It’s not consistent. We get 2 or 3 figures in a line with light piping then they drop the ball. Hotrod needed light piping. It would have made a near perfect figure flawless
That would've definitely made him a Commander class, he was already a Leader with his minimalistic, barely painted trailer and a proper set of trailer armor would be way more complicated in terms of part count and amounts of plastic and paint required. I'd buy it, but a lot of people might not.
Allow me a crazy idea: Revisit the mechanism of Combiner Wars Ultra Magnus. The 3rd party Core Magnus shows that we can still have the white Optimus figure that is in-scale, and the XT009 and mods have shown that the wrist, waist, and ankles just needed a bit more tweaking to be a perfect figure. There are those like myself who aren't a fan of the partsforming nature of the armor, so not only does CW's mechanism retain the mechanism of the original Powered Convoy trailer, it has a better vehicle mode, and keeps the articulation if the original CW's joints are improved. They reused Classics Starscream for Earthrise, why not this? I REALLY want to like Kingdom Ultra Magnus, since my G1 experience is a few episodes of S1 and 2, but mostly the movie, but it and Siege really aren't doing it for me.
@@reyonXIII that's what I really wish they'd done. A redo of the CW design but styled like the Kingdom figure and reworked to be the same height as Siege/Kingdom in robot mode would've been perfect and more cartoon accurate, which is supposed to be what they're going for (he never used the white Prime mode in the cartoon after all).

There’s a fan configuration that hides the arms in vehicle mode. Simply attach the arm gauntlets to his hands before attaching the trailer and you’re set! 🙂 There are video tutorials of it too!

I hate to be pessimistic, but I REALLY doubt we're ever going to get a Studio Series Ultra Magnus. The reason why is because the 86 stuff we got in SS were originally planned to be apart of War For Cybertron Part 3 before they decided to do Beast Wars, so they pushed those characters to the side to make room for the beasts

nice review! I wonder why no one that reviewed the siege Ultra Magnus, that it was an homage to the RID iteration of him. I really wish they would do an updated version of Omega Prime from RID.
They fixed his head articulation and gave him a ball joint instead of the very poor mechanism used in the Siege version. They fixed how the shoulder pieces tabbed into the robot, and they gave him a more G1 look. A definite pickup for me. I’m gonna try shaving off those bits on his back that restrict his waist swivel and see if gluing them to the front of the cab will work.
The legs on a G1 style Ultra Magnus toy are always going to be a bit problematic, simply because they tend to be used to make the bulk of his trailer in vehicle mode. Even the MP suffers a little from blocky legs, although they aren't anything like as bad as the mainline figures

My favorite : siege ultra magnus looks like a more serious and modern version of the original, also because it is small than the combiner wars one it feels more solid and compact, and the siege magnus can do the white optimus thing ( and that's something important in a figure of the character in my opinion).
I'd love to see Takara take either Siege or Kingdom Ultra Magnus and do exactly what they did with CW/LG14 Ultra Magnus: a fairly extensive retool as Super Ginrai. And later, make a compatible Godbomber for it to become God Ginrai. That said, we still need a Galaxy Force Sonic Bomber/Cybertron Wingsaber to make Sonic Convoy/Sonic Wing Mode with the Siege Galaxy Upgrade Optimus. Or at least a Deluxe or Voyager Ligerjack/Leobreaker for Liger Convoy/Savage Claw mode; at least that could potentially be repainted as a CHUG sized Lio Convoy/Leo Prime...

