As to Johnathon queerying why Tandem rounds aren't always the first choice by players in Squad, you have to manually rearm your weapons (including AT ammo) using ammo points. Tandem rounds cost signficantly more of these points than regular HEAT rounds, so they're more expensive to take from FOBs (player built, resuppliable spawn points) or from riflemen (a role in game where you have an ammo bag for portable ammo points to resupply from). This means that holding on to your tandem (you get one ammo of each type) until you either really need it or can make sure you hit your target is a good idea, because it could be a while before you can resupply one. It's typical tactics in Squad to use your HEAT round to destroy/damage the engine, wheels or tracks of your target and then, once its disabled, line up the tandem round with a weakspot and destroy the vehicle.
It in fact does come down to cost and weight even in a video game lol
The flight path is even more important, the RPG has only 200 meters sight for the tandem so you'd have to guess the range above that.

I swear Johnathan loves doing this. Looks at a gun in a game and says "Hold on! I'll go grab one for you!" Hahaha.
Yeah its kinda nerd-exciting. I was super jazzed to get to shoot an HK USP and MP5 cus of video games.
Even better:
"Hold on! I'll go grab the first one ever made!"
He's a museum curator, of course he loves it. And we're here because we love that he loves it
I’d like a job like that except I get to shoot the guns.
Weird how a nerd would enjoy getting to nerd out about his favorite interest. :D
I carried the M249 SAW (the American adaptation of the Minimi) on my last deployment in 06-07. It had the solid buttstock and short barrel with a rail system where the hand guard would be. While I was in Kuwait, I went through a close quarters range. At the end of the day, the cadre did not want to turn in the extra ammo, so they asked anyone if they wanted to have some fun. I was the only one to volunteer. I do not know exactly how many rounds I fired, but I fired so much that I had at least 4 barrel changes. I fired from both belts and mags of which there was a good size pile of links, brass, drums, and mags at my feet. I did not have any malfunction of any kind. I was on the line for about 20 minutes, maybe longer. For the remainder of the deployment, I was the "heavy weapons guy". The SAW was my personal weapon, but I became responsible for our M2HB (heavy barrel) and MK19.
siiick
Smart to take that opportunity, never gonna get it again.
Please say you named your gun Sascha?
Ha, we are brothers in mind. I did the same when I was in the German army. They had 7.62 and 40 mike mike belts that had to go. No one wanted to fire them. Had a blast and from then one I was the MG3 guy.
@@IQsveen Lol, no, but I did name it.
i love when games animate the ammo belt. seeing it run out near the end is one of my favorite things. more immersive
Agreed. The static ammo belt in modern gaming is just laziness.
same. i especially like when they get the type right (disintegrating vs non)
BF1 was great for this
@@rubberwoody yeah and the stripper clips of ammo aswell. Watching the clip feed through the gun.
I was once an importer of the HK 417 for the Australian Army; I can confirm that it was never rebranded as F 417 and all markings were factory standard.
The Australian Army keep all of their HK firearms as close to factory standard as possible for ease of parts replacement.
The HK 417 is not just used in the SF as it is often distributed through units as Designated Marksman Rifles
Not anymore unfortunately, they've been removed from infantry sections and replaced with the standard EF88 with a harris bipod, which is a crying shame
@@ImperatorClass really? why? I've used the ef88 in the navy, and its a lot easier to use than the old f88s, but to replace a marksman rifle shooting 7.62??
@@gabriel.9959 Because the powers that be in our High Command don't make good decisions, thats why.
@@ImperatorClass oh I know..unfortunately 😂
@@ImperatorClass Taking way DMRs with a heavier longer-ranged round, and replacing them with rifles in the same caliber as the rest of the squad, is basically almost eliminating the existence of the Designated Marksmen role :/
The VR game _Into the Radius_ might tickle Jonathan's fancy! Aside from the usual more realistic firearm interactivity you typically get with VR shooters, this one also includes the need to manually load your magazines (which are physical objects in the game that need to retained, since you can't use the gun without the correct magazine), bullet by bullet, from ammo boxes, in addition to needing to clean and maintain your guns and magazines.
