For anyone confused about Verbal Dueling, it's a deck builder. Each turn you add one card to your deck from the ones you're shown. The game then deals 9 random cards from your deck into a square, adds up their eloquence (basically verbal damage), and thats dealt to your opponent. They are also doing this to you, you just don't get to see it, resulting in a tug of war which is shown at the top of the screen. The verbal attacks you get given can also have special effects. Some of them eat other cards to empower themselves, some of them get stronger if they're near specific cards, some of them do more complicated stuff. It looked like random nonsense to begin with but there's actually quite a bit of strategy in it.
sum it well. It's all about building and manipulating your deck. Too bad, as far I know, you can't build your global card deck or influence other cards.
I randomly get nonsense despite never picking it up and I always, and I mean always lose after the first half of the battle with the enemy suddenly getting mad multipliers, why is that?
@@pacifica2391 Perhaps because you fight people too strong for you ? You need to challenge people of your level, avoid anyone with 400 spirit until you've progressed. You start with a random selection of card in your hand, and some cards can spawn new ones, or remove cards from your hand. You can manually remove cards from your hand, but it's limited (click on the card deck on bottom left of the screen).
It's one of those Dunning-Krueger curves. First, you discover wuxia and it absolutely sucks you in, because it's so unique and strange and has unfamiliar aesthetics and plots, and your opinion on the genre skyrockets. Then you keep devouring more wuxia stories, until you start realizing that it's one of the most stale and oversaturated genres out there, no better than "slow life isekai" or "Korean urban LitRPG fantasy", and it just felt fresh because you were new to it. Your opinion on the genre plummets, but then after a while you come back to it and start being a bit more critical with your choices, avoiding the comedic rubbish and the dime-a-dozen thrash-tier revenge stories, and you soon realize that the genre has a lot to offer after all, settling somewhere in the middle.
@@kyrax9462 A lot of people love Er Gen novels but I find them to be creative but poorly written. based on your tolerance to poor writing, hes worth a read. One of my current favorites is called Star Odyssey, which is really fun if you like to guess based on author clues as to whats coming up. While its set in space, the author either doesn't understand space or doesn't care. it basically takes place on land themed as space. Reverend Insanity is great if your willing to read through its 1 boring arch (Zombies) otherwise you can pretty easily skip it without much issue. This one is great if you want a "evil" MC. Hes not so much evil, but rather willing to do whatever it takes to achieve his goals. This one starts kinda whatever but gets amazing. The only downfall is it was banned in china so currently does not have an ending. The author states he will eventually finish it but is working on another project currently that I find rather dull (infinite bloodcore.) A more recent one I've been reading is called Dao of the Bizarre Immortal. Its almost not wuxia. It has a lot of grotesque and almost horror elements. It follows an mc who has delusions and you can never really be certain what is real. Translation is still fresh so it could go down hill, but I'm enjoying it. Another newer one, Unsheathed has been a great read, but its HARD. The author started it in such a way that feels almost like you were the one who transmigrated into the world. But the man can worldbuild like no other. the more you pay attention, the more the text rewards you. If your down for generic First Immortal of the Sword executes it in a way that feels good, even when you know the tropes. Its not amazing by any means, but if you just want a wuxia, its pretty easy reading and plenty of fun. Haven't read this one in a while so it may have fell off, but i enjoyed the 700ish chapters i did read. Will probably catch up at some point. Finally, the most recently introduced translation ive been reading is Yuan's Ascension. Its a mild spin on the genre that feels fresh in a world full of generic filler. Hopefully it continues, as only 50 chapters are officially translated so far. I usually read on Wuxiaworld, but qidian also has some good stuff. Edit: Honorary mention from the korean side of things. On of my favorite novels ever written is also on wuxiaworld called Second Coming of Gluttony. I won't go on too much about it, but its one of the few novels I've actually purchased AFTER fully reading it. I really liked it.
