Let me know what you guys think of the format and whether you prefer live game or rec analysis! I will do a better job with the sponsor for the next video i kinda rushed it this time, but feel free to check the description and view their website. If you purchase any of their products you are supporting me and them directly!
I love the format,
Keep it up!
I love everything you do man, just keep it up. Looking forward to that tutorial on Discord group as well.
I think live games are better entertainment-wise, but rec games allow for much better examination :(
I love the format! Starting with a review of the civ and possible strategies, ways to push and to defend, I think recs lets you comment much more and cover many details of the match. Super clear comments, thank you mate, keep it up!
Great format!
I love the serie “ so yuh want to play “
Using the replay for the gameplay instead of playing it live made a huge difference! I had a really hard time following the other ones but this was much better! Great stuff Hera!
its pretty amazing to see a content creator evolve. i just can imagine looking back in 6-8 months when everything is smoothed out and skripped how rocky the first few videos where. keep up the good work. i would love to see huns because i struggle with early imp when i transition out of cav archers
I liked this and with more coming I’ll feel more comfortable going random civ
I'm excited to see this series continue, as I too am trying to go random and become versatile enough of a player that I can play any civ confidently.
"...but that's okay Hera; it happens, no worries... You definitely do suck though." 😂😂😂
the format is great!
Great format Hera! Great content aswell! Thank you, still amazed other pro's don't have a format like this!
This format is so much easier to learn from Hera. I would highly recommend sticking to this format. I'm using your So You Want to Play series to learn the civs and take notes to help me practice. Thank you so much for your commentary!
Perfect Hera. Loving the new format. Thanks a lot for the great content!
Great format! Your able to really explain and educate without any restrictions on a recorded game like this.
All its missing is a badass K1 intro 😎
Very nice and educational , looking forward for more content and love the new format !
This is a great series, thanks Hera! It would be super helpful if you also highlighted some weaknesses/vulnerabilities of the civ you are showcasing, so we could have some ideas of what to do if we come up against that civ. I struggle hard vs britons and goths and maybe cumans, and i'd definitely enjoy a "So you want to play against..." series too :)
You are great at explaining the game - I love the series! (Also your old 'beginner --> 2k' series). I think there is an advantage to using recorded games, but I also like to see you play. I don't feel it took too much from the videos. Your explanations are probably still more calm and on point with the recorded game ... Thank you so much!
Good stuff. Good coverage of techs and civ strengths and weaknesses. Nice tactics on field. Consider doing more foot archer/cav archer stuff for us please! (especially interested in Tatar, Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, Ethiopians)
Britton and Celts are such nostalgic civs
Thank you for making this video. It helped me tremendously. Great commentary and gameplay. Britons is my favorite civ, but I'm long ways from your skill level, so I learned a lot. Take care.
Great video! I really like how calm you were while he was tower rushing you there. I guess I'm going to pick up brits. Love the light cav use there!
Big fan of this format, very helpful
Yes! I've been looking forward to this series continuing
this way of presenting was so much better than your older streaming ones. As you are against another incredible player you need to seriously concentrate and also change the camera view 40000 times a minute. This was so smooth and entertaining to watch as well as educational, your other videos take a few watches to get what you did love the content man I would suck still without these videos
Britons is by far my favorite civ, and I can definately see that I underrestimate the -50% wood cost on the TC's. Definately going to take better advandage of that now. Thanks for the vid, Hera!
Such a G - awesome to watch. Saw viper come back against the brits cause his opponent didn't know how to close the game out. Love me some longbows
Hera, you are by far the nicest and most educational pro AOE2 player. Thanks for the great content!
Great video Hera! I really liked the format!
Amazing, just amazing. I like Britons and this gave me some great tips! Tysm!
The first battle I beat him
Carried again by my english longbows 🎵
I hid behind walls and spammed them
Carried again by my english longbows 🎶
My go-to strat was always either a drush into archers or some kind of feudal archer build (playing against AI) with extended castle age fight but now I realise how wrong I was thanks to you !
Makes sense to have the game pre-recorded. Lets you pick videos that best showcase the civ and you can focus more on explaining, good choice.
I dont mind the sponsor stuff because i imagine this type of format is more time intensive (picking the game, recording commentary etc.) So it makes sense you need some more incentive for it.