I'm not talking an option in a menu either! To clean the barrel, you need to tear off a bit of paper, attach it to the cleaning rod, and jam it into the barrel and move it back and forward. To clean the outside, you spray on some WD-40 and scrub it with a toothbrush. And you need to get at *ALL* areas of the gun, it won't be properly clean unless you scrub *EVERYWHERE!*
Love into the radius.
@@woodsy.2977 that is a statement. Love into the radius now. *NOW*
Jonathan will love this
That sounds horrible.
Got some gameplay of this game in my channel if y'all are curious
Vermintide 2 has enough guns now that it could be an interesting idea. Flintlock Pistols, rifles, magazine pistol, minigun and even duckbill handguns to name a few.
Seconded, Johnathan please react to Vermintide 2’s weirdly intricate fantasy guns.
Said the exact same thing yesterday, would love to see a Vermintide episode
Yes! this please!
Defo. Seconded.
Oh yeah
I know this isn't a hundred percent on topic, but getting the FN 249 to run with casket mags was worth it for Marvel. Visually, it is a perfect balance between real and the kind of sci-fi blaster you'd see in 60's and 70's Marvel comics. It is a tactical gun who's favorite artist is Jack Kirby.
As entirely impractical a setup it is, since it also lacks a stock, they definitely pulled off the visual aspect with it.
@@wardog0086 It doesn't lack a stock, it just has a collapsible one
@@YellowDogWithCone Ohhh, good point. On second glance, it looks like the Para variant. I'm dumb, lol.
@@wardog0086 It IS the Paratrooper variant, Short barrel and collapsible stock.

G'day mate;
I was in the Aus Army when the HK417 Procurement came though. The reason that they were denoted as "HK417" instead of an F prefix is because they were purchased as an off the shelf solution to requirements in the MEO. They were never fully supported and when they broke, they were discarded. There's lots of conjecture around why this was done, but typically procurement or inception of a new system Army wide is a pretty big process. The Aus Army's philosophy is to train and equip for THE war, which is the war to defend Australia, and not A war, which would be Afghan/Iraq etc..... With that in mind, the capability was seen to be a requirement for MEO Forces only and not something that would need to be adopted broad scale. The other rumour that was kicking around was that eventually the steyr's would be upgraded to what would become the EF88 and that version would have an optic that would provide a DMR capability to all troops. The HKs were issued out i believe 7 years before the EF88 would be a thing so i'm not sold on that idea, but the TLDR is, it was called the HK because it was bought off the shelf with no plans of maintaining it or retaining it post the MEO. We also had some M110 go through as well but they were deemed to not be as good as the HK417. In 2016, something like 50 of them that were never pulled out of the boxes were sent for destruction..... heart breaking
I don't think they are hipifiring.
I think in most "modern" military shooters you are firing from a ready position but simply not using the sights.
Now, I have never fired at a human being before, but during Airsoft events or action style close range target shooting, I personally use more of the line of the gun to vaguely aim.
I think this is what most of the "hip firing" is now.
Correct, and another term that I believe to be correct is “point shooting”
Yes you can see it in the animations. There is no actual hip fire in squad.
the other thing with "hip firing" is - as memory serves as it's many years since I fired a GPMG - although the gun is a beast, the feed system isn't "all that" and will only lift a few inches of belt.
Any more and you're looking at a misfeed.
Basically one good burst, and you'd be done.
Not ideal CQBR material.
YEP, Squad even added in (presumably after this was recorded) and "low" position to most GPMGs when walking around so you you have to bring up and ready the weapon before you can even fire.
I thought it was the Australian update but I guess not. I know the M240B has it now.
yup. I do that in VR and it works very well. would have never thought I would get multiple headshots in a row on diffrent tagets without really aiming.
the longer the gun, the better it works ;-)
Get him to react to MGS weaponry. I'd like to see his reaction to weapons which look like a mishmash of guns.
MGS3 would be great imo, there's already like codec calls with sigint that talk about them would be neat to fact check/compare
MGSV would be great to see him have a look at.
Yeah. I always want to see him reacting to the customization options in games.
