    I really enjoy this video. I’m in the south Puget Sound area just retired. I’m building a Skiff to get out on the water. Your video is very inspirational and informational.

    Did some crabbing in Port Angeles, WA last year. First time crabbing in the PNW and the crabs caught in these waters are wayyy different from the east coast blue crabs I grew up catching in the Chesapeake Bay!
    Great video!

      Awesome! Yeah, I’ve got a friend from the east coast that comes out here to crab that has said the same thing!

    Thanks, your videos are great. Only thing you might want to cover is the rot cord requirement (or maybe I missed it). Looking forward to dropping some pots for this weekend's opener in 8-1.

      Good point! Yeah, there's probably a few things like that I missed. Good luck, I will be dropping in 9 I think.

    This video was such click "bait", and I love it! I've heard of using Razor Clam and Salmon waste for bait before, as well as chicken. The main key was letting any of those choices "marinate" outside in a bucket for a few days to get things nice and funky. It's all about the "smell", but never dawned on me to try some oily Tuna scraps! Thanks for the smelly tip!

    I’m a geoduck diver and I’m mostly off seahurst tract areas, there is a ton of pots submerged and rusted down there 😔

      Yeah man, that’s a bummer. I’ve heard crazy numbers of pots are lost each year

    Enjoyed the video. Is that sounding/depth map app available on iPhone? If so, what is it called? I’d not seen an interactive sounding app for a phone before. Thanks for your time.

    Great information. I have a question, we are new to crabbing. We put a pot together and went just north of gig harbor bay placed the pot in a depth of about 110 feet. The pot went down great felt it hit the bottom however we only had a 200 foot shot of lead line at the so I threw the rest over and attached the 2 red white buoys. Looked great then we noticed they started to go down. They popped back up and then went back down and stayed down. Wife just about came unglued. So we decided to go boating around and come back in hour and look.

      After about 30 minutes of looking I could see the line coming up on the sonar and we were able to spot it just under the surface. Got our pot back and got one Hugh red rock crab. So we’re trying to figure out why our buoys went down. Did we have too much extra line out. What do you think?

    • @PNWBestLife
      @PNWBestLife  2 роки тому

      Thanks and I think I can answer your question with one word: current. If you put your pot where I think you did, there’s super heavy current right there and it’s not ideal. Thankfully you didn’t lose your pot! When it’s running that hard it will pull your float under, unless you have a super heavy float. I would crab in an area with less current, shallower, a bay or Sandy flat perhaps

      Yea maybe we’ll try north of Vashon Island or on the east side north of Maury Island. Thank you for the info.

      That’s a better area! I’m not sure there’s a place in the Puget sound then where you choose, lol

    Thanks. Very informative video. We live next to salmon bay/shilshole marina and we're headed out in area 10. How do you find good spots? Just trial and error?

      Did you watch that portion of the video related to how to find good spots? In front of river / creek mouths. Sandy flats, bays, etc
