See, I actually quite like those clips, aesthetically at least, but then I'm a sucker for skulls in general. It could be better though, for sure, it reminds me too much of The Punisher and I'd rather it look more elegant.
Love my Chaves knives. I have a couple Ultramars. One of them is the exclusive chisel ground version and it’s very aesthetically pleasing and cuts fantastically. The clip caused me to miss the first run but after careful consideration I knew when the next run came out I’d get one and I did right after I got the notification from bladehq haha and I was not disappointed. The look, the action, the blade grinds are sweet. The liberation is very nice but I do not like the edge being so close to the back. I have one and I’ve never cut myself but still a small issue and the double clutch is annoying but you get used to it. I just wish they did a hollow grind on it and made it the same size as the Rendencion but I get why they sent with the size they did. I’m a Chaves fan for life now because of the Rendencion alone. Surprised not to see the 229 Ultramar in your most recent list (Dec 2020) of your all-time favorite folding knives, seeing as in your review of it you said it was the closest thing to Excalibur you had found next to your full ti XM-18. Of course, that was before you got the full ti scales for your Shaman and the new Demko.. Still thought it would crack your top 10 for sure.
Just got a 229 in full titanium from my wife and I absolutely freaking LOVE this thing. It’s got me wanting a scapegoat now and really looking forward to Chaves’ OTF that he’s working on.
I have a chaves liberation street flipper. The blade is still like that closed. So if your holding to much pressure on that lock side and your finger slips, it for sure gives you a little cut. Something they should try and improve. Especially for the flipper model. I think I would like the 229 better
I'm actually pretty middle of the road on the clip. I don't love it but I don't mind it. Always thought it was a good move because Ramon did his own thing but I'm a metal head, I'm used to skulls lol.
Biggest complaint is how sharp the corners on the handle are, where it's uncomfortable to hold, let alone use. That, and it's very easy to touch the blade when closed in back.
It is a " FLIPPER " as well. Try running your finger down the portion where a tab would be ... It will open as long as you are not on the lockbar. And you can get it to snap with NO wrist action. Transforms the knife to be honest.
just got mine today. its big. i feel the thumb stud is almost to close to pivot point , seems hard to open. its big, but feels light in your hand. super sharp. It's nice, looks great. now only issue is will I EDC it or keep it tucked away, thinking EDC

I have the Redencion with black micarta and it is one of my favorites. The thumb studs are sharp and you need to keep off the lock bar or it won't open. You get used to it. It's a beast with a great blade grind. I got mine from BHQ for less than $300. It's always sold out so I guess it doesn't matter that some don't like the skull clip.
I really like the Seigaiha pattern. I think that is UrbanEDC's thing, they have some other exclusives with that pattern. I have one of their Pena's with the same pattern. I really like this version. I only recently became aware of UrbanEDC on Instagram and missed out on that sexy beast.

Heart attack as in it's expensive? Ya I hear ya. A lot of the really good looking stuff is pretty pricey. I try to show less expensive knives fairly often to help balance this out
These reate made knives IMO have inconsistent detent. I have had about 6 chaves knives from both redencion to 229 and I have had knives that will thrash your thumb trying to open and knives that you barely touch to rocket out. Unfortunately my liberation 229 falls under the strong AF category.
I really hope they never change the clip, because I will not be able to resist at that point. Everything else is 100% my style. Thanks for the look MC

I have the all blacked out version of the Redencion and it doesn’t have the issue of the blade close to the back of the scale.
