Six years ago, I made a video celebrating 30 year of the original Mega Man. It's great to come back and remember 30 years of Mega Man X! The game came out in December, but I am going to be pretty busy that time of year, so why not celebrate early? Come back in December and bring a friend to celebrate again!
@@GTV-Japan Usually I'd agree, but this year we get the Super Mario RPG remake, a new 2D Mario AND a new 2D Sonic. This is the best year in gaming for me personally since... I don't know, a long time lol. Final Fantasy 16 looks good too despite ditching its turn-based roots (it's making SJW journalists seethe for daring to feature white characters so it's at least got that going for it at least 😂)

Ikr, they coulda at least slapped some new HD animation to the game, or some ark systems style 3d cell shading. Instead of giving us a compilation of some stuff they just dusted off & threw together...
At least Mega Man as a whole is doing better than it has in the last decade. Sure, Mega Man X specifically hasn't had that much attention, but it's already been confirmed that a new Mega Man title is in the works (likely to be the rumored/leaked Mega Man Match). Don't get me wrong, I also wish the series got more love by Capcom, but I'm almost certain that the company still has plans for the Blue Bomber. We just got the BN Legacy Collection after all. We just need to be patient
Beautiful celebration video of one of the most impactful video game series of all time! To me, Mega Max X is one of the most important games in my life, and it's great to see people celebrating it in this fashion. Hopefully one day we'll see its return with a new real entry in the series.
I might be known as the Metroid guy but growing up I played every Mega Man game I could. There was a moment in history where I could proudly proclaim I had beaten every Mega Man game released in the US, but they had to keep making more of them! That Rockman CM was amazing as well, I never got to see that. Seeing the destruction of the city in his heart and seeing his determination for justice was amazing. Thank you again for another awesome video!
I love how when he was talking about Rock being upgraded to MegaMan, he called him the Super Fighting Robot, a great callback to one of my favorite cartoons
I wouldn't say Megaman was the last to go 16bit, considering that Kirby was a very latecomer to the 8bit party who started on the Gameboy; his mainline series didn't go 16bit until Dreamland 3 on Snes in 1997...unless you consider Superstar a mainline entry, but even that came out after the first Rockman X/Megaman X. As for Kirby's Dreamland 3...by 97, the Blue Bomber had already been doing 32bit for awhile with Rockman 8 & X4 on both PSone & Saturn (as part of the Rockman 10th Anniversary), with Japan-only PSone & Saturn ports of Rockman X3 beforehand.
You know I could've sworn several years back there was a car commercial (I think Audi; I know it started with an A) which as a car was making a turn in the dirt it used the music from the MegaMan X3 password screen!
Gotta be 100% honest with the channel maker. These are extremely high quality and thorough. I think what is holding this channel back is the title of the channel. Japan gives a vibe that it isnt intended for anyone outside of japan. I know i felt this way when i first stumbled upon this channel.
LI don’t know what else to call it. I should’ve had a plan for a better name where I could have “the-ed” something but I didn’t. Oh well. GTV is pretty short and easy to search but there are many GTVs around the world it seems.
8:55 those are mechaniloids, not Reploids. I'm sure you knew this, but it was jarring enough I had to mention this. This is a great video though, super informative and very entertaining. I love that you included the old commercials.
Sigh I just wished Capcom visited it's 16-bit era self and release another X sequel but in 16-bit with it's gorgeous music. The music alone was amazing.
Capcom doesn't care. It's output was criticized back then for endless identical sequels milking as much money from people as possible. Nothings changed I doubt they have the same emotional attachment to them as you they just had the talent to make something half decent on autopilot
@@GTV-Japan dont feel bad, megaman lore starts getting very convoluted around the 2000s when they over-saturated the market with the games. most people who arent massively into the series have no clue what in the world is going on with the Z/ZX era
This game has never getting old, not a single ride. Everytime, I always come back to play it to destroy the 8 Mavericks and collect all the stuffs in it.
