Thank you for making this video ! It was a pleasure for my service dog and I to meet you all in Tampa, in the Airstream section of course. I’ve learned so much from you all, thank you again !
Thanks for watching! Yes, the cleaning of the jet, burner, and flue are all listed as occasional required maintenance in my manual. I will be doing it now every few years.
Thanks for watching - your comment totally made our evening! UA-cam can be a lot of work but we think that if we can help or entertain those in the RV community, it is worth it. Safe travels (with a nice cool fridge).
We love "Problem Solving Luv Subbin Style" 😁 Sooo glad you were finally able to figure out the problem! I know it has been a frustration for awhile. That was baffling. 🤣 Great explanation about the process and repair of your refrigerator. - Michelle
Thanks for watching! Yes, we "Luv" our Airstream and try to keep her looking new. After 22 years and 125,000 tow miles she has a few rock dings and filiform but many people still think she is "new".
Great video! The problem solving technique is a great process to follow. Congratulations on your success! I see many boondocking nights in your future!
We had a similar gas/electric refrigerator problem 2 years ago. Turned-out to be a dirt-dobbers nest in flue exhaust! We've since installed screens inside on plastic inlet and outlet covers.
Woah!!! First time I’ve noticed you in an Auburn hat! I’ve seen Cindy in one (as I’ve commented on before), but not you! That aside- great video! Saved to “Airstream Maintenance” playlist!
Thanks for watching! Yes, as a Citadel grad it is somewhat hard to get excited about the college football scene unless you're in Charleston. Auburn is obviously my team and Cindy's parents (also Auburn grads) keep me well supplied in gear. War Eagle!
Thanks for the video. I removed the jet and sprayed it out with carb cleaner. It must have been clogged. It was visibly more clear. Reinstalled and the flame sounds like you can grill a steak on it! Letting it run on propane overnight and will check temperature. I’m confident that this was the issue
Thanks for watching! It's still s few years aways but we want a top loading fridge and freezer. It would probably require significant cabinet work so it is not something we can do on our own. The major downside is that marine fridges cannot use propane and are almost always 12V. I hate the 12V fridges so we'll have to see...
Just a suggestion, you were using compressed air which is good but a good ol' can of brake clean can be handy to have when you're on the road. It can help with multiple problems.
Thanks for watching! I do carry a can of brake cleaner when on the road and agree it can be very useful. In this case, I followed the manual which distinctly said compressed air.
I shared you video in a facebook thread for a different group of RVs. They (and I) have had issues with Dometic fridges keeping their cool. Recieved a reply mentioning something to the effect the Canadian propane is cleaner than American propane. Any thoughts on that being a factor?
Thanks for watching and sharing! I am not aware of any impurities in American propane. A quick search indicated that both countries adhere to ASTM Standard 1835 which would seem to make them similar. Nevertheless, that's good "food for thought".
The baffle in a water heater is supposed to push hot gases away from center for even heat distribution. So I was told. I don't know what it does in fridge. I think the baffle also slows down the thermodynamic reaction of heated gas to naturally travel upwards at a higher rate if speed.
Thanks for watching and for the interesting information. It makes sense. To tell the truth, I was really surprised when I pulled out that spiral metal piece.
Thanks for watching but I will respectfully disagree. An absorption fridge has no moving parts and takes almost no electricity to run. The power hungry compressor fridges is why Airstreamers are adding lithium battery banks, tons of solar, and dc-dc chargers. I can get by on 1 crappy lead acid battery and 140 watts of solar. Plus, my fridge is 22 years old and still works like a champ (now that I have fixed the propane issue). I am betting that 0.00001% of the compressor fridges being sold today will still be around in 2046...

Thank you so much for watching and bumping into us at Tampa. We're glad our videos have been helpful to you...
What a great job. This one gets filed away in my information storehouse for the future!
Thanks for watching! Yes, the cleaning of the jet, burner, and flue are all listed as occasional required maintenance in my manual. I will be doing it now every few years.
Great video! Loved the problem solving process!
Thanks for watching! We hope the video will be useful not only with those that have a fridge on the fritz but for any problems...
Great Video! This video got our rv refrigerator going again. Thank you

Well done repair!
Nice video, too ... I learned a lot.

Thanks guys! You know we were having problems all the way back to Top of Georgia. Ready for some serious boondocking!
Great troubleshooting video guys! Glad you were able to get the fridge working again!
Thanks guys! It's so nice to have a fridge that works on propane.
Congrats !!! Your 22 looks brand new!!!!

Excellent video! Thanks for the information on problem solving 101. Safe travels
Thanks Cotton Tales! It was "fun" to actually use some of my old work knowledge to fix the Airstream.
Great video! The problem solving technique is a great process to follow. Congratulations on your success! I see many boondocking nights in your future!
Thanks Mike! It was fun to finally use my work experience for something useful - Airstreaming! Safe travels.
Well played guys! Thank you for sharing! 🦩🦩
Thanks for watching! We hope our video will be useful for those with bad propane fridges or any other RV problem!
The phone linked endoscopes are great. I've used them in the Airstream and in our house.
Thanks for watching! We have used ours many, many times. How can you go wrong for $30?
Thanks guys
Thanks for watching! We hope our video was useful from a problem solving perspective and that you'll join us next week for the big install.
We had a similar gas/electric refrigerator problem 2 years ago. Turned-out to be a dirt-dobbers nest in flue exhaust! We've since installed screens inside on plastic inlet and outlet covers.
Thanks for watching! Yes, that's a common problem that we have read about. Sounds like you did a great solution with the screens!
That hard copy of the airstream manual is like an encyclopedia.
That it is. Reading the manual beats the heck out of posting "Help! My fridge is broken" on the internet...

Thanks Much!
Thanks for watching! We hope our video was informative. We know we learned something...
I want to know more about this fridge upgrade you’re thinking about.
Thanks for watching! It's still s few years aways but we want a top loading fridge and freezer. It would probably require significant cabinet work so it is not something we can do on our own. You just solved/ confirmed what I suspected
Thanks for watching and we're glad our video was useful. Fridge is a chilly 34 F as we speak...

My fridge freezer works but the fridge not working
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks so much for watching! Your applause mimics our excited reaction that we now have a propane fridge that works!
the new electric compressor fridges are way better
