- Inversion review. www.ClassicGame... Classic Game Room reviews INVERSION for Xbox 360 (also for PlayStation 3 PS3) from Namco Bandai. Inversion turns the world upside down!!!!! Sort of, well.... not really. It does have its moments though. Oh yes it's another desaturated third person style shooter with duck and cover elements, predictable weapons and generic music but wait, there's more! Inversion has a cool gravity effect where the ground rotates and gravity shifts but it's so rarely used that it gives players a taste of what Inversion could have been but wasn't. Sadly, it comes across as a Gears of War clone with boring dialog and a rarely used gravity gimmick. CGR Inversion video review features Inversion shooter gameplay on Xbox 360 (also for PS3). Inversion is pretty straight forward and playable if you dig duck and cover shooters but CGR says rent it first!
the video game market doesn't really like experimental games very much until there a proven success and proven success will always be duplicate

I truly loved this game upon release.
And I still do now.
The Developers (Saber Interactive) were already showing signs of their inevitable potential long before releasing World War Z. If you're a fan of niche games, this is one for the shelf.

I think this is a very under rated game. Yeah, it's very much like GoW, but honestly I find myself in a situation where I like cover based gameplay but can not stand GoW and it's retarded characers and lackluster story. So this works perfectly for me.
I am playing Inversion in PC, must say I was skeptical at first because of not so good graphics in first levels, cheesy acting and plot. But gameplay and levels became better and better further in. I'd say this is underdog of 2012
Exactly. I'd say SMG is the "ideal" example, in my opinion. You've got levels made of small, spherical areas--each of which have their own gravitational pull (and you can do some pretty cool sequence-breaking jumps due to that :P), not to mention the 2-D sections with the arrows shifting gravity up and down. It still has the core platforming gameplay style of SM64, but the gravity mechanics add to it and make it fresh and exciting. THAT'S how it's done. :D
That's the thing. For a game like this to be really successful, the whole "inversion" concept has to be a fully integrated mechanic, not just a gimmick that you can occasionally exploit every now and then. They'd have to build the game AROUND that mechanic, y'know what I mean?
That being said, I think that the whole gravity-shifting mechanic would've worked better for a platformer than a shooter. But that's just MY opinion. :)
You don't say? I'll have to look into that, then (I used to have a NES as a kid, but I didn't really get into gaming until I got my PS1).

I haven't been watching CGR taht much lately, heck, I even didn't watch a single video for some time.
I come back to watch this video and finally figure out why I subscribed to this channel in the first place. Cracks me the fuck up.
To bad this is as close as it gets to a Psi Ops sequel :(

It's good for a rental,if you like this style of gameplay.
It has its moments,but i wish they gave more emphasis on the unconventional parts like the crazy gravity sections wich are few and far between the generic ones.A missed opportunity really if you ask me.

@chaffXgrenade I agree. They should've made Gravity the weapon of the game, not guns. Using the environment to fight in a unique way by manipulating gravity and physics to bring down your enemies. I'd love to see a game where you use gravity to bring down buildings and crush enemies.

No one ripped off anyone. The joke is that a less popular reviewer will be accused of stealing a more popular reviewer when two games are reviewed, which is stupid in my opinion but some people are just stupid to begin with.
So its adumbed down version of gears. But the kicker for me is that it isn't xbox exclusive

If you ask me, I'd say it's cover-based shooters that are played out nowadays--there's only so much developers can do with this genre. Adding the gravity mechanic here just seemed like a cheap attempt to make it stand out.

If Capcom and EA are correct about dumbing down their IP's to attract a "broader" audience to gain better sales. Then games like Inversion should be selling millions.

That's the problem with these kinds of games, they might have a unique idea, but it isn't the center piece of the experience as it should be and isn't fleshed out into a bigger budget title. Instead it's like "hey lets make a Gears of War clone, everyone will buy that, but our game will have gravity physics". That's not to say these ideas probably will end up in a much better game down the road where we will have Gears meets Portal, but not any time soon.

I groan every time I see a Dynasty Warriors Gundam game. Bandai by itself made awesome Gundam games and then the companies merged and the quality went down.

inversion is an incredible world. I would definitely like to see a sequel.
if they do make a sequel however, they should make it an open world.

man the flash player encoding gives the game a different fell. just like uncharted 2 cutsences which look better and smoother than the origianl gameplay.

If you like to watch cinematics every 5 minutes then you'll love this game - the interaction is weak and there are too many quicktime interaction pieces (press space to open door, press F to climb). I've only started to play this game and I'm already getting really sick of it.

I couldn't stand Gears. Much too slow. People try to pull the "that's it's style card", but I don't like slow games so that's really a reason for someone to say my opinion is wrong.
I still prefer Vanquish. :/

Ok these days all games look alike so it isn't fair comparing games like they stole something from another game cuz all games are the same i talk about first person and third person shooters they only got different kind of weapons and different stories and yes the grapics so the story here is great this reviewer never evenn played the game with the story i guess he skipped everything out