At 3:44, Inafune didn't lead Mega Man 3, it was someone named Masahiko Kurokawa. He and the original team members did not agree on different parts of the game, which I'm assuming is why he did not return to direct 4. The information of the team disagreeing with Kurokawa is in the Mega Man Complete Works book (Page 40 if anyone's curious), however, it does not mention his name in the quote. There is another quote where Inafune says he worked on everything they were running out of time on in the same page, though. Overall this is a good video! Keep up the good work, man.
Thanks. Maybe the history is not clear but it seems to be a case of history written by the victors. I had a line where I call Inafune “the stepfather of Megaman” but I thought it might be insensitive to anyone with remarried parents in real life.
Everytime you release a video I legit get emotional halfway watching. The subject matter you always talk about is so close to my heart and your production values and general tone of your narration is downright comforting. Thank you so much for all you do
You’re welcome! I appreciate that. Know that whatever the topic, it will always and only be about things I care about and know well. I’ll never fake it just to make a video or get views 🍺
I was a Genesis kid during the console wars. But a friend had a SNES and we stayed up late playing this game until we beat it. This was one of the few games back then when that made me wish I had this system. I loved Sigma’s dog. Great game.
Inafune was not the lead developer behind Mega Man X it was Yoshinori Takenaka (Dr. Kun) with the famous Professor F Tomuro Fujiwara as producer. Inafune was definitely involved with the art and look of the game and because of the way Capcom made games back then Inafune was part of the decisions but he wasn't the lead. Heck it wasn't until Megaman X5 and later Zero where he had more creative input and with Zero the development work was done by IntiCreares. Inafune did create the design for Zero but was considered by Fujiwara as looking too different from Megaman and another design done by someone else was chosen for the main role of X. I believe the backstory was done by Takenaka who was later involved with X4 as producer.
@@GTV-Japan There is nothing from Capcom about Rockman X. No anime, no new game, no movie made in collaboration with DreamWorks (The only candidate that didn't go crazy). The entire Rockman X 30th anniversary is destroyed by Capcom itself
Loved this game when it dropped, and still love it today. Every now and then I'll just blow through it in a day for the heck of it, always 100%, because that Hadoken cannot be beat.
I still remember reading Gamepro and after playing the first 3 Mega Man games and seeing 4-6 I was mostly turned off by this. But after a few years and getting a chance to play the legacy collection. It is indeed a good series
I can understand that. It was just a strange time where the whole industry was trying things and not really knowing where to go but it turned out great
Is nobody going to mention how heavily inspired the Megaman X series is by Casshan? The whole sentient robots causing a rebellion and trying to conquer humanity, is what happened in Casshan in the 1970s and Inafume himself admitted to having seen the series as well. If you look at how Megaman X himself gets white accents for his armor, and even gets like a golden V on his helmet like Casshan himself does, is powered by solar energy the same as Casshan and by X8 gets the whole facemask thing, you just can't tell me that all of that is just coincidence. Also Sigma is basically Braiking Boss (ブライキング・ボス, Buraikingu Bosu) they have similar designs, had same core beliefs where robots were superior to humans, and if you look at Megaman X Dive Gangster Sigma thats basically the spitting image of Braiking Boss with even the hat included.
One of my top 10 games of all time. MMX blows my mind still to this day how good it is and replayable. Unfortunately the series dipped pretty hard after 4 in my opinion, but it's okay, I think with the right team, X can see a 9th game that'll blow the water out of the bad ones. If anything, I hope they pull a MM9 and go back to the SNES retro style. Excellent video 👍 love your retrospectives
I'm not a scientist either but respawning enemies they have to use because of the crap way the energy tanks work is just one example of why it's not perfect. There's too much micromanaging for it to be a pure gameplay experience
Mega Man X is such a legendary 2D action series. The challenging action, vibrant anime graphics, intense music, etc. make it one of the best video game series ever in my opinion. I know things went downhill after X4, but I'm still hoping for X9 in the future 🤞
You always make wonderful tributes to all my favorite series, nice to see Mega Man X getting the treatment. Back in the early 90s I was obsessed with the original series (I basically memorized every new issue of Nintendo Power, especially when they covered Mega Man) and when X hit the scene I was still stuck on my NES. Thankfully my neighbor had the same Mega passion I did but far less frugal parents so as soon as it was released our weekends were devoted to X full time. Always loved our childhood tradition of getting the whole gang together, all three of us, and passing the controller back and forth til we got to the end.