@@kyrax9462 There are a lot of old classic novels, but lately I mostly recommend the manhuas/webtoons, as they can often make the experience even better through their artwork, and tend to trim a lot of the fat to make the pacing better. Off the top of my head: Volcanic Age: One of the more popular series, heroic wuxia mixed with some second chance reincarnation tropes. MC is an elder in one of the big sects who survives the big war common in these stories, and dies of old age, full of regrets, but then reawakens as a child in the past, and so using his knowledge, he sets out to change the future. Fairly standard stuff, decent art, and generally enjoyable, if a little meandering in the later chapters. Return of the Mount Hua Sect: Similar to the previous one; MC is an expert of a huge sect who dies defeating the big bad of the setting. He reincarnates a century later as a child, but by then, the sect fell to ruins, so using his knowledge of their original martial arts and by whipping the sect members into shape, he set out to recover their lost legacy. Mainly comedic series, stemming from the MC's personality, but has some of the greatest action artwork out there, and a generally enjoyable series. Legend of the Northern Blade: A revenge story about an MC whose family was betrayed by a group of martial masters, and after training for a decade, he returns to settle the score. It has a slightly cartoony but at the same time extremely striking art style, and it avoids the usual issue of revenge stories by pacing things out and focusing on building an ensemble cast around the MC. Legends of the Swordsman Scholar/Tale of the Scribe who Retires to the Countryside: Two very similar works by the same author. Both MCs are scholars who get caught up in the world of martial arts, and through their intuition and talent, end up becoming OP monsters without initially understanding it. LSS is more focused on politics, and the plot is moved by the various factions scheming and the MC catching their eyes, while TSRC is more slow-life, where the plot is driven by the MC's ever-growing family (read: tagalongs + harem) and their backgrounds. Not my favs, but they provide a different perspective on the usual wuxia setting. Chronicles of the Heavenly Demon: A solid starting point for the "Demonic Cult Reincarnation" genre, where someone from the "righteous" faction gets reincarnated into the usual villain faction, and we get to see it from the inside, from their perspective. Okay artwork, good character work, and while it's technically a revenge story, it doesn't cause a revenge-pileup, nor does it become a plot-tumor, so it's fine. Return of the Crazy Demon: Another second chance story, but this time a "ground level" wuxia, focusing on the unorthodox factions and common folk instead of sects and cults and wars. It's also a comedic series, due to the OP protagonist with a devil-may-care attitude. It also has great artwork. Doctor's Rebirth: This one's a transmigration story, where a modern doctor gets reborn into a wuxia setting, and merges magical martial arts techniques and modern medical practices to save lives. It's another one that gives a different perspective on the setting, focusing on the "miracle doctors" that usually only show up as support cast in other stories and their clinics instead of non-stop martial arts action. It also has decent art, and a memorable cast. I could list more, but really, a lot of them are just variations of the same core story archetypes, with a few unique spins here and there.
"...the guards of the big inner must ride it to the law to use the wind..." I guess we could call that "esoteric". I would have said "the inane ramblings of a child on mescaline", but to each their own.
For anyone looking for more of a Wuxia fix, Wandering Sword is a pretty good TRPG that I'm sure Seth will eventually review. It's right up his alley given that you spend much of the early game gifting strange objects to kids, their parents, and the elderly, then beating the shit out of them in sparring to take all their items (and you want their items) while getting stronger from unleashing your very deadly five point exploding on an old man who just wants to drink some tea and chill by the river. But there is no chill, and everything and everyone can likely kill you until you, uh, definitely don't steal some secret Kung Fu manuals and certainly won't bribe wandering masters to teach you how to kill shit real good before you turn their secrets back upon them. That's the lesson this game will teach you, don't fight those boars in the forest, you will die, instead pick on the weak until you are a geared up Kung Fu god who can somehow punch in every direction simultaneously. Just a tip, real 公夫杀手 use their fists, don't be a bitch like those Wudang Femboys.
Outside the take-away, Saturday night A bald adolescent, asks me out for a fight He was no bigger than a two-penny fart He was a deft exponent of the martial art He gave me three warnings: Trod on me toes, stuck his fingers in my eyes And kicked me in the nose A rabbit punch made me eyes explode My head went dead, I fell in the road I pleaded for mercy I wriggled on the ground He kicked me in the balls And said something profound Gave my face the millimetre tread Stole me chop suey and left me for dead Through rivers of blood and splintered bones I crawled half a mile to the public telephone Pulled the corpse out the call box, held back the bile And with a broken index finger, I proceeded to dial I couldn’t get an ambulance The phone was screwed The receiver fell in half It had been kung fu’d A black belt karate cop opened up the door Demanding information about the stiff on the floor He looked like an extra from Yang Shang Po He said “What’s all this then Ah so, ah so, ah so.” He wore a bamboo mask He was gen’ned on zen He finished his devotions and he beat me up again Thanks to that embryonic Bruce Lee I’m a shadow of the person that I used to be I can’t go back to Salford The cops have got me marked Enter the Dragon Exit Johnny Clarke

The emperor's pity, from today, will enter the Lord of the Lord today, and will re-establish the order with iron and blood. Anyone who does not follow the morals of the rivers and lakes, the traitors and the fate of the grass, the guards of the big inner must ride it to the law to use the wind of Kuangwu Lin.
