    You probably DID get that heart tank the way you think, but my guess is you destroyed the tank right before it hit the last possible square you can grip onto, thus corrupting the memory lol.

      @CorporateTakeover_ 3 роки тому +16

      Unfortunately there's no way to get the heart tank like that. You can however squeeze in front of the dozer while falling and jump up there that way. Maybe that's what you are remembering

      I just beat MegaMan X, and I ran through this area multiple times for the hadouken, each time I tried doing something different, and, JUST mashing, without a charge shot to start or anything, I could just barely get the dozer destroyed in time, with a charge shot, especially the pink charge shot, I had well enough time

      @DeitySkullKid 2 роки тому +1

      Oh, and what PROBABLY happened, if I had to guess, was that he had one block destroyed on the area you need to slide on, if it has one block missing you can actually still get up

    Old man's voice here: I was 11 when this game came out and it was groundbreaking on so many levels, I was always a Megaman fan since around 87 or 88 when I first laid my hands on an NES controller, to the point one of my online nicks was Megamaniac, when X launched the game did great things to advance sidescrollers, the intro stage was brilliant and everything flew naturally, you learn most of the mechanics in a matter of minutes. Then there's the fight with vile in which I honestly gave it all, I even found a pattern to damage him without receiving damage myself during that first face off, but I stayed there like 20 minutes and couldn't beat him, then my reflexes wore off and I lost the battle, it was weird seeing Megaman not exploding but kneeling, then Vile grabs me, carries me to the center of the stage and Zero blasts his arm off, I don't think I had seen a plot twist on a videogame before. The game just gets better from that point.
    Then there's the changes to the levels as you mentioned, but also the alternative ways you can defeat the enemies, here are some examples:
    Flame mammoth's tar thing can be ignited by fire, raising a lava column from the floor, BUT, if you cut his nose with boomer kuwanger's weapon, he loses that weapon completely.
    Launch Octopus has that vertical attack you showed on the video, if he grabs you, he drains your lifebar and heals himself, BUT, if you're on that hold, you can mash buttons and actually break his tentacles, taking away one of his homming attacks in the process. His tentacles can also be taken off with Boomer Kuwanger's weapon (seriously, it's probably the best weapon on the game).
    Armored armadillo loses his armor if you use spark mandrill's weapon on him, that way you take away his absortion attack but also can hit him every time, not only when his defense is open.
    There are a few more secrets for those willing to explore.
    Then there's the world building, the death of Zero, and that feeling that this was only the beginning. This game is one that I show when I tell people why I think the SNES is the best console ever made.
    Then with X2 things only got better, but afterwards, X3 was kind of a mess, X4 removed the difficulty factor completely in favor of poorly dubbed anime cutscenes that add very little, the game is also preeeeetty simple when compared with the previous ones, X5 was an improvement and then again we had that feeling of world building that was lost with X4, then X6 happened and it all went to hell onwards.
    This is a series that Capcom really needs to revive.

    Mega Man X has its own Zero Project-esque called "Capsule Remix."
    List of changes
    1. X has the dash at default, and the Foot Parts unlock the Air-Dash as a result. Chill Penguin's stage has been edited to have a chasm so that they can be skipped.
    2. Flame Mammoth's stage has an unobstructed, more easily accessible chasm to access the Arm Parts with just a standing jump, and the Sub-Tank in said stage now requires the Head Parts like in Maverick Hunter X.
    3. Spark Mandrill's stage now has an extra ladder after the Sub-Tank so that you no longer need to go back just to progress to the rest of the stage.
    4. Armored Armadillo's Heart Tank now requires the Head Parts, and the Hadoken can be obtained after just _one_ perfect run.
    5. Zero will never give X his X-Buster no matter what; the player _has_ to get it from Mammoth's stage. I never got it if I didn't already have it by Zero's first death.
    5. All of this means that (not counting the Hadoken), one can play X1 _without_ backtracking at all for all the items, and a _true_ upgradeless run is also possible.
    If J wants to make a video on Capsule Remix, I highly recommend it. Makes a 10/10 game an 11/10.

