The "Double-Tap" Punch like Max Holloway
Вставка

- After you learn the basic punches, you will learn to change the tempo of your combos. Fighters like Max Halloway and Nate Diaz often use what Coach Vince refers to as "The Double-Tap" or punching with an off-beat rhythm. You will notice that this not only increases the speed of your punches, but you will land with a higher success rate, simply because the rhythm is different than your opponent's defense.

Wonderboy has a UA-cam channel. Seeing a collab between you two would be amazing
The Poltical One “Would amazing”
They recently sparred together. Hopefully we'll see the full footage
@@florianritter147 serious when was this
@@thepolticalone961 look up shane's instagram. He posted a video of it. They sparred at wonderboy's upstate karate.
@@florianritter147 alright Cheers man
Double tap is also the technique to make sure zombies don't get back up

The One Black Ops Zombie ;)
@@bodyshootsmaster8888 that's fucking story my man😭😍
I thought that’s when you fuck the same girl twice?
korean zombie aint gettin up
Saw this video about an hour and a half before my Muay Thai training and we happened to be sparring at the end of class. I’m probably on my second round and boom all of a sudden this video popped into my head and I decided to try it out. Not only did I land the combo probably 70% of the time but it was quicker than any jab my sparring partner could throw any it also set up a regular jab cross since he was looking for the quick one. Thanks Shane and Vince. #underdogs
That's what we like to hear! Good stuff, Andrew!
Thank you Shane. I started watching your videos 5 or 6 years ago when I was in high school. I used to get picked on and wanted to learn how to defend myself. Fast forward to now I am prepping for my first IFS amateur Muay Thai fight in October in Anaheim. Definitely going to try to use this to throw off my opponents rhythm and keep him guessing. Thanks again for all you do.
Don’t let fear or difficulties stop you or make you quit, try it, conquer it and you’ll see it’s not as scary or difficult as it looks
Could you do a video on Samart? His fighting style is so unique and the way he abuses his jabs and teeps is devastating
this reminded me of when i thought i invented a technique... i would throw a jab and while rechambering the jab as it reached the middle between the face and back to chamber... i would step in further and throw the jab or this double tap that you are describing... this allowed me to throw either 2 jabs of more or less the same power(because the first one is a full jab without stepping too much and the second is with a dropstep but not from full chamber) or 3 rapid fire punches that ended in one of my main shots(i didnt have much time practicing boxing, only about a month) then i realised that the combination was in many boxing fights i had watch before... so, i didnt invent anything... but at least i had learnt a good combo
I noticed that he was doing something like that but didn't know what, great explanation
What about videos on inside fighting? Like Henry Armstrong, or how James Toney fought on the inside
Check out Leewylie. Great, great channel that covers everything boxing related, including a cool one on Armstrong
When I first started training this was a habit of mine due to me not fully retracting my jab and just trying to get the cross off, good to change up the pace of a counter attack
2:50 that's why marquez Lopez and even de la hoya practiced with the lead hand out front. I call it "wondering fist" aka "Mexican style"
Can you make a video about improving punching power without equipment?
use the hips!!! you can see how I use my hips in my boxing fights
@@lilgara3813 i'll make sure to check them out!
Are you a fan of vasyl lomachenko
@@danlydejesusduvergebeato5523 yes i am he's really cool
There isn’t much you can do without at least weights or something heavy or resistance bands
Can you make a video on Dustin’s striking next?
👋
nothing complicated. he does use different setups and variations of his punches but hte power he gets is from turning his entire body.
He keeps his hands up.He fires a strong as jab, down the middle line, whilst covering up his own centre line.Watch how many times Max Holloway tries to do his usual swarming attacks, and Dustin stops him dead in his tracks, with a solid as jab.Controlling the centre line,is everything.
Great video as always! Shane's points were also very accurate 👍
Wow, awesome technique, thanks!
Shane I am facing problems in spinning hook kick some people do it with their foot straight and some with like side kick . Make a video on spinning hook kick mistakes and how to do it perfectly in fight
Make a video on takedown defense pleeeeease
I think it works so well for max because he’s such a master of manipulating range
This is an amazing service you're providing these kids who simply want to defend themselves from bullies. Kudos to you! I would give these kids instructions though. You should make a video series. I can help you do that.
Being a drummer helps me understand this. Regular 1,2= single strokes Double tap- flams
Also flam taps, flam paradiddles and ratamacue 🙆
How about ruffs? That would be awesome! 😄🐕
Throw in some cheese patiflaflas too 😂
I think this is something Nate Diaz does with his looping cross after a jab
Shane looks like Gunnar Nelson
Old GGG is very good at changing the speed and timing on his punches
For distance my new coach is saying you should be at the range where you stick your arm straight out but not roll your shoulder unless throwing a punch and your knuckles should be right behind their ear for the perfect distance... Do you have any preference on where your fist should reach for distance?
Loving the tips... 👍🏽💯🥊🥊
Beautiful video! Thank you for the pro tip
The hybrid gloves are available on his website
Also love these videos they really help me with training MMA
Great move. I used this so much in sparring.
You should do the Unbreakable Box Challenge!
i love this channel man...
Nice, you can disquise the rear kick too
Love this channel
This is a good one.
To me the best way to make your opponent get confused is to faint in a way that looks like the normal moves you make then suddenly you explode and punch them in their face.
I like the moves
What’s up Shane? What are your thoughts on striking the makiwara boards? Please let me know.
Shane, what about a video on rythym? Why should we fight with a rythym and not without? And how to think about it. Great work.
Matheus Henrique Arantes Pereira Never wanna be flat footed and it helps with shifting power into punches
@@cleanjoey7120 and how do you time an opponent's ryhthym? Do you look at his feet and play "drums" in your head that match that rythym?
is this also good to incorporate for boxing?
its universally applicable in my experience. emmanuel burton used this sort of thing alot and alot of high level boxers do it alot these days
i would. could be used to pull one guard down with the jab. right hand is protecting? use the jab to pull the right hand away and then land your right hand down the pipe
The timing behind this move is similar to the 1-1-2 combo where the 1-2 is thrown in the same amount of time as the initial 1
satanic cyanide69 with big gloves nope
A good fighter would see your arms starting to extend. He would then start throwing leads to your body because your elbows aren't in and your body is open.Extremely dangerous having arms extended, because you start to expose your chin. There's easier ways of breaking the rhythm, once you've established the rhythm.Firing on the half beat is the best way,if you've established a one beat rhythm or cadence.A stop hit.Bruce Lee talks about in depth in his book"The Tao Of Jeet Kune Do".The best instructional book,on the science of fighting. What you're talking about, will only work on fighters whose boxing technique, isn't strong.Max couldn't use it against Poirier.
@@robostovich The best mma fighters,at the highest level, realise how important boxing technique is.Listen to Tony Ferguson talk about his boxing. This guy uses Max Holloway as an example. But Max couldn't use this effectively against Poirier, because Poirier has extremely good boxing technique, understands the science of centre lines etc.Yes your right, for the average mma fighter, this will work.