Qin this.
Basically kung fu kenshi huh?
The first game i've played BEFORE seth reviews I am in your head
how do you even program this many interactions
I saw another creator cover this game. It's essential Kenshi, but Kungfu. Now it's gonna blow up with Sseth's review.
My thoughts exactly.
I miss kenshi:c
It's still there
This'll tide me over til kenshi 2 finally drops in 2050
Anything kenshi related I'm willing to play
@@psionicdongpunch It's okay. It'll be done aaaaaannnnyyyy day now.
We called it purple purple.
This looks like kenshi with some extra spicy shenanigans... interesting
Dam as A person who played the match less Kung Fu if your beginner don't offend the birds
Too bad, as far I know, you can't build your global card deck or influence other cards.
emotional damage lol
yeah ok now explain saliva and why the opponent gets "1.1x" multipliers that turn their score from 50 into 150.
Props to whoever the goblin that made that steam guide is. What a legend doing the hard work for absolutely no reason or payoff
For some, the journey is the destination. I respect those folks.
@InuAres a few comments above: "wow sseth used my guide"
he's actually here in this comment section lol
Thank you Seth
May God save sseth soul from the abyssal addiction that is chinese wuxia story. I know, i had been there
It's one of those Dunning-Krueger curves.
@@Horvath_Gabor Cool, recommend me some decent ones please.
Cradle by Will Wight is pretty good
@@kyrax9462 A lot of people love Er Gen novels but I find them to be creative but poorly written. based on your tolerance to poor writing, hes worth a read.
The author states he will eventually finish it but is working on another project currently that I find rather dull (infinite bloodcore.)
A more recent one I've been reading is called Dao of the Bizarre Immortal.
Off the top of my head:
Volcanic Age: One of the more popular series, heroic wuxia mixed with some second chance reincarnation tropes.
"...the guards of the big inner must ride it to the law to use the wind..."
I guess we could call that "esoteric". I would have said "the inane ramblings of a child on mescaline", but to each their own.
🤣
Glad to see that sims 5 will take more serious approach
Even sseth can't dodge the lobotomy kaizen mems
This game looks like a fever dream. Can't wait to play it. Thanks Seth.
Kenshi Impact
Fucking sold.
I have never been more interested in a game after reading this description ...
I'd also recommend Hero's Adventure: Road to Passion. It's essentially Chinese Baldur's Gate.

Outside the take-away, Saturday night
A bald adolescent, asks me out for a fight
He was no bigger than a two-penny fart
He was a deft exponent of the martial art
He gave me three warnings:
Trod on me toes, stuck his fingers in my eyes
And kicked me in the nose
A rabbit punch made me eyes explode
My head went dead, I fell in the road
I pleaded for mercy
I wriggled on the ground
He kicked me in the balls
And said something profound
Gave my face the millimetre tread
Stole me chop suey and left me for dead
Through rivers of blood and splintered bones
I crawled half a mile to the public telephone
Pulled the corpse out the call box, held back the bile
And with a broken index finger, I proceeded to dial
I couldn’t get an ambulance
The phone was screwed
The receiver fell in half
It had been kung fu’d
A black belt karate cop opened up the door
Demanding information about the stiff on the floor
He looked like an extra from Yang Shang Po
He said “What’s all this then
Ah so, ah so, ah so.”
He wore a bamboo mask
He was gen’ned on zen
He finished his devotions and he beat me up again
Thanks to that embryonic Bruce Lee
I’m a shadow of the person that I used to be
I can’t go back to Salford
The cops have got me marked
Enter the Dragon
Exit Johnny Clarke

that moment when Sseth Enters the Kungfu Panda verse...
"You must choose the right China Man or China Woman to Chintegrate into your lineage..."
I was gonna make a Big Lebowski reference, but this is way too funny.
Chintegrate her? I hardly knew her!
Or better yet, a prequel meme
*Chineage
What does that have to do with the Big Lebowski?
Also, China man is not the preferred nomenclature. Asian American please.
This is the second video in a row where the night before I felt that it was time for a new Sseth video, and then the it happens. I don't know why this is.
