this dude is a born actor. He nails every role and his eyes and facial muscles alone emote more than any dialogue could. He makes me feel his character. He is a genius actor!
Freddie Highmore is his name🥰. Johnny was so impressed by him that he cast him in Willy Wonka as Charlie obviously:) Tim obviously said yes too lol. Freddie says that Johnny is brilliant and a good friend to him♥️
Freddie Highmore was so good in this scene! I really felt his pain. My dad was killed by a drunk driver when I was 25, and I have asked questions like the ones Peter asked in this final scene.
One of my all time favorite movies - got the change to go to London and found the Statue of Peter Pan in Kensington Park that was donated by James Barrie - what a wonderful story - makes me cry every time I watch it!
As a Scotsman, Johnny Depp had the best and most accurate Scottish accent I have ever heard a non Scot do... Well done that man. Also Scotland don't have 1 accent they have a few, he doesn't sound like me a Glasweigen but he nails it in the head for where Barrie was from 👍🏼 That alone should have gotten him the Oscar but then the academy are all old American white men so??? What's the point? I believe in diversity!
This movie was on showtime today. My mom and I turned it on halfway thru. The actor who played Peter was wonderful. They way he had tears in his eyes was beautiful. What a sad, but lovely story. One of my favorite movies. Gets me crying supper hard every time I start watching from the premiere of the play to the end. This actor really impressed my mother too
I’m 53 this year and we lost our Mum in February, we feel the loss the same whatever time we had so this really touched me. However I remember seeing this when it first came out at the performance moved me to tears, so it was strange to revisit it after all this time and when so much had changed🙏🏻RIP all those Mums we have lost❤️
There will always be more hats, umbrellas and grief-stricken conversations in life. They have both passed on, but the conversation on the loss of a loved one and finding the strength to move on remains. Also, it's where Peter was given the first glimpse of finding enjoyment in life after losing his father.
Myself as Narrator: And so J.M Barrie continued to write amazing stories about Neverland until his passing. Peter Pan continues to inspire millions that by the 1950s Walt Disney and crew made a musical adaptation to J.M Barries story it became a box office success. Peter pan and Neverland became multiple adaptations and continues to inspire those who have the greatest of happy thoughts. In Memory of J.M Barrie the man whose Happy Thoughts brought him and his family to Neverland. "To Live would be an awfully big adventure."
This movie came out the year after my dad died when I was a very young teen. This scene always makes me cry just like it did when I first saw it. And now as a mother to a child who has lost a father young, it resonates with me doubly because whereas once in this scene I saw myself in the child, I now see myself as the adult.
This is my favorite part of the movie.the ending of the movie made me cry hard because the little boy said I thought she would be here why she had to die. Also the little boy had that sad crying face thats what made me cry. Hes mom is in never thats what Johnny deep he just believe an you can visit her.
Such an unforgettable scene. Unbelievable acting. Johnny Depp didn't play a false note. I'm not sure how he was able be in that scene and not cry. I suppose his character's goal in that scene was to support the boy and that's what he did.
Besides Jack Sparrow, this is my favorite role of Johnny Depp. We lost our black Labrador Juliet, and even though this is talking about a mother, it hits in the feels of losing a beloved pet as well 😢
You can see her intentions though, loss, commitment, trust all takes part. James was all of these but the grandma didn’t know until the end that he wasn’t ever going to abandon them.
I hope my death is as elegant, happy, calm, beautiful, & peaceful as this. Johnny Depp is so handsome & he ages well over the years. He’s my favorite actor of all time.
So them disappearing from the bench with his hat & umbrella still there tells me that him & Peter died but the hat & umbrella still there remains as magic.
Yeah, i believe James (in the true story behind the movie) passed from pneumonia, and Peter, very sadly threw himself in front of a train in his adult life :(
I don't remember when I watched this. I know I was at my grandparents house, my brother was very small (born 2008), and my sister probably wasn't a thought yet (born 2014). I watched the movie with my parents and grandparents and I remember this scene. I think I remember asking if she was going to get better as she walked into Neverland. My mom and dad both said something along the lines of "No", "No, I don't think so", "No, because she is walking into heaven/this looks like heaven".
The most unforgettable character of JD's for me , Edward Scissorhand.. i still cry if i watch the movie. I love his character here as Mr Barrie and Willy Wonka too. It's different characters but both nice. Jack Sparrow is almost like Willy Wonka😂.. but one another of JD's character that unforgettable was in Secret Window. He's psychotic person and the character was dark. Very much different from all his characters before.
James says to peter "you can visit her anytime you like" the image of them disappearing if you think about it is to represent them taking a trip into their imagination to neverland, which of course is where Peter is :) Deep and very well done ending.
Most times you look back and don't realise it was Johnny Depp, that's what makes him amazing imo, most actors you just immediately know like Dwayne Johnson that you're watching Dwayne Johnson but Depp is different, he can portray entirely different people completely convincingly making you really forget that you're watching Johnny Depp. He's like a movie chameleon it's really strange, going back through so many movies that i loved and never realised all featured Johnny Depp it's just weird how you can watch the same face in so many films and not recognize that it's the same person
As a son of a mother who died of cancer this touched me. I’ll see her in neverland one day.
My mother died the same. I remember watching this movie with her when she was really sick. I told her she reminded me of Sylvia. We had a good cry together.
I am so sorry guys. May GOD bless you.
My father died of cancer and he loved Peter Pan. I will see him there too one day.

If this film doesn't fetch him an Oscar.. I don't know what will!!! 😥
He got several nominations (including an Oscar nom) for it, but didn’t win any of them. He was up against Jamie Foxx in ‘Ray’ that year.