I think it's just americans and the importance of the series on the NES because Super Play magazine never included it in their top 100 SNES games. Said it was impressive until Super Metroid came along which absolutely destroys this let's be honest
Fantastic retrospective my man, thanks for putting it together! Always love the interstitial ads too - they're the only ones I'll willingly sit through. 😄
I have a complicated relationship with the X series. The first four games were awesome, especially X4. X5 was alright but X6-7 were pure hell to play. X8 was fine but had some elements that I really didn't like. (and that cliffhanger!) It's a series with varying degrees of quality but I can't help but love it anyway. Great video!
@@GTV-Japan It’s interesting that it took until X7 for the series to transition to 3D. X4-6 I think stand to benefit from the 2D look. Arguably has some of the best spritework of the 32-but era (I vibe with the dated CGI too) and aged way better than some other games at the time and even today.
Mega Man X is definitely my favorite Mega Man game period. Was kinda hoping they'd make a Mega Man X9 in the same vein as Mega Man 9 and 10. Guess that could still happen eventually.
Damn do I miss this series. Growing up in the 90s would have been so cool. Getting to experience the Megaman series evolve and well....actually existing first hand. The video games that we're capable of developing today are incredible, but nothing was like gaming back then. I feel like games nowadays miss personality and creativity. Megaman X was such a simple game, yet so complex. Game devs cared so much more about making games fun than to make them realistic, hire famous actors, or push some kind of social agenda because "viDeo GamEs cAn hAvE goOd StorY telLinG". Yeah they can, the story telling is the gameplay. If you can't build a world and express some kind of story and message purely through the gameplay then you're treating your audience like they are stupid. We don't need 30 minute cutscenes every new room we enter that tells you what is happening and how to play the game. Now obviously these old games lacked the memory capacity and technical capability of including lengthy stories and realistic graphics- so the hardware was literally the reason game devs had to get creative with how they wanted to present their games. But I find that beautiful. I think game devs nowadays should practice this development process sometimes. Who gives a shit about how far technology has come and how far you can push a video game's specs and performance. Sometimes we just need a good 'ol game that is simple as fuck but so incredibly easy to pick up, immediately start having fun, and doesn't need to hold your hand and tell you that you are playing a video game. A game that mesmerizes anyone who picks it up, even if they don't have any clue what they are playing, and will be beloved for generations to come because it was so damn good at doing what it needed to do. Games like that are rare these days. We don't need games to be movies, we need video games to be video games. And Megaman X is one of the greatest examples of a "video GAME".
I did grow up then and these games were slated to hell as were Capcom themselves. Super Play magazine never included any of them in their top 100 SNES games and while I disagree with that it's not top ten material
MMX was the best thing ever back in the day. I remember renting/playing it for the first time and completely blown away. Discovering the armor upgrades and heart tanks by myself was even better. THEN finding out that beating certain stages affected others? Holy crap, that'd never happened in a mega man game before. I've recently done a complete blue bomber play through, classic series (plus gb games) and X series (and gbc games). I have videos of my MMX4 zero playthrough on my channel if anyone needs a shot of nostalgia or whatever.
From all the Mega Man games I've played, I consider Mega Man X and X4 the most memorable in the series. Aside from the X games, Mega Man 7 and Legends are great as well.
The thing about X4 is that it was the first true next generation Mega Man X game, so Capcom put a lot of effort, great cutscenes and an amazing gameplay with Zero. We played the Japanese version on the Saturn back in 1997. Some tracks sound great, giving it more personality. Capcom's problem is that they pushed way too many sequels in a short time, no way any series can keep quality like this, and they kinda still does that today.