I only completed the first three NES games and this one so there's a lot I don't know but there's plenty of videos on it out there. The sound tracks from these games will always be favorites of mine even inspiring some of my guitar and bass playing at some point. The perfect game? Mega Man X4 is my favorite Blue Bomber game of all time.
    Why?
    At the time, anime was fairly scarce in my area of NM in the 1990s. I knew of Akira, Street Fighter (Chun Li was my crush), and the anime scenes were amazing to me. They made me dream about Zero and Iris reuniting together somehow, someway and propelled me to draw anime characters in general.
    That game will forever have changed my life. Also...the voice acting was actually terrible lmao. Oh! And speaking of terrible dubbing, I didn't get MM8 until much later. That game is also iconic to me as a Mega Man fan.
    If I had to choose one series to play for eternity, between Final Fantasy Series or Mega Man Series, I'd probably pick Mega Man, despite FF being the clear smarter choice, with XP, tactics, diverse cast of characters, and a rich world to boot. But at it's core, Mega Man is incredibly fun to me.

    Mega Man 6 was published by Nintendo instead of Capcom themselves, I believe. By the time of it’s release, I had already moved on to the Super Nintendo. I also missed out on Donkey Kong Country 3, but I course corrected and found copies of the games to play. Being that I had a taste of the capabilities of the SNES and many of it’s great games, the NES experience for later releases wasn’t as appealing to me and I do not have a connect to MM6 and DKC3 as I do with MM2/MM3 and DKC/DKC2.

Any X game just doesn't feel right if you can't dash, so many jumps are way worse to do, stages are just monumentally slower and certain attacks are basically impossible to dodge without it. People can try to explain it away but, it IS a flaw. It's why X2 is my personal favorite.

    As an older gamer, I wish I could imagine what its like to be someone playing a game that came out before they were born. I got Mega Man X on its release, and it was and still is my favorite Mega Man game ever! In 1993, you can only imagine my excitement for the game, as the visuals, sound, and gameplay blew me away in comparison to every game I've played up until that moment! The music especially sticks with me! And imagine this: The feeling of discovery as me and my brother found out all the game's secrets, the "perfect" way to go through the game (stage order for optimal upgrades/boss weakness exploiting). We played it so much that after a time we could get through the game with hardly any issues, memorizing patterns and where to go and how to attack bosses.
    On a side note you mentioned that you thought some of the bosses being super weak to certain weapons made the game too easy... that was kind of the point though. You were supposed to feel powerful after getting the upgrades!
    Second side note: As an 80's geek that also loved Star Wars, I always laugh at the fact that Vile is obviously just Boba Fett! HAHA! Hell, somebody should do a Mandalorian cosplay but paint the armor to look like Vile's color scheme!

    20:42 While the special weapons are broken in a sense that they make the bosses extremelly trivial, I'm actually gonna defend them, since the way I see it is that the developers wanted you to experiment with the game and discover wich special weapon is the weakness for each boss, and sure, you could just look up a guide and already know each of the bosses weaknesses before even starting the game, but if part of the fun of these games is replay and get better at them, then why would the bosses weaknesses be an exception for this, the game rewards the player's curiosity and experimentation by giving them an easier time with the bosses
    I'll draw a Sonic comparison, if you go through the special stages and get all 7 chaos emeralds, the game rewards you with super Sonic witch completely breaks the game in half, but then what's the point of going through well designed stages and bosses if you can't be damaged by any enemy, can one shot almost anything on screen (with the exception of bosses) and go through the stages at an even faster speed not letting you enjoy the level design as much with only the press of a button? Sure, you could say that Super/Hyper Sonic is optional and you could go through the game without using it a single time, but so are the special weapons in megaman games, you don't need to use them to beat the bosses, you could go through the entire game not using them, you would be missing some upgrades, but most of them you don't need to use them, so because of that, even if they break the bosses, I personally don't have a problem with them

    • @toumabyakuya

      The MMX equivalent of Super Sonic is the Hadouken, not boss weapons. It was bad design to let you easily stunlock bosses with the weapon they're weak to.