MGSV has some neat fake guns based on real ones, and the earlier games feature some interesting real guns. The HK Mk23, FAMAS, Colt SAA, AN-94, and I'd love to see what the thinks of The Patriot
Snake Eater followed by MGS2
God knows if the poor footage collector would have enough time to get all the guns in V
Love all the Australian representation in this episode

@@Mr_T_Badger Your time will come too Canadian bro!🤗
21:17 Infantry here, it's referred to as the M240B if it's one of the older models, however they introduced a lighter variant (otherwise practically identical) that's called the M240L, as well as a vehicle mounted version (with no stock, a cut grip, and a modified charging handle) called the M240C.
I'd really like to see another look at Hunt: Showdown from Johnathan. Last time only scratched the surface of what the game's arsenal has in it.
I'd love to see that too!
unfortunatelly i gave up on that already
Especially since the devs changed a reload animation based on his feedback! And even explained the workings of the Avtomat Mosin in a devlog
About the minimi and the magwell for stanag mags. (im a minimi gunner in the norwegian army.) i always hear from other nations that they find the minimi / m249 saw unreliable, but that is never the case from my perspective. our lmg's come directly from belgium and they never seem to fail. when i have to use the magwell with regular stanag mags i never had an issue (except the pmags since its made from polymer and the minimi tends to chew them up) i have over 5 years of first hand experiance with the weapon as a regular machinegun infatryman and now as an instructor. only thing that seems to stop it is ice.
The minimi is picky about mags, if the springs are weak it will not feed right at the higher rpm setting, if the mag's feed lips are not perfect they get hit.
@@SuperFunkmachine i could see that as a reason. we use the HK mags that comes with our 416's, and they are very reliable.
@@TittyMonkeys there it is. Aluminum Colt mags are hit or miss. The Gen 1 PMAGs were absolute no-gos, I dunno about the Gen 3s. I expect they might do better with the overinsertion stops taking out a lot of the wobble.
Love seeing an actual F88/EF88 in a game over the base AUG. As an aussie it's great to see our standard service rifle being depicted so nicely in a videogame.
I'm pretty sure the quad stack mag in the M249 Bucky had was the 100 round version. It always bugged me that they did that instead of a normal belt in the box. But I realized they probably never used blanks in that gun, so all the muzzle flash was done digitally. So if they had used belted ammo, it would have been clearly static whenever he was supposed to be shooting. So it would have either looked dumb (I've seen movies that did this and it's terrible) or it would have cost a lot more in digital effects to fix it.
Also it's something different and unusual, every other time I can think of they've had that particular weapon it's been with a belt on it.
@@gabrielmalaguti5512 yes because that's the way its supposed to be used. The ability to take magazines was just for emergency situations so the gunner could use ammo from other squadmates if he ran out. As he mentioned in the video, it doesn't work the best. So it wouldn't make sense to go out of your way to do it, unless it was for technical reasons while filming a movie lol
My impression was that it was trying to stand in for some kind of futuristic gun. With the exotic look the canted magazine gives it, combined with the lack of a bipod, most moviegoers wouldn't necessarily read it as a light machine gun visually.
Knowing Marvel it was likely all digital no blanks. I think they sometimes stray into using too much CG but I will give them credit, they are good at it, well the studios they contract out to
@@ZeroSuitSamo I just thought it was for those who know what it is see an unusual configuration, and those that don't just see a cool gun. 乁( •_• )ㄏ
I’ve been playing so much squad lately glad it’s getting the boost it deserve it’s better than 2042 in every way but needs some work.
Strong indicator of the sad state of many AAA games if you can say an indy title is better in every way but "needs some work" too.
@@Kenionatus It needs some work in the sense that it has a long way before it becomes what it originally set out to be. It was meant to be a modern equivalent of Project Reality - a complete overhaul mod for Battlefield 2 - so they're still missing maps, jets, countries, carriers, various emplacements, sea-borne assaults and lots more. I believe they toned down the scope, which is apparent when it released out of early access with those features missing, but still.
I wish they bring squads to console.
With the sks, and this might just be the one that I own, it really kicks those casings out when it ejects them. They go straight up and spin like in game, but they go pretty high. I've had a case get stuck in the foam soundproofing my local range had on the roof
I wish they'd also do a review on the guns from Squad's older brother ,Project Reality, even if the models look dated and the game engine itself is old its still just as harsh as squad, still being updated and theres still a loyal playerbase. Theres even WW2 , Vietnam, Falkands, Chechen-Russian conflict, Gaza, and Syria maps in PR and more factions than Squad
I think the high lethality of bayonets (and often knives) in video games is entirely down to game play purposes. You're taking a melee weapon to a gunfight and if it isn't highly lethal then why would you ever be using it? Game designers have to buff the lethality of the weapon to make it viable because you just don't get that desperation forced hand to hand combat situation in a video game.
