Yeah that pathing issue has been there, more often than not, it happens when you select melee and ranged units together (like you did for skirms and pikes) In fact, it happened to Red too many times in this match.
1) Why your opponent seems to always wall his base and you dont ? Bad map ? Cost of resources / villiger time ? 2) If you do wall at least some places, why delete those housewalls all the time when you want to move forward ? a) you get housed b) raiding your base is much easier. Mainly when you move out, build new castle/tc, but leave the base open.
Walls are for slow players. Walls are pointless when you can quickwall like hera. You need only wall the woodchoppers when mentaarms are about to come, even that he can quick wall. The castles help him securing the base. Additionally, hera always has his army so whenever opponent comes up with army. Hera can easily counter that. But you shouldn't completely follow pro moves and hera like moves. For instance, if you don't wall you may not react that quickly against hera. Also, its not like hera didnt lost a game. People has punished him because of no walls but its quite rare. It happens particularly hussar raids of opponent in imperial age.

Probably cuz castle units, especially cataphracts, are hard to mass. Takes alot of time and investment. Also quite expensive