@PrimeVsPrime So when you transform the inner robot. To move the wheel base up his back easier, pull the body out from the track, like you would when turning it into truck mode.
I know other people have already mentioned this.. But the backpack issue with Magnus's core robot mode is easily fixed if you know what you're doing. All you need to do is slide the upper half of his torso forwards as though you were turning him into vehicle mode. Doing so unlocks the bumper piece and allows you to slide it up along the rail affixed to his spine, and then just pushing his torso back and locking everything in place. It's exactly like the Siege figure, and presumably the Cybertron Prime figure who shares the same mold and gimmicks. On a related note, I too am not a fan of E.R Magnus's vehicle mode. Not only does it look lazy & bland, but there are quite a few paint apps missing, such as the insignia you mentioned, and his vehicle mode's bumper is supposed to be red.
I don't know. Even though I'm not a fan of the Car Robots style for the cab of Siege Magnus, I don't really see a reason to buy him all over again. The Toyhax sticker set I bought for Siege Magnus really did improve the over all look of that toy, and I can't justify spending over 50 bucks USD just for a new windscreen.
Hey Prime vs Prime I'm really hoping they can make a Transformers Kingdom Astrotrain to be a more clean looking Astrotrain based on his cartoon appearance.
In short, the vehicle mode and its transformation is quite weak in engineering (being a copy and paste of its Siege predecessor). But it looks pretty good in robot mode, so it would be advisable to leave it on the shelf in that mode.
Don't apologize for showing a figure in a negative light, that's your opinion. I came here to see if I wanted to get this and after watching, I think I'll keep my Siege UM as my main display version. Thanks
Something about this just feels....off. I agree with you that they could've left out the Albino-Prime gimmick. That at least would've given it a cleaner result. Maybe retool the Combiner Wars mold and give it better articulation?
for my siege magnus I've found that it's easier to get the white-optimus backpack up if I slide the truck cab forward as if I'm about to transform him into vehicle
I’m on the fence with getting this, I already have the siege version and I’m not sure if I want to get the kingdom one as, he’s not one of my favorite characters so I’m not sure on double dipping
Just to double check, are the War for cybertron trilogy, war for cybertron siege, and kingdom all the same sculpt just with slightly different colors? Been Ages since I looked at Transformers stuff but been feeling nostalgic so I wanted to buy something from G1/G2
I know with the Siege version of the White Prime, his upper torso cannot be locked into place to move the butt piece up to his back. You have to pull his torso forward to pull it up.
Could you bring the trailer a bit further or is there something stopping the trailer ? So it can at least look similar to the Ultra Magnus vehicle mode.

I have been looking for Magnus for 2 months now and have yet to find him.
Wait a minute, Springer doesn't have an Earth alt mode does he???
I personally don’t mind the battle damage for the Siege figures
Same, I mean they were in an actual war lol. I mean it’s crazy, Autobots and Decepticons fighting? Lol
That truck+trailer mode is a huge step back from siege
In short, the vehicle mode and its transformation is quite weak in engineering (being a copy and paste of its Siege predecessor). But it looks pretty good in robot mode, so it would be advisable to leave it on the shelf in that mode.
Yeah I agree
Don't apologize for showing a figure in a negative light, that's your opinion. I came here to see if I wanted to get this and after watching, I think I'll keep my Siege UM as my main display version. Thanks
Why not buy the DNA Design Upgrade Kit for Siege Ultra Magnus?
Something about this just feels....off.
I agree with you that they could've left out the Albino-Prime gimmick. That at least would've given it a cleaner result. Maybe retool the Combiner Wars mold and give it better articulation?
Why would you get rid of a gimmick that was present on the original G1 figure?
@@matthewmiddagh722 Because it’s unnecessary.
@@trueassassin1562 If you don't like the gimmick just buy the masterpiece version that doesn't have it instead.
We all need to agree that PrimeVsPrime puts these figures into great poses, like that "Death of Optimus Prime" scene.
And yet he somehow forgot to stick Titans Return Perceptor in there for his infamous line...
honestly my only gripe with this guy atm is that they didn’t retool the legs and that his hands still stick out, but otherwise? absolute banger
Agreed .
Also there was the triple dip of the spoiler pack version .
Who’s your favorite autobot and decepticon
Mine is transformers prime ratchet and g1 soundwave
I think springer never scanned a earth base vehicle, did he?
I meant more 86 accurate but it came out wrong lol
for my siege magnus I've found that it's easier to get the white-optimus backpack up if I slide the truck cab forward as if I'm about to transform him into vehicle
Excellent video, as usual. Thanks!
Thank you :)
I’m on the fence with getting this, I already have the siege version and I’m not sure if I want to get the kingdom one as, he’s not one of my favorite characters so I’m not sure on double dipping
I agree wholeheartedly with your critiques PVP (especially about the legs), and if I didn't already own the Siege version, I'd be all-in on this one.
Just to double check, are the War for cybertron trilogy, war for cybertron siege, and kingdom all the same sculpt just with slightly different colors? Been Ages since I looked at Transformers stuff but been feeling nostalgic so I wanted to buy something from G1/G2
What Stores Already Have these Out?
I know with the Siege version of the White Prime, his upper torso cannot be locked into place to move the butt piece up to his back. You have to pull his torso forward to pull it up.
Could you bring the trailer a bit further or is there something stopping the trailer ? So it can at least look similar to the Ultra Magnus vehicle mode.
10:28 you forgot to push the upper body forward (in doing so it prevented you from pulling the bumper of the cab up
Great review PrimeVsPrime!!!!!! :D I hope we get a God Ginrai retool from this mold. :D Keep on being amazing, Double Thumbs Up. ;D
Ultra Magnus more like ultra thicnus. Good review I had to make a joke of him
Magnus has always been a thicc boi. Maybe the only exception is TFP Beast Hunters, which is just a nice retool of Optimus (and really owns the mold).
New autobot unlock! *ULTRA THICCNUS*