I loved the added depth X brought to the franchise. The atmosphere was darker, the stakes were higher. It was like a playable anime. And the soundtracks are rockin'! Truly fitting the Rockman name (heh).
If they haven't even given us Mega Man 12 or even MM11 DLC despite how well it sold then I don't see us getting MMX9 any time soon, unfortunately. Considering how well Mega Man Battle Network Collection sold I'd assume we may get a new BN game if anything. Or they'll just pump out ZX and Legends collections to make more easy money and make nothing new lol...
Thank you so much for making this! I gotta say as a person who got into Megaman with the Anniversary Collection, I like X series more for its serious storytelling and themes, Megaman Classic is lighthearted which is fine and I don’t mind those those games too but every now and then I find myself randomly going back to play the X series more than Classic. I loved your pun at the end too, here’s another one, X being called X is brilliant because X is a variable that can be anything which lines up well with him being a reploid who’s able to think, feel and make decisions on his own, X is also the Adam and Eve of all Repolids if think about it, X needed to be asleep for 30 years of testing right? Since it’s been 30 years from 1993 do you think he would awaken on his own or would somebody need to discovered him in our current year 2023?
I think he was underground over 30 years. Just that he needed 30 years of tests. Dr. Cain’s computer was made in at least 2114. It also has 8192 terabytes of ram!
X4 was not a Playstation exclusive. X4 had a Saturn port. Also, X3 had an optical disk version (PS/Saturn) with an opening FMV and FMV boss intros. You also neglected to mention the RPG Command Mission. Finally, the Megaman series, not just the X series, only ended because Capcom got rid of Keiji Inafune and blacklisted his pet projects.
Yeah I never said x4 was only on PlayStation. Everyone seems to think that. Only that by the end it had moved there. Yeah I’ll get to the end of the story as the next few videos come down the line. Thanks for watching!
When you said: "Mega Man X is 30" in the intro, it reminded me of how old I am. I can't believe Mega Man X is 30 years old. I'm a big fan of the first Mega Man game on the NES. I liked all of the other games on the series, but the first one was special to me. Exactly the same thing happened with X. After years of playing the same game with new levels, X revolutionized the Mega Man world. The games that followed it were good, but to me none had the impact of the first one. I was firmly on the Sega side during The Great Console War, but I did very frequently borrow a friend's SNES to play Street Fighter II, Final Fight and Mega Man X. Eventually we got Streets of Rage II and SF2 Special Champion Edition, which were better than their SNES equivalents, but we never had anything comparable to X. Thank you very much for another excellent video.
Thanks I’m glad you came by one day one! I think the series went astray, as every series does but the first one was like an earthquake in my memory and the first 4 are great.
@@GTV-Japan I remember reading on Club Nintendo how you could find Dr. Light and get the hadoken as a weapon. It blew my mind. That was some A grade level Easter egg. What a great game.
@@GTV-Japan Back in the day, once we were able to get the hadoken, we started searching all over the game for the shoryuken or tatsumaki. I'm almost sure those other moves became fake Easter eggs at the time.
Fun fact: According to the dev diary, Keiji Inafune could not think of anything new for the game, so he kicked a wall out of anger. While not 100% confirmed, the way it has been worded in said dairy makes one think that this is what would eventually become the wall jumping mechanic
@@GTV-Japan do you see a Megaman movie? It could've been an awesome gaming big three of Mario, Sonic and Megaman. Funny thing about Sonic, Sega never let him die even after a bunch of shit games and other way more successful ips. The love for Sonic is real. Once Capcom caught fire with Monster Hunter, Megaman was gone. Shit really hurts because I loved Megaman Legends. And imagine a 2D megaman game the same style of Shredder's Revenge. Probably never see it😢
Great video as usual. I started writing this comment about 5 minutes before the end of the video, and was going to bring up the fact that a lot of people thought that X was supposed to mean the number 10 (myself included, as a lil 6 year old), but you actually brought that up yourself. As a Mega Man lore nerd (there are at least a dozen of us!), I also wanted to add that the reason Dr. Light named him "X" was because of his unlimited potential (Free-will, armor upgrades, etc). It was supposed to represent a variable, like algebra-style. X was also given the same "Variable Weapons System" as the original Mega Man, granting him the ability to use other Robot Masters'/Mavericks' weapons. It's also commonly thought that Zero was responsible for the destruction of the original Mega Man and the other Robot Masters, but this was started by early internet rumors and none of the games or supplemental material actually mention exactly what happened to the original characters (not yet, anyway). Lastly, despite being a different subseries, the Mega Man Legends games are confirmed canon in the regular timeline. MM->MMX->MMZ->MMZX ---?--->Legends (It was never explicitly stated how much time had passed before the events of Legends). Just a cool factoid I wanted to add. Unfortunately we never got the proper conclusions to any of these series, except for the Zero series with Mega Man Zero 4.