Here's a off topic question for you Shane if someone is looking to get into a boxing gym how long does a typical training boxing session last an hour or two hours
Yeah you got it should be more than 2 for a casual session
Holloway - Hands down. leans his Head Forward. and stands with his Shoulders relatively squared. Carries alot of weight on his Front Leg. ;)
Nick Pierce does a good job at countering the leg kick though. Look back to the Aldo fight. When Aldo would land the rear leg kick Max would lean into it and attack with a 2 or a 1. That stopped Aldo from throwing the leg kick even though he was having success.
@@PJ16G Max is very Fast and Accurate. But there is more than one type of leg kick :)
Nick Pierce Yeah, there is like you can do cut kicks, calf kicks, chopping kicks, oblique and so on. Max also constantly switches his stance with shifts and just flowing . People just haven’t been able to stick to the low kicks on him for a reason. He sits down on the leg kicks and throws a 1 or 2 as the opponent is landing with the leg kick and that shuts down that game. Unless they are willing to trade. You don’t think any coaches that have prepped their fighters for max have realized that he gets heavy on that front leg? Or do you think you’re the first to create that game plan to beat max? Creating a game plan on paper is one thing but actually executing is a whole other thing.
Max doesn't carry a lot of weight on his lead leg. He is good at checking and anticipating strikes. He also leans his head forward to manipulate distance. He knows where his shots are, but misleads his opponents distance. Also Max is typically square, but still has great takedown defense and is aware enough to avoid kicks. These aren't Max's weaknesses and any Featherweight who is waiting for Holloway already knows this stuff.
MVP MVP I would say his shoulders are square but not necessarily his stance. Yeah his distance control and manipulation is amazing. His stance switching also contributes to it.
so ive been training muay thai for a while now, i'm planning to do taekwondo.... is tkd good??/
DK Yoo actually promotes this technique but he also got some tricks to keep the strike powerful as well.
Hey shane big fan
I used this 1-2 while I’m using long guard in Muay Thai
I think getting back to mostly street fighting videos will bring the viewers back it saddens me to see this channel decrease in popularity
Is it decreasing in popularity?
It is sadly the older videos about street fighting got millions of views
