Truly excellent videography and sound! Many thanks for sharing the videos with us…several of your locations were familiar to me…especially on the Ballina Branch….I also really enjoyed the ‘atmospheric evening ’ shots taken at dusk with the mist just forming above the ground. Your efforts are much appreciated…especially now I don’t drive my car any more…and I really miss visiting Ireland’s great railway viewpoints such as those you’ve highlighted so well. Best wishes and a happy New Year from Rob in Bournemouth, Dorset.
Thanks Rob, I got lucky with some of those evening/fog shots. I hadn’t planned going to those locations but it turned out to be a good decision. That’s tough you’re unable to travel to Ireland anymore but appreciate your kind words. If you want to see more west of Ireland videos check out a channel called ‘Eirvid Productions’. Worth checking out. Kind Regards, Paul.
Wonderful to see all them freight trains the amount of heavy vehicles that could be taken of our roads would be fantastic if they're was more of our closed railways reopened....brilliant video footage
Great to see the 071 class on the Ballina branch. There was a time when the bridge beyond foxford would preclude that happening…. Also the fact that it’s now 60-70 mph on the branch is excellent. Again there was a time when you would get shaken to death at 55mph. Much smoother now.
@ yes I see that there are funds committed to that now. But you know how that works. Snails pace. It’s needed for sure. It opens up the whole country to all ports and links 2 of the 3 major west coast cities. I’m assuming that the Burma road is not part of the reopening. On another note. How is the Ballina branch currently signaled. A long time ago….. it was staff of token but now I don’t know what it is. I’m assuming CTC or something similar.
@@ivanmccaffrey316Ballina branch is full CTC like the rest of the Mayo branch. The only downside is there are no loops west of Claremorris between Ballina or Westport.
Brilliant 071 sounds
Thanks, I had the easy job recording them!
Excellent footage really. And the sound is very good too
Glad you enjoyed it

Thanks, lots of HGVs off the road from Co Mayo. Freight needs expanding.

All has changed from those days. Upgrading was needed and thankfully the branch was.
It would be nice if they would connect the WRC in claremorris again. Or at least create a loop back to the main line from the ballinrobe side.
Reopening should become a reality in the near future