Thanks for leaving your thoughts! I like the concept of Legends. In a way it reminds me of the civilization in The Time Machine. A new world built ontop of an older one. And I think it’s cool that “mega man” can get upgraded over and over like real technology because that’s what he is! Yeah X as a variable. I couldn’t find anything in writing but one time I called Nintendo about the game and the person on the other end said “you could play as either Megaman X or Y” so maybe that was zero’s original name or he was just making stuff up. Haha
@@GTV-Japan Gotta say, that is the first time I've heard of this Y character. I guess back then they could just make stuff up with no consequences. Probably tired of kids calling in and trying to give game ideas, lol
Adding to this, the only other Megaman series that had a proper conclusion is the Battle Network saga. You could also count the Starforce series (BN sucessor, happening 100 years after BN) but while it had a great ending on the 3rd game, it wasn't completly "conclusive"
@@samuelromero4696 Great points. Yeah Star Force 3 had a pretty good ending, it was satisfying enough but still had some unanswered questions unfortunately. Hey who knows, maybe we will get a SF4 some day, lol
Well actually there never says that Zero and ZX events was in 22XX and 25XX, there just says 100 years after Elf Wars, when X Dive came out, Capcom says that X series events were few hundread years, maybe 200 or even 300 years.
While I personally prefer the 8 bit games, I cannot deny the appeal of Megaman X Incredible game with a great soundtrack. And those Megaman Xtreme games... god I love that stuff.
I grew up playing the PC version, it came with a controller! There are a couple of important differences in the PC version. Most notably is that there are no ride armors. Not sure why. The breakable ceiling in Flame Mammoth's stage is lower and easier to get to. Also, the ceiling in most boss chambers is just gone, so you can stick yourself in the corner and never get hit.
Ok I'll put it another way. If there was 100 of something I'd expect the best one to be a masterpiece and I don't think this is. I think it's a good game but no better than Sparkster or Skyblazer really
8:52 those aren’t reploids, reploids are the more advanced, humanoid robots. thise are mechaniloids (i think that’s how it’s spelled), which are essentially non-sentient tools. they can still be hacked by sigma, they’re just not sentient.
This was a wonderful video retrospective. Crazy its been almost 30 years since this series began! I appreciate you using all thr Japanese commecials to show a different look ot X and Zero we didnt get in the states
21:20 Uhhh... Zero is not the ZX protagonist, he already died in Zero4, the protagonists of these ones are avatars that take on past reploids (Vent and Aile being the actual protagonists), this is such a huge blunder on a well researched video :(
6:15 I wonder if that was Sigma's fortress coming down? 15:08 Also, it's the very first time the main character, in this franchise to actually talk in game. Every time you use the input for the move, X says, "Hadouken!" every time. X was never given a voice in game until X4, but only after Megaman 8 was released when we hear Megaman talk in game. After X4 it won't be until X 7 that X was given a voice again outside of cutscenes. 21:24 Now, it's not really Zero. However, the spirit of Zero Lives on through the use of items called "Biometals". Each one contains the "DNA Soul" of those who fought in the Elf Wars all the way up to the events of MegaMan Zero 4. You play as 2 new heroes, Vent or Aile, in order stop Serpent from taking over the world. Overall, it's been a couple of years since X actually had a new entry. Sure Capcom released collections for all 4 versions related to the Blue Bomber, but it's paramount that X 9 needs to come out. Megaman Legends need to finish the story with 3 and with record profits coming from Resident Evil and Street Fighter as an example, they just need to give the green light and just make these games. X Dive Offline can only hold the interests of the fans for so long.