Usally its meant to be the last asset u use e.g ur mag is empty and the enemy is coming to u, u dont have the time too reload so u use a kknive or bajonet. When i was in German army, we trained even with our shvel to swing it right too get max damage out f it. Even if we dont have any trench warfares anymore ion the world xD
@@StoffiePrductions Yeah, British are still trained with bayonet mounts and CQC drills
@@StoffiePrductions Yeah, but the Bundeswehr is famously bad at getting things like rifles and ammo. There's a story out there of German soldiers showing up to a NATO wargame with brooms instead of rifles.

@@StoffiePrductions only partly joking. There definitely are reports of Germany showing up with broomsticks instead of rifles. Google "german broomsticks nato".
squad is a really quality game hats off to the devs
I know for myself when using the Gustav in Squad, I tend to start with an HE shell to track vehicles first, since the flight of the rocket is faster and has less of an arc. Then, follow up with a tandem when it's stuck.
love to see johnathan critque more realistic games. Post scriptum would be a good follow up. that game includes the french faction in ww2 with some unique guns. Could also look at some motars or anti-tank guns etc.
I'd love for him to look at Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain
"Post scriptum would be a good follow up." ... As it were?
One little mistake about RPD Is that it dosent use disintegrating links like shown but a solid metal belt
9:51 "Because it's 1980s vintage, bit like me." Johnathan's golden British humor right there. 🤣
I loved seeing Jonathan's take on the Australian weaponry! It's good to see my country represented realistically in one of my favourite shooters!
Still holding out for a DOOM episode, going through the various doom games up to Eternal and the DLCs, it'd be fun to see what he makes of the Sentinel hammer or the Crucible.
Or the fact that a future weapon is unable to attach a flashlight ;)
@@89DerChristian Duct tape is a lost technology in the future.
10:57 Squad has a logistics and resource system, tandem warheads do cost more in game so you want to make sure a vehicle is immobilized with your cheaper HEAT round first.
I can tell you from my own experience that the case ejection on that SKS is definitely not powerful enough. I try as hard as I can to pick up all my spent casings after shooting, but the rifle flings the things around 10-15 feet and they often seem to just disappear into the ether.
The brass god needs his tithe
The main reason why most squad players begin with the high explosive on most targets is how tandem drops heavily after firing, not sure how realistic it is but it covers about half the range of the regular HE missile. Overall HE serves as kind of a general use round, and it’s significantly easier to zero.
I think it's about a year now I've been watching Jonathan, and he's still immensely entertaining and him talking about guns remains as interesting as ever. What a UA-cam series this is, well done Jonathan and Dave!
The fact they have the first ever l7a2 is pretty impressive
Hunt Showdown really deserves a second look from Jonathan! They fixed the reload animation for the Sparks and have added more historically interesting guns like the berthier
Receiver 2's more realistic and in-depth take on firearms would be interesting for him to react to and experience.
Seconded. Receiver 2 would be a great one for Fergo to talk about.
And also, perhaps showing some of the audio clips with its tongue in cheek commentary on the various firearms might also tickle his fancy.
Yeah, would love that.
I particularly love Receiver 2's depiction of the Desert Eagle - It portrays all the reasons why it's an impractical combat handgun (such as the weight making your aim wobbly if you hold it up for too long, the massive recoil, etc.), and comments on it extensively in the audio logs...
...but then, comically, it turns out to be one of the best possible guns for the extremely niche fantasy scenario portrayed in the game, in ways which make complete sense in hindsight (long guns are not available, limited ammo means that you don't want to fire rapidly and that the power of each round matters a lot, and the ammo that's sort of overkill in normal anti-personnel combat is right at home when dealing with light-weight drones - which can often be broken apart/disabled by the sheer force transfer even if you only hit a glancing shot. It also has very reliable and straightforward reload/safety/clearing procedures).