Anyway id love to see some off kilter civ choices next maybe like Italians Saracens or Koreans
Very instructive comments! I prefer the game replay than the live game. Thanks Hera!
Britons are an absolute one of top 5 favorite civs, for both mechanics and lore.
Yeeeees finally britons, I‘ve been waiting for this Video for a long long time
Your channel is awesome. You're a great teacher.
So glad you came back to these!
Also I quite enjoyed the tournament you hosted last week! Keep it up man
Britain’s without thumb ring is historical accurate if you know about historical archery
Very nice series, thanks!
The new format is really great, the only important thing missing is the moment for the questions, you should dedicate some time to answer some questions in the comment section
Wow! I now love Dr Squash! I have bought at least forty because you recommended them. Probably more like 500 though. Wow!
Hera seems like a real bro IRL
Love the format!
Hello Hera, great video. Can you do Malay next as they are different from other civs and are difficult if you dont know what to do?
excelent format modification and hopefully you can remake the other civs, like cumans or mayas
I won a Britons mirror on Arena last night, I was slightly behind my opponent most of the game, I think I was down on relics 2-3, I won because I invested in Arbalester and my opponent invested in Longbow, we both hit imp at the same time, he was producing longbows while I was producing Trebs. He had longbow and skirm but had very few treb numbers compared to mine and it made a big difference I think. Arb + light cav + mass trebs beats Longbow + Skirm+ few trebs. He even added in Halb too but it wasn't enough, I think Briton biggest strength is those trebs!
Taking the front gold without mining camp to provoke tower rush was genius.
I like playing team games like 2v2. However, the bases are far apart so in the early game you have to leave your base to help your teammate. Is there a mod or map that lets teammates share the same base? I dont see the point in how it is now.
Yep I def like this style much better where you can give good analysis
What do you do as Britons vs meso civs and elite eagles, tho? I keep dying to that...
"I'm an archer civ"
Doesn't have thumbring..
When you dont know the civs as a noob. Should you upgrade both pikemen and cav with Bows so u are ready for the counter fights, or does that decision come in with the knowledge that u scout?
Hey Hera, the recorded games are better for educational content. Imagine trying to explain through that Feudal age tower mess. But just one small cavaet: Since your are picking from recorded games anyways, pick a recorded game that showcase the Civ in a best case/ standard scenario where most of the things go smoothly. Since its educational content, we can focus on the standard scenario with the Civ.
Hey Hera, I was wondering why you would take the game to castleage? Isnt brits feudal much stronger than korean feudal?
Love the format btw, keep up the great work :)
watching britons gameplay gave me nostalgia🥲
Hera breaking the meta and going for water in an Arabia game :P
Great stuff Hera!
I am still waiting for
So you want to play Tatars? ...... No you don't!
1 or 2 archery ranges for Britons?
So when do the Werewolf Trebs turn into wolves?
Please do Bulgarians next. There are some players like Larry that don't what what the civ does, even in a tournament :)
there is no counter to their longbows if you mass them
any army melts before reaching them
I like this format (y)
How does he in 25:40 build a castle and then have every villager back in their old farm?? Thanks for your help!!
i would like to see the pros play to a bitter end
Best! Soap! Ever!
So, HOW DO YOU PLAY KOREANS?? (and win?)
Finally!!! Thanks Hera
Updated version?
MBL could have gone for castles instead of towers and war wagons could have countered light cav + long bows
I have a problem, I want to buy some dr Squatch set but the only shipping option for Europe is the UK, Im from Germany, what can i do?
hey unfortunately they only ship to certain countries. I believe if your from germany you aren't able to purchase their product from the store :/
I think you can use third party service (like myus, etc.). But it's gonna be like $20. If you buy from several stores, many services consolidate your shipment and send everything together to Germany, you might even end up saving. You need to pay the import tax upon receiving your goods though. So, supporting your boy Hera is still possible this way, albeit more problematic.
How did you send your farmers to build the castle and then send them back to each farm? Is there an option for this? I almost never bother my farmers because then I have to waste time figuring out which farm each of them was.
I'm a noob so i might be wrong but I think he held Shift then cued/clicked on the closest farm so they all go there when the castle was finished then they go by themselves to the nearest unoccupied farm.
I also really like this format, because you can better focus on the commentary
New way of doing these is way better!