Fantastic video! It's such a good game, even if the sequels weren't as good, especially after X3. Classic Mega Man is more consistent in quality, but I think MMX1 is the best overall platformer in the franchise. Battles Network is my favorite though, maybe you'll do a video on it?
@@GTV-Japan Ah, Zero is so good but SO difficult. Can't wait to see your Zero video! Thank you very much for your quality content. As for Battle Network, if possible I'd suggest the Battle Network Collection, it has some quality of life improvements a busy adult such as yourself would appreciate for an RPG. It still holds up decades later though no matter how you play it.
Personally I feel both Super Ghouls and Ghosts and SNES Aladdin are still better platformers. Less faffing more gameplay. The magical quest games and Demons crest are also hindered by endlessly having to switch things sometimes several times just on one screen
I haven't even gotten 10 secs in before I had to smash the like button and comment. My favorite arm of the Megaman franchise covered by my favorite gaming history channel?! Are you kidding me! Hell yes
While no related to megaman x. The development of megaman 2 was made while the devs worked on Pro Yakyuu? Satsujin Jiken! And also bubbleman was planned to appeared in megaman 1 along side oil man and bond man. But sadly bubbleman was replaced with iceman in final game

Capcom doesn't care. It's output was criticized back then for endless identical sequels milking as much money from people as possible. Nothings changed I doubt they have the same emotional attachment to them as you they just had the talent to make something half decent on autopilot
Zero isn’t a playable character in ZX, you play as the “Mega Men’ in that series, with the first game with Vent and Aile and in advent Grey and Ashe.
Yeah but there’s like a download of zero or something. It’s confusing. Thanks for the correction
@@GTV-Japan dont feel bad, megaman lore starts getting very convoluted around the 2000s when they over-saturated the market with the games. most people who arent massively into the series have no clue what in the world is going on with the Z/ZX era
Your documentaries are always so professionally put together. Excellent stuff.
Thanks friend! I cut a lot of stuff out so I will probably reuse it to tell the story of Zero later on! Have a great weekend 🍺

@ColeFam Fancy meeting you here!
This game has never getting old, not a single ride. Everytime, I always come back to play it to destroy the 8 Mavericks and collect all the stuffs in it.
Every time. I'm doin it right now again!!
@@GTV-Japan That's fair. Either way, I enjoyed the video. Have a good day!

Yeah!! I’d love that! Just copy klonoa! Or nights!!
That already happened. Mega Man Maverick Hunter X for the PSP.
A masterpiece that should be remade in 2.5D available only on a portable Sony console, never to be re-released again in any official capacity
It was in an ultimately failed attempt to rerelease the entire X series with updated graphics and voice acting.
Great game.
I think everyone had that crossover game they wanted. I can imagine this was one of them!
Now of they could remake Mega Man Legends 1 and 2. Remake the spin off of those games as well. If possible then make Mega Man Legends 3.
This game blew my mind when it came out wow such a classic.
Oh! Well he sure likes to take credit then

I still remember reading Gamepro and after playing the first 3 Mega Man games and seeing 4-6 I was mostly turned off by this. But after a few years and getting a chance to play the legacy collection. It is indeed a good series
I can understand that. It was just a strange time where the whole industry was trying things and not really knowing where to go but it turned out great
Beautiful game with so much action, ultra tight controls and amazing music.
The original draft was long enough for an hour video. So certainly I’ll come back and finish the rest and include that!
Honestly never heard of it.