Also, it's the only game I know that has portrayed the Hi-Point.
@@MysticTheDarkElf I'd love to see his reaction to the two rivalling notes/logs, "Revolvers are ALWAYS more reliable than semi-autos" and "Semi-automatic handguns are ALWAYS more reliable than revolvers" lol
Fun fact: The M3 Gustav ammunition selection in real life includes anything from illumination, smoke, airburst HE, confined-space munitions, and even the ADM401/FFV401: A canister round that fires 1,000 flechettes for area defense. These kind of munitions were used in artillery, tanks, and the M79 grenade launcher during Vietnam to saturate an overrun position with devastating effects on infantry.
HE airburst is just the regular HE round but you turn the egg timer at the top for distance (if I remember correctly) of where you're shooting at.
and hot air balloons that you shoot at knocked out guys to recruit them, but motherbase has to be pretty built up so you only realistically get them late game
Would love to see him react to Receiver 2. Easily the most realistic depiction of firearms handling outside of VR.
I would still love for Jonathan to take a look at the Weapons that the Dwarfs are wielding in Deep Rock Galactic. Espically since the new weapons just came out.
good game but not a good subject for a video from a firearms expert. It's just cartoony mishmash.
@@claudiuspulcher2440 they had a few games that weren't realistic at all on here so I don't see why not.
I would give just about anything to hear Johnathan yell “Rock and Stone” or “For Karl!” 🤣
Have you done Ghost Recon Wildlands?
They have a ton of guns in the game. They are very accurate in their design and features.... but then the range and ballistics.... check it out you will see.
I think its a way they make a map only a few scale miles across feel like a huge country. They drop a zero from the weapon range stats, so 200m is a "long shot" as though it were 2000. One of the longest shots made in the game I saw was only 1100m, and had to be taken from a mountain top, aiming several meters high, with an HTI.
Wildland or breakpoint.Yes please
Funny enough the RPD stuck for a while in the red army, first I thought they were obsolete as soon as they adopted the PK and RPK, but they actually went to be manufactured untill 1969 in the USSR, China, Egypt and Vietnam went even further, that's why they aren't as uncommon as they should.
At close range it's the ultimate in overwhelming fire. 100 rounds of 7.62 x 39 is controllable enough but hits harder than a SAW.
AK47 series is good but cant maintain as much continuous fire, nor can it stretch out and hit at as long a distance.
Only reason the RPD got replaced was the RPK. Still though, the belt feed of RPD is often considered more reliable than the RPK drums.
One mistake Jonathan missed: RPD doesn't use disintegrating links.
Another thing he missed is the fact that the SKS front sight is comically large when aiming down sights, AKM and AK-74 rifles also suffer this fate in the game but to a lesser degree
The tandem rounds are for aiding in taking out tanks if you're working with a armor squad, otherwise they are pretty much used for scaring them off unless you get a good angle on their ammo rack. the heat rounds dont do anything to a tank aside from engine damage or tracking the tank. they are best used for logis and light vehicles like btrs and brdms.
I think he should react to the weapons of the Bioshock franchise.
The first frame of the vid is hilarious
Since I was a young boy I dreamed of doing what Jonathan does, having the amount of information that Jonathan does about firearms and firearms technology has always been an interest of mine.
I think it would cool for you to react to the guns from the 2nd and 3rd instalments of the Killzone franchise, it it is personally one of my favorite franchises
Love seeing Jonathan speaking about our (Aussie) service weapons!
It was pretty cool hearing the sound of grabbing ammo from a pouch for the SKS. Most games just magic a magazine right under the gun into your hand.
Gotta love Johnathan every time he shows up, I wonder if he streams games and talks about guns in them?
Hes on the Royal Armouries UA-cam channel, considering he's a museum curator and keeper of 1000s of firearms I imagine he doesn't have a lot of free time
A reaction to the first Insegency's workshop guns would be fun. There is a CZ Scorpion Evo 3 I'd like to hear his opinion on as I also own the gun irl and typically don't see it too much in games.
You should have Johnathan look at rifles from the "Middle East Escalation" mod.
Plenty of variants of different rifles from regular and irregular factions.
