I know Pete wasn't a huge contributor to the show.. But he was awesome and that brought a tear to my eye. You could feel his heart there.. SNL stuck by him thru some really low times.
Though I’m sad to see great talents like Aidy, Kate, and Kyle go it will be nice to see more of the newbies. Aristotle is great but very underused. Looking forward to see more of him.

I see what you did there-I’m not gonna miss Pete either. Everyone has a character that they’re like….meh-they could be in a burning building and I wouldn’t call 9-1-1. Pete is one of those people, and you could argue the same for Kenan, and that one brown haired lady with the apple head…I literally have no idea what her name is.
But seriously-the truth is, people want to see dynamic characters and impressions-not comedians in costumes doing skits they THINK they are nailing. MadTV avoided this for a very long time, but ultimately it was their demise. SNL took note and brought in a cast that saved them from the brink of unfunny and cancellation. However, I truly wonder if it’s ever worth it to green light mediocre skits and talent to fill out an hour.
I know this is a very harsh criticism/analysis of the show. But since SNL is no longer competing with another live skit comedy show, it’s not like they are at all at risk of being cancelled.
Boy, when someone leaves, and you look back to when they arrived cause it seemed to be yesterday, you realize how much time flew by, and maybe you're still in the same place... Bittersweet.

I'm so sad that Aidy Bryant and Pete Davidson are leaving SNL. They're both so great and I'll absolutely miss them.

They need to not add anyone. There were way too many people in the cast, so maybe this will give a chance for the new people to shine.
I know Pete and Aidy need a send-off here, but I'm kinda upset we didn't have a joke swap here especially when the Christmas episode didn't have one either.
Yeah, but I'm pretty sure they're done with joke swaps because nothing's going to top the one from the season 46 finale. Plus, they have a new version where Sarah Squirm delivers fake news about Colin Jost being a perverted, racist elitist and that's just as good.
If the joke swap doesn't come back during season 48, then we'll know that they retired it. If it does, then they just put it on pause due to outside circumstances (COVID for the Christmas episode and saying goodbye to beloved cast members for the season finale version).
I hope he never forgets that.

Thanks for posting in its entirety. 1 of the best Weekend Updates in some time, but quite bittersweet featuring the departing Pete and Aidy. It’s also sad knowing we are losing Kyle and Kate, one of the GOATS this season
Seeing these four go is sad but it looks like they went on their own terms which is always good. But hopefully next season SNL figures out that they should post weekend update in its entirety along with the rest of the clips and not let some third-party do it every weekend

Fun, unrelated fact: if a honeydew or any melon looks like it's got a c section scar (well, OK, not dramatic damage) on the rind, buy it! Those scars are from bugs smelling the sugar inside & trying, futiley (not a word but u know what I mean), to get at it...more scars/scratches, the sweeter the melon.

At least these two are staying. We have that to count on. Funny stuff, repeatedly. And others will get to spread their wings. I have no fear SNL will be fine, even if those leaving will be sadly missed.
Plus, SNL has been on for nearly 50 years. It's been through everything that would have ruined other shows, including cast members leaving and fans ditching the show because they're fan favorites aren't there anymore. If it can survive pandemics and turmoil, it can survive this.

I hate losing such great cast members, but i remember feeling the same way when Sudekis and Samberg and Hader and Wiig etc left and then falling in love with the new cast. I have faith in some of the featured players and writers, these last few seasons have just been SAVAGE! Almost 10 years pete, thanks for all the laughs.

Articles are now popping up about how SNL is gonna be tested now that their “biggest stars” are gone.
When Hader and Sudeikis and Armisen all left together, I was sure the show would plummet, and it did happen to take a while for the gaps to fill. But this time we’ve got Chloe Fineman, Andrew Dismukes, whom I said would be massive when he debuted last season, and Sarah Sherman to basically begin the next big era of SNL. Not to mention Ego Nwodim and Heidi Gardner absolutely carrying sketches all the time.