I love that this video starts with the best song in the whole X franchise: the MMX 1 password screen music
How else can you star the game? Thanks for watching
Megaman X was a genuine masterpiece of gaming , the music , the graphics and the DASH... with all the hidden goodies...
As always, great video friend. Mega Man X was and is one of my favourite SNES games. Glad to see it get the GTV treatment.
Hey thanks! It’s been a good day to celebrate early! Have a great weekend 🍺
Same here! Maybe someday we will see X9
Agreed. One of the greatest high replay value games ever. After X4, that's kinda IT for me too
Megaman X is one of my top favorite games ever made, everything is as close to perfection as it can be. But I don't know, I'm not a scientist.
But who is Mr. X? Take a wild guess!
@@GTV-Japan Mega Man's wife
Boll?
I'm not a scientist either but respawning enemies they have to use because of the crap way the energy tanks work is just one example of why it's not perfect. There's too much micromanaging for it to be a pure gameplay experience
Mega Man X is such a legendary 2D action series. The challenging action, vibrant anime graphics, intense music, etc. make it one of the best video game series ever in my opinion. I know things went downhill after X4, but I'm still hoping for X9 in the future 🤞
X4 was the best!!

@@GTV-Japan I mean sure but X5 needs some love too.

Hey long time no see friend! Glad you made it back! The NP issue with MMX on the cover was one for the ages!
Thanks so much for your support! I love the fake commercial breaks. I take a long time thinking about them too!
Great job, GTV! This is the definitive Mega Man X documentary!
Avenger! Long time no see! Thanks for the “support”. Take care and see you around
Cheers friend! 4 is my favorite. 2 and 3 are probably the best. Even the later ones beat whatever else was out the time, mostly
I know! The last holdout!
Not sure anyone would expect any other game to be good on it's seventh sequel
Another GTV Japan vid, another good day
Mega Man X is definitely my favorite Mega Man game period. Was kinda hoping they'd make a Mega Man X9 in the same vein as Mega Man 9 and 10. Guess that could still happen eventually.
Maybe someday!
Great work! I love the X series, so thanks for putting this together.
You’re welcome!
Another quality video! Well researched and fantastic presentation. I'm amazed you don't have a million subscribers yet!
Thanks! I don’t know why either but I’ll keep going till I get there!
I love x4! Maybe just the moment more than the game but all good
The thing about X4 is that it was the first true next generation Mega Man X game, so Capcom put a lot of effort, great cutscenes and an amazing gameplay with Zero. We played the Japanese version on the Saturn back in 1997. Some tracks sound great, giving it more personality. Capcom's problem is that they pushed way too many sequels in a short time, no way any series can keep quality like this, and they kinda still does that today.
Original Megaman X is one of my favs of all time. still own the copy I got for my birthday all those years ago.
Woo! Hang on to it
Me too

Still waiting for Mega Man X9...
Wish in one hand….
Keep waiting.
I loved the added depth X brought to the franchise. The atmosphere was darker, the stakes were higher. It was like a playable anime. And the soundtracks are rockin'! Truly fitting the Rockman name (heh).
Yeah! It’s just what the doctor ordered! No pun intended
The added anime cutscene in the remake really accentuate that anime feel it has.
I honestly never really saw the X series as all that serious and mature, but rather edgy and _extreeeeeme_ like a lot of other 90s fictional media.
Yeah ok I’ll give ya that. Both aren’t kiddie. But boy did I hate the word extreme in the late 90s. It was everywhere
The classic series is unironically more mature than the X series.
Yeah, I'd say the Zero series is much more deserving of the descriptions "serious" and "mature".
I’ll be getting to that in the near future
A lot of people really misuse and misappropriate the term "edgy". Including you.
Mega Man X is what made me the Gamer I am today. *_Happy 30th Anniversary!!_*
Thanks for the Memories!❤
All right!!
Awesome Video! We need Megaman X9, and Capcom can reuse the Megaman 11 engine. MM X8 was a weird 3D sidestep.
Good point!
