She could also tell me that he has a serious insomnia syndrome that alters his days. That is the only problem he can have and I believe we all know about it.

Tim Burton didn't direct the second film, Burton produced it because Burton was busy directing Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, so the second film has a more traditional Disneyesque lighter tone and less of the darker Burtonesque tone, and Tarrant Hightopp goes from depressed to happy in the second film so he speaks in a gentle high voice reflecting the light joyous side of his personality, he only spoke in a deep Scottish accent when he was irritable because the Red Queen wanted Hightopp decapitated and when he thought his family were murdered by the Red Queen's Jabberwock. Hightopp and Kingsleigh defeated the Red Queen's dictatorship, he became depressed about Alice Kingsleigh leaving Underland, but she returned and here he found his long lost family. I don't see see any reason why she couldn't return to the Underland dimension again. Tim Burton and script writer Linda Woolverton have 'Wonderland" actually being a misunderstood name for Underland because Charles Dodgson's original manuscript name for the book was Alice's Adventures Under Ground. Alice Kingsleigh comes to realize that her childhood "dream" of "Wonderland" was not a dream at all, but an actual memory, and consequentially, that Underland, although a different dimension, is real [like the Upside Down in Stranger Things is an alternate dimension, not a dream].

There are certain relationships in this world which can't be named or categorized. Such is the one between Alice, the Hatter and the people of wonderland. We, on the other hand are kinda limited with what we know, and so while looking at something we always try to bring it down to what exist in our mindly database. As Hatter rightly concludes, 'who's to say which is which' :)
This ending actually really upset me. She had all that time to run around saving the hatters family, she left him the first time. Which you can see obviously hurts his feelings cause he cares about her. She never spent any time with him or the people of wonderland personally. This is the second time alice has left wonderland half handed. It seems like all she does is come into wonderland, fix things for a few hours, then leaves. While seeming polite and pleasant it honestly feels like she can't wait to get out of there. I would have stayed for a few days or hours. Just to show these people some spec of respect and company. Imagine spending several hours saving your best friends family, and then leaving the very moment you get a chance to actually spend real time with them and wonderland. Alice is not actually very nice to hatter, you can see hatters poor dismay as he holds out his lingering hand with a face in absolute heartbreak
