    "The pant's party", and the silent velcro technique... LOL Still love Arktis quality and gear, since they also make a lot of different "flavors"!

    I'm late to this party...just here to give you a heads up about the Velcro part...for those of you that never been in the army or in no other way you got to roll/crawl in sand-mud-snow...whenever those velcro patches are going to be covered in mud or wet snow,they will stop working...so you will find yourself having pockets that don't close. Because of that, and off course the ease of self-repair in the field,i prefer buttons...they just work and easy to do a self-repair whenever they broke on the field ,contrary to the velcro ripping off

    Very informative, thanks. Just bought them because I was looking for G3 style M90K.

    Great video and truly did highlight how arktis ranger trousers perform compared to crye precision I personally own 4 pairs in different patterns a bit more expensive in USD, but well worth the cost compare to how much crye or roman pairs run. I would suggest giving beyond clothing a look with their mission pants, for example, in USD their way more inexpensive than crye with the same durability.

    Very helpful content, thanks much for this. I am on the fence about these; I’m a huge Arktis fan but being 30 years older than you - though fit - not sure I can “pull off” the look of these. I would opt instead for Arktis C111 trousers which have no kneepad openings, but the “belt-less” velcro waist arrangement of that model (no belt loops) is not reviewed well, and I don’t care for it. What do?

    How did you manage to move the small pockets without seeing though the elastic cord? Hand sewn?
    Great review 👍

    • @magaz
      @magaz  Рік тому

      It was all done on the sewing machine, It’s been so long since I did it I can’t remember how without looking at them. I do recall that I moved the pockets as high as I could whilst keeping the eyelet for the cord inside the pocket. I think it was a case of just pulling the cord out of the way as the machine passed it.

    Hey, were the ankle pockets sewn "on top" of all the otehr seams, so it was possible to remove them without having to re sew any of the pant leg?
    Thinking about removing the ankle pockets myself too but I dont have a sewing machine if they are a "structural" part in some way.

    • @magaz
      @magaz  7 місяців тому +1

      All you need is a seam ripper and some patience. They are just sat on top of the leg, no crazy modification is necessary

    Great vid. How breathable are they? Quick drying?

    • @magaz
      @magaz  2 роки тому +1

      Initially they seemed to repel water a little. There must have been a water repellent wash on them, or something similar. after 20+ spins in the washer, they don't repel it quite as well. But when they do get wet while being worn, they dry off reasonably well. Especially in warm weather. I haven't trudged through a lake in them or soaked them through to the bone to do a proper test though. As for breathability, the stretch panels on these are a much more breathable fabric than the Crye's or any of the other Crye clones. It has a sort of pyjama pant feel to them, but a little more rugged. Let's plenty of cool air through. Especially in the crotch, which has a significantly larger stretch area than actual Cryes.

      Emerson gear advanced and blue label are up to spec with crye and almost just as good had a buddy run his emerson g3s for 6 years and there still holding up

    • @magaz
      @magaz  2 роки тому

      I've got some of what I believe is an earlier version of the Emerson G3's. (There's a video in this same series of them) They don't have any stretch panels though. (I have it on good authority that the blue label version does) While they are really good trousers, in a side by side comparison with my Crye trousers, they just aren't finished to the same standard and since making the video, after only light use, both of the waist cinches have snapped off. (Not an issue really, but something worth noting)

    I heard in an older review that the Crye g3 kneepads don't actually fit these, but this is a newer generation of the C222 so maybe they fit this time. Can you confirm?

    • @magaz
      @magaz  2 роки тому +2

      Can confirm the current gen of C222 trousers can hold Crye knee pads. I’m guessing you saw the older F9 review of them? I know in that one he mentions that the older gen trousers he had to hand didn’t fit crye knee pads. But the updated versions have an amended knee pad pocket that is much closer in size to Cryes. I posted an image on the community tab of this channel of a knee pad inserted. (Not an original from Crye, but an accurate clone)

    Are you satisfied with the central closure Velcro on C222 pant? Is it reliable? Does it unexpectedly open during certain movements like running, jumping, or crawling? Does the Velcro lose its gripping power over time, or does it remain as effective as the first day? Thank you.

    • @magaz
      @magaz  10 місяців тому +1

      I have found the velcro to be very strong and has never popped open. That being said, I wear the trousers with a belt which could be helping hold down the velcro.

      Someone in another comment said Velcro stops working when contaminated with sand, dirt, mud, snow. So flaps for pockets will not secure.

    I don’t get how to install Crye Airflex pads in them. Any suggestions?

    • @magaz
      @magaz  3 роки тому

      just pull out the original knee protection and slide the airflex pads in as you would into a pair of G3's. Are you trying it with a recent pair of C222's? I read in the review on the Full9 blog that the original C222 cut had a slightly different aperture for the kneepads, so Crye and Crye clone knee pads would not fit without modification.

    • @yu2673
      @yu2673 3 роки тому

      @@magaz Yeh, I removed original protection. Im talking about original Crye Airflex G3 pads. I've put them in but it looks like they fits just barely in knee pockets. Like I have to make a pair of cuts because of lack of aperture. I'll look for that Full9 blog, thanks.

      I did a ten mile hike in snow with these. Beneath them I wore some regatta thermals. They did really well. The only downside was the size of the crotch stretch panel meant the icy breeze made its way in and kept the love spuds frosty!
