you will always be able to get the top end gear for way less.
      Or you could also follow Jeremy's steps, in 6 years the new Supremes might come equipped with rockets on them lol

    After playing semi-pro and retiring 20 years ago I am getting back into skating since my son has started hockey. I just got the Bauer 2S...for $699. I Had them baked once and just a normal sharpening. I was going to profile them to try and match my old skate blades but decided not to after skating a couple of times. They came from the factory as a '9' so profiling wasn't necessary for me...They feel like I'm wearing sneakers. No pain at all. Great skate...

    i Just started skating and picked up a set of Bauer"s from a box store. I have a fairly good background in mechanics and general ability to hack and experiment until I find what works. The skates were not very pliable and I could tell they were not allowing for the best support. So I used a heat gun to soften them up and laced them tight. This helped out quite a bit. A poor man's oven. I just stumbled on this video and see I wasn't to far off from the oven technique. My other thought was, why in the world we are still using laces on skates instead of a more secure clamp style system such as what's found on ski boots.

    Just got some CCM 6092 Tacks. After heat molding them I was amazed at how the top few eyelets wrapped to the top of my ankle or lower shin.
    I wore them sitting in the recliner for a while before wearing them on the ice. After 4 skates they were totally broken in.
    Changing from a skate that is 8yrs old I was amazed at how light they are, how well they heat molded, and how much effortless the stride is.

    • @nalsra0
      @nalsra0 7 років тому

      hoctorthepipedoctor I'm using $50 skates right now I've been wearing for 3 years. Does the stride noticeably differ from your old skates?

    • @hoctorthepipedoctor8445
      @hoctorthepipedoctor8445 7 років тому

      If your old skates don't have the +4.0 holder yes the stride will be considerably different. It took me about two pickup games to get used to the extra height of the holder. You have to readjust your foot placement to account for it. Once you figure it out though it makes the strides more effortless and turns much tighter.

    We walk,run,skate heel to toe. ball and socket and hinge joints. the profile must match the circumference of the individual player. The skate will support the arch and compression of the foot so profiling to circumference will optimize the body's rotation.

    Grrr!! Just got some really nice True cat7's today. I was not told to sit still. I stood up and did some minimal feeling around / flexing after having the hot skates heelbone tied. Hope I didn't hurt anything. The comfort and support of the different True skates felt head and shoulders above the rest of the $500-$1100 skates I tried. I can't believe the most comfortable thing I've ever put on my foot is a freaking hockey skate.

    You really want to bake your skates one at a time. If you bake two together, one boot will be cooling down while you lacing the first one.

  • @getoutdoors2693
    @getoutdoors2693 4 роки тому +1

    Quick update , most sites want a maximum of 2 min at max temp of 220 so if the oven was cold it usually takes 2 min maybe 3 to come to temp. Best way to be accurate is preheat oven for 3 min and then bake one skate at a time for 2 min giving u time to put your skate on and lace up while it’s hot and most moldable. Then do the same for the second skate

    • @tiloalo
      @tiloalo Рік тому

      You exactly don't want to preheat the oven but the shoes to get up to temperature slowly to avoid deformation.

    Heat of your foot will mold them over time. Same thing with ski and snowboard boots. Always good to try them out before baking them. Skate 5-7 times hard in a skate they’re good to go. Too much overthinking these situations these days. I used to wear a skate 2 sizes to big for me and played better than someone with a $900 skate that’s “personalized” for them. You think Gretzky molded his skates?

    • @CoachJeremy

      I think they have a foam rather than a gel so you won't get as much benefit out of baking them, but they are still heat moldable so it wouldn't hurt.

      Coach Jeremy I bought a inline Roselle skate but I change the wheels to a blade. And today was the first time of me giving it a spin. And the blade was so sharp I can't really do plow stop or hockey stop like how I did with rental skates. And after 1 hour of skating, my legs got tired and my feet was in pain. Which was unusual, usually I would skate at least 4 hours or so with the rental skates then I feel the pain. But this time was different..

    I learned awhile back to stand after lacing up. This allows your standing foot profile to mold the boot. The shape of a foot seated vs. standing is different due to the pressure difference.

    • @xXBeastinGringoXx
      @xXBeastinGringoXx Рік тому

      This sounds like a good idea, but don’t do this, after you bake skates the foot bed plastic becomes soft. Standing up in the skate will cause the footbed to warp you will also stress the materials and deform the skate.

