2:42. With the exception of the left horn, the S.N.L. makeup team actually did an amazing job at turning Bowen into Krampus. I feel like they're not appreciated enough for the full body suits & costumes since most of the time they are just for 1 sketch & never used again.
Even with the horn coming off, it still looked like a credible one-horned piece, like some kinda demon that might have lost a horn in some battle and the scar tissue filled in over time, rather than a make-up malfunction. If I could do make-up like that, I'd.... well, I'd probably still be sitting at home getting drunk and playing with myself, but at least I'd actually be talented at something. SNL's make-up department definitely has a habit of bringing their A-game.
The facial make-up was great. I just wasn't a fan of the cloves he was wearing. Bowen uses his hands a lot and just seeing those ill fitting claws bothered me. The bit itself tho was hilarious!

I know that the focus of this night was Cecily's exit, but we would be remiss if we didn't acknowledge the absolute trooper that Mikey Day is in not absolutely breaking down when Heidi started groping him. The fact they both held it together so well is astonishing.
Please read her essay about the death of her cousin from brain cancer, and how grief worked through her during the solitude of quarantine. It is deeply moving, and shows her mastery of and very conscious awareness of the narrator's role. She lets the straightforward timeline of (everyone else's) subjective experience take a back seat to the raw awareness of her very real, very relatable pain. There is something very real beneath the surface of her very funny impersonations and routines.
I mean, Leslie admitted on Conan's podcast that she sent several "You up" texts to Colin and had a huge crush on him, so maybe he's more "busy" than we know behind the scenes
Thanks for continuing to upload Weekend Update in it’s entirety on Monday Mornings. The comedy flows more easily. Cecily Strong and her talents will be greatly missed.
I thought Colin looked downtrodden at the beginning of weekend update. He's usually pretty unflappable. But now it makes sense, I think he was really sad 😢

Bowen owns that Krampus bit and damnit, make-up did some owning there as well, even if the horn kame off (still looked like a pretty damned solid one-horned character by the way). Heidi better be bringing aunt Pat back as often as she wants to, if she wants to, and she can bring her butler too. They both just nailed that bit so perfectly. Bowen did his bet bit on Weekend update (my opinion), and Cecily broke my heart but good for her. Moving on to good things. But yeah... no. missed her the moment she threw up her "friends in jail " pic... anywho... and the ending of the show with the Song tribute was lovely.

I put this on my Facebook newfeed the day after I saw this. Cecily Strong stole my heart a long time ago. She's beautiful and funny. And can sing beautifully. I didn't know how talented you have to be to be on SNL. I started watching SNL in the 70's when Garret Moore was on the cast, and he had a great singing voice too. I knew that her departure was real when she her voice changed after talking about going to "jail". I too felt a little sad, because I will miss her, but I know that she will do great wherever she goes.
It felt like Cecily had been in a lot of openers and had more than her share of 'Live from New York' lines which made me wonder if she had already announced she was leaving. She's a gem and she'll be missed.
His horn falling and he just going like nothing happened was the best part 😆 Makes me remember that time when Christopher Walken's mustache failed when he was doing The Continental, that's a classic.

@@TheIrishYoshi yeah I created this narrative in my mind where Heidi hit on Mikey and he turned her down, so she came up with this sketch as a way to kind of get what she wants while humiliating him for turning her down at the same time. And Lorne loved it, so when Mikey was like, "she's just doing this as a way to get away with harassing me on national television," Lorne was like "oh calm down, it's just a few minutes of light groping, and the audience will love it." And Heidi was waiting outside Lorne's office so when Mikey came out, she just gave him that smug, knowing look bullies sometimes do when they've gotten away with something.

"Potato Clamato 'That's a spicy meatball.'" Obscure 70s reference, and it worked! Plus seems like a little of the 80s Murphy Brown recipe for fried "potatoe" quail as a side dish. It's like she made quail Clamato in there. Righteous.
