@@iahernandez9 thats good. Shame theres hack mechanics out there that cant be bothered to just put a heat shield back on. So easy to do. But I guess its easier to just throw it away and hope the customer doesnt notice.
I'm only a minute in and had to stop. I'm a heavy truck mechanic for over 30 years and it pisses me off to no end when you hear guys say don't worry you don't need it. If it didn't need it it wouldn't be there. It costs manufacturers millions of dollars for little heat shields and plastic this and that. They need it. Back to the video 👍 🇨🇦 🔧
I was looking at a truck one time and decided to buy it so i got the owner to come with me to the DMV but i went to the one in the next town over so i could take it for a good test run with the seller in the truck half way there the carpet started smoking by my foot jumped out to look and sure enough the heat shield was gone and there was a tiny hole there big enough the let the heat from the exhaust reach the carpet .. everything ended ok but it could have been a lot worse from something so simple.
Actually, the heat shield was there. It was just not installed correctly. I went to another place, Matt kept in putting the date back to repair my vehicle
He explained it exactly how I explain it to my sisters and my daughter when I work on their cars, truth and facts. Anna is very nice, its hard to trust mechanics these days. Good job Mathew 💪👍💯
These people cant afford the repairs and most of them would probably try to drive them til they die and get a different car, saving peoples vehicles from the scrapper and saving people money!
I hate feeling like I'm up selling even when it's absolutely called for, when you have a service advisor it's no big deal but when you're running your own show it's a different story, at least for me it is.
You should only feel guilty if you’re being dishonest about it. You’re selling them what they need to keep their car running. You just have to tell them in a way so they understand. Sometimes it’s best to show them the problem if you can so they’ll know.
@@jae6220 I always thoroughly explain and show the customer what I find but even after 6 years of running this business and building a great reputation I still feel it. Just a recommendation, explicitly tell her up front, after the test drive, that her engine is fine, since that was her prime concern. She might not know what an idler pulley and tensioner pulley are.