Megaman is pure cheese. I can't take it seriously. I don't care about the story or characters. It would be better to poke fun at itself
Had anyone ever made Mega Man XXX?
I don’t know. I’m not a scientist! Check rule 34.
:(
X4 was not a Playstation exclusive.

Dude, this is my favorite Mega Man game. Thank you for this!
You got it!

Fun fact: According to the dev diary, Keiji Inafune could not think of anything new for the game, so he kicked a wall out of anger. While not 100% confirmed, the way it has been worded in said dairy makes one think that this is what would eventually become the wall jumping mechanic
Shocking if true.....
Megaman should be up there with sonic and mario. It's so heartbreaking

@@themoststupidpersonwhoever4891 wtf ur talking about? With a good game megaman could easily move units. It's just Capcom have other priorities.
Maybe. We will never know! Does make sense in a way more than x and zero.
Oh yeah. That’s right. I was just counting!
Oh, that just makes things murky!
While I personally prefer the 8 bit games, I cannot deny the appeal of Megaman X
Incredible game with a great soundtrack.
And those Megaman Xtreme games... god I love that stuff.
It’s pretty neat the x series did it’s own “split” style games on gameboy like the original did
I grew up playing the PC version, it came with a controller!
Neat! I’d love to see that controller! There was also a CG controller with a red jewel in it like his helmet. Talk about a hidden gem!!
@@GTV-Japan I don't have it anymore, but the controller is called the PC Fighter 6
That’s cool! I don’t know everything that happened on PCs but it looks like you could have played everything with that. Like sf2!

Zero is not the ZX protagonist, he already died in Zero4, the protagonists of these ones are avatars that take on past reploids (Vent and Aile being the actual protagonists), this is such a huge blunder on a well researched video :(
Oops. Should have said “the hero”. What was I thinking? I must have had a double kaluha before recording.
Mega Man X and Final Fantasy VII screwed with me when they were first released.
Happy 30th Anniversary to Mega Man X!
I wanted to use the sound effect of him saying hadouken but it wasn’t very clear. Certainly cool at the time though! Thanks for watching
Fantastic video! It's such a good game, even if the sequels weren't as good, especially after X3. Classic Mega Man is more consistent in quality, but I think MMX1 is the best overall platformer in the franchise. Battles Network is my favorite though, maybe you'll do a video on it?
Zero will be next! Battle network I’d have to sit down and play a lot first
@@GTV-Japan Ah, Zero is so good but SO difficult.

Cmon Capcom. Everyone gets revivals and reboots. The time is right for Megaman X9. Finish Axl's arc while reintroducing the series.
16 bit Mega Man X was epic!!!
Was? Still is, my friend. 😊
Even the remake is epic, the cutscene were AWESOME.
I wonder how many people thought it was MegaMan "ten" rather than "ex"! It was actually Mega's 11th game (six NES's + four GB's up to that point)
There is a conversation further down where there was speculation in game magazines about that because if you count nes and gameboy X is the 10th game!
@@GTV-Japan Yeah they needed to count again.
in some regions there hadn’t been Megaman 6 on nes or V on gameboy. Still it’s funny regardless
@@GTV-Japan It was in Jeff Rovin's book so he was counting the US releases. Though he goofs and says X is who helps our guy...no that would be Zero.
Ahhh I see!
Perfect listening for finishing the grind this Friday 🤘
Great! Thanks for the support as always! I’ll keep making bangers till I drop!
I thought the Gameboy game MegaMan V was the fifth game in the series not knowing that the Gameboy had its own MegaMan series
🌵!! It’s weird how the NES games had to on numerals on the title screen but not the box!
While no related to megaman x. The development of megaman 2 was made while the devs worked on Pro Yakyuu? Satsujin Jiken! And also bubbleman was planned to appeared in megaman 1 along side oil man and bond man. But sadly bubbleman was replaced with iceman in final game
Yeah I’ve heard that!
GTV: MegaMan Negative One
Capcom: WRITE THAT DOWN, WRITE THAT DOWN!!!