    • @iorimoe_five
      @iorimoe_five 11 місяців тому

      @@xXBeastinGringoXxWell, it’s not recommended to do it in most case but I still did it to mine yesterday and they are in good shape and mold to my foot no problem, it’s for me better in my case cause it’s the position the most susceptible to be and I even retried my skates 24h after I baked them (this afternoon) and it’s super close to my feet anyway. I had Super Feet in my Ribcores and those might just be a bit better for locking your heel in I think, I'm still contemplating going back to them but the Speed Plate doesn't really bother me enough. You should show in the next video the actual inside of your 1S after you mold it just to show people how the skate is completely shaped around your foot and your ankles structure inside compared to what a cheap skate does

(Just play shinny at local outdoor rink) I still experience pain in both of my feet pretty much the whole time I'm in my skates. I've had this problem my whole life, but I always had the wrong size skates, and I figured when I finally got the right size (10 EE) I figured my pain wouldn't be a problem any more. I'm very disappointed cause they were $500 skates, got them for $250 tho during the off season. But as Im probably done growing I figured I had gotten my last pair of skates for a very long time.

I had used them twice the first day for an hour, and the second time for 90 minutes with no pain, and no pressure points. The only pain was my lower back. They fit like my downhill ski boots, snuggly tight but comfortable at the same time. This is how skates should fit. It's AI age now, not cowboys and horses...BTW, I've been painfully skating on my brick-shaped Bauer and almost quit skating bc I thought this was the suffering I must endure for this sport.

    The owner seems knowledgeable...but will have to disagree on skates feeling like "second skin" if sized properly and heat molded properly. I've had crazy foot fatigue to the point where it was unbearable with CCM skates. I wear a size 10.5 shoe and bought a 9 skate. Heard Grafs were comfortable and same story. Finally bought an older pair of Nike/Bauer One 95 with Bauer Speed Plate 2.0 and got the golden fit. I've had multiple pairs of skates but the Bauers fit me so I bought 2 pairs. Should be good for a long time now..

    What skates would you recommend for a wide footed, high arched person like myself. I only really ever go and skate with my little brother on the ice for stick+puck, open skate, etc and really don’t have the money to spend on super expensive custom skates. I have tried so many skates and they are just so tight around where the toe box and the fabric meet. They can’t be punched out in that area (or so I’ve been told) so I get a lot of discomfort even when just lacing up. I have resorted to wearing my brothers skates (like a size 9) even though I should only be an 8. So yea my arches are getting beat up and it’s painful but I don’t have the squishing pain from the tightness of a proper sized skate. Thanks for any suggestion

    300 to 400 dollar skates for kids actually very expensive and good. I got these vapor skates for 520$ but they were on sale for 400$. And my other skate was to small and i was just so used to it, i didn’t know that I needed new ones, and when I got them (and wore them ) I realized that the skate was too small it was a nexus size 1 and I was a supreme 3 but I felt better with vapor 3 so yeah

    I have a pair of 2017 model pretty similar to the most recent. After a bad concussion, the first time I hit the ice again with a newly molded $800 pair of supremes. An alert sports shop worker noticed I was wearing a size too large after all these years. I needed a wider but smaller size fit so I did just that. However, although my balance isn't quite as steady after the concussion(police officer and I got pulled under a car by a drunk and was concussed) I am having problems adjusting to the smaller skate blades. I've played hockey all my life but never had this issue before. Is it out of the question to add a longer blade to the smaller sized skates I just bought? Advice would be very much appreciated,,,,,thanks, Rob

    I bought some Bauer S160LE 2 years ago. I let them bake in the shop and they fitted like a second skin. They were so comfortable. Last year I only skated twice. This year I use them very often - but I have so much pain. Is it possible that they have lost their shape? Is it possible to bake them a second time or will it harm the skate?

    Hey Jeremy ! I just received my pair of CCM Ribcor 48Ks in 9.5D. The length is perfect, but when I tie them up super tight, I've got a couple of painful pressure points halfway through the midfoot and the heel. Since the toe box and the forefoot feel super good width wise and I've got a relatively narrow foot, I didn't want to go with a EE, but I'm afraid those two pressure points could cause me discomfort in the future. Do you think baking the skates will diminish the pressure and the pain ? Since it's a brand new skate and still pretty stiff, I'm sure it should do but I'd like to be sure before I bake them, just so I can send them back in case. Your help would be greatly appreciated !

    Cool! Can't wait to see next video, because I am about to buy a new pair of skates (CCM Ribcor 48K in my mind). I tried in shop high-end skates from Bauer, they hurt out of the box. But I had a question - is it possible to punch up and mold skate to any kind of crazy foot pattern (for example I have Flatfooted feet)?
    I am already subscriber for two years now, but decided to turn on notifications to not to miss next video! :)

    Is it better to have a tight fit or loose fit before you bake. A standard width I feel pressure on ball and pinky toe. The wide width felt loose. In vapor x 600s. Would I be better buying tight or the looser. Does baking tighten the skate or loosen the skate?
