In this video we replace the Front Struts & Spring Assembly plus Sway Bars on a 2009 Chrysler Town and Country Touring Minivan. This video is applicable to 2008-2016 Chrysler Town & Country, 2008-2018 Dodge Grand Caravan and 2009-2014 Volkswagen Routan Minivans, which all share the same platform.
I did not end up replacing the inner and outer tie rods because the existing tie rods were in working order.
This strut is not NIVOMAT, but NIVOMAT are apparently very rare.

Did this same job on my 08 town and country with 118k. The hardest part was braking the nuckle bolts really tight. Helps to have an impact gun.
Very very important this guy needed to Turk the top strut bolts to 30 ft pounds and nuckle bolts to 60 ft pounds plus a quarter turn. And take that top tray and wiper blades off. It makes the job a lot easier. You can rent a wiper blade puller at outo zone.
Hows the van doing so far on these struts? Still holding up?
The struts are doing great with about 70k miles since the change.

The plastic had enough flex to allow the ratchet, with a short extension, under the cover, while lifting it with my hand. There was maybe 3 inches using this approach.
Yes I did it without removing wiper arms it's not difficult
I always use PB Blaster and a torch.

Can you make a video on how to jack the Caravan? mine is so rusted under... I'm afraid of damaging whatever is under.

How's the ride? I have the exact same vehicle and was thinking about using Detroit axle but keep seeing mixed reviews on them.
I couldn't be happier, it rides like new. Will they last as long as another brand, who knows, but I think Detroit Axle provides great value.

@@md0246 I've used Detroit axel for a dodge caravan. Rack n pinion, hub assembly ect.. Now buying this exact kit to do my shocks and struts because everyone was 1500.00
