Love the analysis. Refreshing change to the weather forecasts for dummies provided by TV presenters. Can you also include analysis of other important features like the the Indian Ocean Dipole? This arguably has a bigger impact than El Niño on rainfall across Australia, if not New Zealand. Might also be good to mention some of the impacts of global warming that we are increasingly seeing each year.
Good work Phil. FYI , the Vendee Globe round the world boats are entering the Indian Ocean and will be tracking to the south of NZ in the coming weeks. Some challenging weather for them too as you rightly point out. Might add some fun to your forecast👍👍. Cheers, Brian B
I'm not sure about forecasting your next climate update this far ahead - it's Ok, we understand the weather forecasting service you provide is subject to change without notice at least as much as the information you're doing your best to convey. Simultaneously adding to our vocabulary is a real bonus. Cheers from the winterless North
I'm in South West Victoria and not a word of your presentation described our experience this year. It's like you're describing the weather on another planet. There has been no 'spring' any more than there was an 'autumn' last year. Or a winter. Every forecast predicted 'average' temperatures and rainfall.... but it never happened. It's just been a long, boring slog of desiccating medium-cool to medium-warm, tree-killing, dam-drying, despair-inspiring wind without rain and without reprieve.
Gee guys, I pop in most days to check out your forecast, and the monthly climate outlook, and especially the long range rain forecast, and today I got nothing, cause there was a dirty great arrow hanging over the Kapiti coast! Are we getting any rain?????
I can see that your gfx system can do animations, so could you animate the arrows so that we get a chance to see what's underneath? even if it's just a cycled fade up and down.

Love the quality of your analysis, super helpful for recreation in the S I mountains. Just on an aside, the Vendee Globe single handed yacht race is presently entering the Southern Ocean to pass below us. Some comments on what they will face from the big storms would be cool.
Stormy southern seas conditions are of more relevance now, but the tropics I think will influence our weather in Jan / Feb. Hopefully not with any cyclones / hurricanes.
The southern ocean storms are not looking good for the Vendee Globe (single handed) yachts who are now passing the Cape of Good Hope and heading South East to their ice exclusion zone limits.
Hmmm Niwa are saying the north island and the top of the south will be wetter than average. The south average. Temperatures above average. Pretty sure that’s what there December January thing on the internet said.
NIWA has said that for many months - each month they keep moving the goalposts. We entirely ignore them as they are 100% commercial and not for public good anymore.
@ yes I agree. That’s why I watch you among others. I was a fisherman for forty five years in the southern south is and much of that time weather forecasting was just a guess so I’ve become very good at using observation and trends etc to try and predict the weather so when NIWA try and feed us a line I know they are not right.
One of the more sensible forecasting channels. Thankyou Phil and Co.
Thanks Philip and Team 🌟🌿🌟
Thank you, really appreciate your weekly forecast for Aus, best wishes for Christmas and the year ahead.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful information and for all the investigation involved. Go well guys.

Fantastic weather reporting Phil and team, thank you.

Hopefully get some more rain in the north for my second water tank before summer hits

The best … Australia watching
But it lays the groundwork for good ideas to blossom. See you new year’s. Thank you.
I like Sprammer!!! 😊😊 Happy Christmas 🎄
Good video 📹 😊
Yeah but not cool enough. We need some colder, wetter weather.
@jase4270 Agree 👍
@@jase4270 Can understand people wanting rain, esp farmers. But why colder?

To the point and even I can understand 👍👍👍😂😂😂

Don't watch NIWA. They are funded by Russia to interfere with our weather forecasts.

The other channel NIWA are still saying La Niña Phillip believe you
A broken clock is right twice a day... if they keep saying it they will eventually nail it! 🤣
