Ooh, I was going to watch Oddity next. I really enjoyed Caveat. The Creep movies were good and original for the time. I am going to give the Night House a goo as well. Thank you guys for bringing back the movie reviews ☺️ p.s. bring back the warthog pls 🤞
One of the interesting things with suing/blaming Slayer is that the lead singer, Tom, is actually a devout Catholic. In interviews over the years, he’s stated his songs are just stories of fiction, like a movie, and obviously not meant to be taken seriously.
I had a guinea pig once when I was a young teen and I didn’t know that fact until years after he died. I still feel so bad I condemned him to a life of loneliness. 😢 They should really tell you these things at the pet store. RIP Alfred.
Poor girl, lying there in pain, dying slowly... none of them seem very bright, so I doubt that their life outside prison is going to turn out well. Thanks Mike and Keith!! Listening while working, in sunny Cape Town.
Thank you for the movie reviews, legit stopped this podcast to watch Calibre amd wa anit disappointed. I then came back and listened to this amazing episode, ty both!
I have Calibre first on my watch list! Guinea pig… I kinda get the pig part… especially because they eat them in Ecuador with a little grape in its mouth. They put it on the platter just like you would a regular pig.
It's almost 4 am and I woke up with a start. Here I am! I've seen some of those movies, and I have tabs open for the rest. The Night House and BOTH Creeps are so good! BTW: Satanists ARE Christians.
Let's not forget The Beatles' "Helter Skelter" and the 1974 Manson murders in California. I don't know if that was the first time a murderer chose to use a song to slide into complete mayhem, but it was certainly one of the most celebrated. A helter-skelter doesn't have any violent overtones, in and of itself. It's a British fair ride, a slide inside a tower.
Calibre (2018) is a pretty good movie. Stars Tony Curran who's always worth a watch as an actor. Not an overly huge horror fan, but for me, Dog Soldiers (2002) starring Sean Pertwee, Kevin McKidd, Emma Cleasby and Liam Cunningham is one of my all time favourites. Funny, well written & well done.🐺
@@ChrisLeonard-np7lh Yeah, perfect for the role. One of my favourite episodes of Who. (Think the only other actor that could've pulled of a convincing Vincent Van Gogh in his day was Lee Van Cleef). 🌻
@@ChrisLeonard-np7lh Never heard of the show. But had a look-see & it seems worth a watch. First thing I was aware of him in was Ultimate Force, a UK series about the exploits of the SAS. Tony played the part of a troubled & slightly short fused Scotsman - so no stereotyping there then. 😆He was one of the better actors though & it was a fun series. Think the US series, The Unit, was based on it.
I have a Keanu Reeves story, one that he really has no involvement in. I had to go to court over a decade ago and there was a motion against Reeves on the docket. Some lady from my town was suing him for child support for her 3 kids. I'm pretty sure it was thrown out, but it got a couple court dates. Reeves was never there, just a representative. He grew up in Toronto (and hour away), so I guess she thought she'd give it a shot lol
You may be glad to know, as I was, that Beck Hansen is no longer a Scientologist! He didn't make a big public deal of it, but apparently that is why his marriage broke up -- his wife still believes. Both of them were born into the group, to the point that Beck's future mother-in-law was even his mother's midwife at his birth. I hope he's doing all right! But he probably is, given leaving Scientology is preferable to staying in.
Also, just for sh*ts & gigs, you ought to Google "Jack Parsons JPL" and see how his eccentric life came into contact with both Aliester Crowley's and L.Ron Hubbard's. More people ought to know about that barking lunacy.
Just finished Oddity. Great flick. Lost hope for deadly horror flicks, but now I have faith. Sadly, I will be up all night watching all recommendations in this episode. Will blame TC for missing work tomorrow.
Guinea pigs are raised to be eaten in South America (no fact checking in the comments either please, I could have the wrong continent 🥴). You should always have at least 2 for the reason Keith stated… but make sure they are both the same sex or you’re going to have too many little piggies on your hands (personal experience). They are born with fur and teeth so they look like miniature adult piggies. Also River’s Edge was one of my favorite movies when I was in high school. My friends and I would quote it all the time too. However, finding out these ass hats did the same thing makes me wish we hadn’t.
The Catholic Church will excommunicate a priest for breaking the seal of confession under any circumstances. The Code of Canon Law states the seal is “inviolable” (can. 983.1), and if a priest were to break the seal (intentionally share the information), he would incur an automatic excommunication. Several countries/states have tried to pass laws unsuccessfully to amend this especially when it comes to sexual assault of minors.
Thanks guys. Love the Podcast. I have a show to suggest but it’s abit out there but it is “spooky”. It’s a show called the “The Hilarious House of Frightenstein”. I’m from Canada and it was very popular here. It was a weekly show in the ‘70’s that we watched before school. Vincent Price was in it at times. The amazing thing was that an actor named Billy Van played most of the characters. I know it’s not quite a horror of horrors but “give it a goo” just for fun.