Woo! new episode, can't wait to see him react to gears of war weapons lol wonder what he'll think of the quad stack mag with a space inbetween the magazine to allow chainsaw use
Yes, the SKS does eject up and forward (very forcefully)
I used the Swedish version of the FnMag called KSP58 and yes we do shoot it from the hip and do practice doing so, however never aiming down sights when standing up.
Main issue there is the brass casings are falling down out of this gun and that is where you would want to put your hand to shoot it while looking down the sight which would cause your hand to stop the brass casings.
However there is usually a nice little handle used to swap barrels. And that one has a locked setting so that you can use it aggressively without the barrel coming lose.
Holding your left hand on that and shooting the gun from the hip is very controllable as the gun is heavy enough to not let the recoil interfere too much.
Then just shoot and correct where you see the dust from the 7.62 hitting the ground/tree/walls or whatever you have around your target
I love these videos with Johnathan, keep it up!
I second the already mentioned game Into the Radius as well as Receiver 2, a game focused on gun handling without VR.
As an Aussie it makes me very happy to see some Australian forces weapons. Awesome video!
I’ve trained with the MINIME on my LMG course at Altcar and there’s no way unless you have ridiculous forearm strength you could reload it like you see in this video while standing up. I remember having to carry two of the buggers and extra ammunition on the way to the ranges and let me tell you 16 kilos of weaponnry starts to feel like 30 by the time you’re at the ranges😂 it was a very fun weapon system to train with though
That's a thing in Rising Storm 2: Vietnam, unless you're in a mounted position, all reloads are done crouching or prone, they'll force you to go stationary and crouch if you want to reload any MG.
Regular infantry have access to the HK417 as well used as a DMR. Commonly referred to as the “HK”.
In game each team only gets 2 ppl who can use the HAT class which has access to 1 tandem and 1 HEAT warhead, each squad gets access to up to 2 LATs, usually meaning there are about 5-10 of these classes on each team (dependent on layer). These classes only have access to HEAT rounds, along with fragmentation rounds for anti-personnel with some factions. Certain factions also give both classes smoke rounds but this is rare.
Love hearing Johnathon’s thoughts on milsim shooters!
19:00 Man, there's something so satisfying about a smooth, proper stripper clip reload.
Regarding the bipod, you should really check out Red Orchestra II: Heroes of Stalingrad. The gunplay and interaction to the enviroment is really well made.
RO2 has the best cover system integration for an FPS, being able to "walk" the MG 34 in that from behind cover is very nice.
They do have a video on RS2:Vietnam which has mostly the same mechanics. Don't recall if it came up in the video though.
I'd love to see Jonathan take a look at the weapons in Receiver 2. There's only a handful (less than ten) but they're all meticulously modeled & deleted and you have to operate pretty much each individual part of them to get them to fire.
3:30 my friend in the swedish army, they basically train to hip fire the fn mag especially in CQB, its not as hard as it seems, and in a pinch you can do it with adrenaline. you aint accurate at all, but suppression and fire superiority is whats important, you dont always have the opportunity to lay down or get it on a wall
Good to see the 417 on here, but I would love to see a game where the 416 is depicted and with Jonathan reacting. Used that rifle a lot during my service!
It’s coming in the form of the m27 with the USMC in Squad, and potentially the French I’d they are added as an official faction.
Bosnia '95 saw a couple of "TacP" guys firing the gpmg from the shoulder have to say I was impressed.
I’ll tell you this for the war heads they have for the rockets, the HEAT rounds you usually get more of and cost less to get from an available ammo supply and fly pretty straight where you want to shoot. While the Tandom round coast more, does more damage to anything really, cost a significant amount more to resupply and has a lot more drop off from the extra weight to it so you have to compensate more for it at longer ranges.
I'd love to see a future video on H3VR modded weapons- the modulAR and modulAK collections are a particular highlight with all the crazy customisation, but also Meatyceiver_2 (which introduces weapon jams), as well as vanilla H3VR features that weren't covered in the previous two videos that I think Jonathan would appreciate: tactical/retention reloads; reloading magazines with individual rounds including choosing the order of rounds (for e.g. you could have one mag full of tracers if you wanted, or alternating tracers and AP incendiary); using a shotgun to breach doors
Please have Jonathan look at generation zero guns (including the dlc weapons and experimental weapons). His reaction and info he gives on those Swedish weapons will be great.
