You’re welcome. Someone showed me how to do this with a rope a long time ago and it made so much more sense after seeing it like that. Felt it was only proper to do the same for others.
Very good instructional video. The rope makes the procedure much more obvious than learning by watching the same with the thread. Glad you took the time to show us and I’m really glad I watched it (over and over). Thanks
When I was teaching a fly tying class I taught this knot before they learned anything else. That was so many years ago and now one can learn so much more on the internet
Yeah I tried to teach myself when I was a kid by reading a book. I got so frustrated with it I didn’t pick it up again until my late 20s. The internet is a great source for sure.
I'm going to study this video until I get the hang of it. I slowed the speed down in settings so I can observe it more easily. Just got my first fly tying vise. Thank you!
buddy...I appreciate this video...but my fingers are rough...haha working outside I guess...my knots don't come out that clean!! ugh Also, what vise are you using?!?!

Thank you! Excellent tutorial! Using the larger diameter rope really made whip finishing by hand easily understandable.

Nice. It took me a while to get the hang of it but with practice, you’ll get there.
Awesome tutorial! I’m new to whip finishing so this helps out greatly! Thanks, Lauren C.

I use a Wolff Indiana Apex fly tying vise. Had it for several years now and I really like it.

Yw
I use my index and middle finger!
I’ve done that as well from time to time.
I tie it using my index finger and middle finger that is how I was taught
I’ve done it that way on occasion
The best
Thanks

Is that really a "whip finish "
I beg to differ...
Ok, bud. Whatever you say.