First time back to AoE2 in 20 years. Love this series. Would love to see it updated with the new balances and the Roman civs.
PS: Really enjoyed your gameplay in KoTD5, and Nations Cup.
is the title inspired by Bricky's 'so you want to main?''
lets hop into it!
Great new format! I would add talking a bit more about the specific good/bad match ups.
For youtube rather see these analysis games for twitter live ofc
beware of the werewolf trebs
I like this serie.. Both formats are good in my opinion.
So you want to play Italy? When? :)
when I come 1v1 against goth player in arena what do I do haha? (900elo) I think I would go mass Heavy Scorpions & Skirms
Would be great to see Huns or Goths next
Lol mr Squash Ad is funny. I mean the UA-cam video on their website
I WOULD LIKE TO SEE: BURGUNDIANS!
I was waiting for this one! #gobritons
So you want to play with 200 pop long bows
Also the format is nice good for more explanation type vids where player preferences aren’t as important
Whichever way you do it, it is fine. We are such noobs, that nothing can make us as good as you soon ;)
I lately got byzantines in a tg bf and i didnt know wath to make in late game, any typs?
It depends
Trash...or arbalest..
And if u have high res..then cataphract..
Or even you can go hand canon and bombard Canon.. its kind of an all-rounder civ
@@tushardeshpande97 anything exept stable units, for cav you want to stick with the cataphract, as there other cav units are pretty trash
Why do some man at arms wreck Britton archers?
thanks for the vid man. Just remember next time to use your mic closer to your mouth, i have my volume at max and i can barely hear you
You know, I didn't hate what MBL was doing with the towers. Towers tend to get under utilized owing to how weak they are -- if people do defend with fortifications, it's usually Castles, as they need no upgrades to function well. Towers on the other hand need upgrades -- if they don't have at least up to Bracer, they'll only do 1 damage per arrow to Cav, which does squat against Imperial Hussar raids. But with Keep, Arrowslits and Chemistry, we're looking at around 15 damage per shot, and due to lower cost can be spread out. While MBL definitely lost due to a lack of answer to Longbow and Treb, he was immune to losing from a Light Cav runby.
I saw this game live, omegalul at the mbl towers
14:32 I wonder why don't you wall with your gold since you won't be using it for the time being?
That's just telegraphing he's not using that gold, it would make MBL not interested in that area and just tower rush somewhere else
I had a weird time checking enemy civs too, you can just look at the logo on the scoreboard. Pretty obvious but hope it helps someone out
Sorry but not everyone remember the logo
Logos mean nothing to me since Im new. I figured out that I have time to check the tech tree when my villagers are chopping up sheep and my scout is busy. Is there an app that helps us decide what units to use/avoid per enemy civ?
@@chipburns4123 well first you should focus on your own civs strengths and then focus on the enemy civ accordingly. And theres no app as far as i know
Can you do Khmer next please!?!?
Bro what can you do against goths?
Make one of this with Bulgarians 11
Isn't the rate of fire the same for both longbows and crossbows? I thought they were both 2.0 just that briton crossbows/longbows fire slower than civs with thumb ring
Nah pretty sure longbows rate of fire is slightly lower than xbows
Checked on the wiki and ur right, both 2.0
I was sure it was different lol
wait was I wrong here? Im fairly certain briton arbalest do better vs rams than longbows because they fire faster. Maybe its reload speed that Im talking about
@@HeraAgeofEmpires2 Hmm wiki says the rate of fire (2.0) and frame delay (5) are the same as crossbows. So unless I'm missing something they should do better vs rams because of the extra damage. Obviously they are still harder to mass and slower to train than their own crossbows though
@@austinwirtz2434 well extra damage vs ram doesnt matter since it has so much pierce armor. Interesting, definitely not how it feels like in game
Ngl, I ordered some soap mid video...
Tatars after update will be nice
hey hera random idea. Redo the hussar spam video, but with bulgarian hussar
Yes...I do 😅
Lithuanians next
Im learning the game so watching you play doesnt really absorb into my brain. Casting your replay is much better but its still hard to tell what you are doing. I just found out that you can make a hotkey in the settings to select all ranges, castles, etc. also you can shift click ALL idle villagers which is another huge thing. Can you or have you made a video explaining how to do all these things the most efficient way? It may seem obvious to some people but it would be nice to know these things