Absolutely love the SKS. Only played it in Tarkov, so trying it IRL would be great.
I fired a scoped SKS about ten years ago in Texas at a friend’s property. Not a bad gun but I wish I’d used it with iron sights as I could never get the scope to align properly.
Excellent video Jonathan! You are one of the very few experts who actually critiques the weapons as they are represented in the game instead of just commenting on the game or getting off topic and I love watching you react to games that actually try to be realistic because of it. Keep up the great work and sadly I do not have an M110 SASS to donate at this time :(
Still can’t believe they haven’t done a World at War episode
The SIG 550 in the background, the premium 5,56 rifle :D
The reason you have the first ''Mrs. Mag'' as we call it in Brazilian Army is just soo cool.
Hk 417 is also used by the norwegian millitary as a marksmans rifle
I've heard the french also decided to switch to the HK 416 and 417
If I had any power at all in the gaming industry I'd make a in game gun called "the Ferguson"
I'd make it so wrong,It would eject rounds from the rear of the gun,But the magazine would be at the front sideways on,In a made up calibre .76 but have 9mm markings on it,Hoops for charms,Pump action and bolt operated one after the other,Reloads would insert in single rounds three rounds but then it Reloads 30.
*A trophy pops* Angered Jonathan.
Awesome video as usual
all the reloads are so gentle and careful compared to other games
US army uses M240 B, marines and spec units have a short version called the M240G, there's also an M240C which is a coax version, with rear controls similar to an M2 browning for mounted use on helicopters etc.
We need an updated one now, with the new weapon handling and the new weapons
I'd love another tarkov video, specifically about the difference ammunition makes
Only problem with the EF88 is it isn't issued with iron sights, but that was a dev decision to do that. The mod where it came from (as well as all the ADF assets in Squad) had them with a Spectre set to the 1x magnification or in some cases a F88 with with the 1.5x
I have used FN mag or KSP 58 to be exact in the army. it´s a bit heavy for a squad mg. the lack of forstock makes it imposible to shoot it from the sholder. So unless you are going to spray and pray. you got to have it suported by the bipod. it´s nice if the loader tells you where you hit.
This isn't really a hot take, but this is the best reaction series on UA-cam, without a doubt
Got to love the general!
Squad is a fantastic way to play soldiers tactically with random strangers. Bring a mic and good hunting
3:57 It took me a minute to realize he was saying "military types." The first 3 times I listened to it, I swear I heard "I defer to the murdery types," which made it way funnier.
Good stuff. How about some more insurgency sandstorm guns? I'd recommend their M1 Garand (make sure to try the grenade launcher to see the animation- there is also a period correct scope) and the MR73 revolver (with reload animation- top up and speed loader). There's a bunch more that were not covered in the first video.
Kind of cool @ 18:59, the SKS gunner fires 11 rounds. Does the game allow one to top off the magazine somehow?
Single handedly keeping Gamespot alive
Due Process has some really neat looking guns, if you want to check that out. It's an indie FPS that's basically what would happen if you combined R6 Siege and CS:GO together in a dystopian, cyberpunk world.
"A bit of a 1980's vintage like me"
I don't think it's mentioned enough, but man his sense of humor's great
The tandem rounds have a lower range due to the weight. They also have to be aimed higher above the target due to having to compensate for a much larger arc.
The gmgp "aka the G.M.G.P I am a General using this Machine Gun with Purpose." 😂
I have got to fire a SKS with wooden furnishing. And load it with the stripper clip and one at a time. Though I had to get used to the 7.62 round of it as it has been some time since I last fired the Kalashnikov round.
Regular infantry units use the 417 In Australia as the marksman rifle
The teaser for the next video looks like a Galil ACE with a 30rd M1 Carbine (.30 Carbine) mag. IMI did make Galil Micros chambered in .30 Carbine, presumably to update their inventory.
The problem with bipods, especially when the player is shooting prone, is how do you model the players fov. Because realistically, the player would not be able to turn without picking up the gun and putting it back down, so the field of aim would be so tight, that players would most likely just give up and don't do it
I never thought i’d hear a austin powers reference while talking about a squad support machine gun
