- When it boils right down to it, Papua New Guinea (PNG) is one of the most interesting locations I’ve ever travelled to. Although I had an idea of what to expect, like the endless miles of beautiful and challenging terrain, I was blown away by what lay in store for us.
Of all the things to say about PNG, the amazingly rich culture is what really stood out to me. Getting to know the locals, dance with them and celebrate with them, was truly an honor and is something I will remember forever. I am so excited to share my experiences with you in the first episode of our latest series, Trackin’ Dirt!

I grew up in PNG and still speak Tok Pisin fluently...I did the Kokoda twice during high school there, once flying in like you and walking back and then also going the other way from Sogeri to Kokoda. Back then no porters and no commercialism...we carried our own packs and just had one guide. If you get back, do the Yongai to Woitape trek, climbing Mt Albert Edward along the way...beautiful scenery...great memories from PNG, beautiful people and beautiful country. Then go to New Ireland, hire a bicycle and cycle down the Boluminski Highway, just to see a beautiful island and stop at the villages along the way..chew some buai lol.
thats awesome man, do you ever go back?
@@thvtsydneylyf3th077 Hi mate, yeh a few times but not since 2010. Went up there to help my Dad pack up before he moved to Australia for health reasons. Awesome country and 99% of the people are just humble and good hearted. The cities give the place a bad name and the raskols, but the rest stunning and pure beauty, especially love the Highlands and the mountains and rivers.
GOOD TOURISTS TO DESTROY DO NOT PROTECT YOUR COUNTRY SAD
An you stap.where may!!?
I've got a stream of income, that is an online business which is currently making me more than $20k monthly, it's called an advance asset trade, if you’re interested in making good income online I can send you some more info on how it worked for me.
I was born and raised in Papua New Guinea! 🇵🇬🇵🇬👍👋! 😄 I was born in MT. Hagen.. western highlands province. Raised in the southern highlands. In the widu valley! I speak English, widu, imbangu, kewabe, my home! I’m a citizen! 😁🇵🇬👋
you're amazing mate! Love the doc, got me emotional... PNG is untouched virgin environment, riches with natural and magical places, makes us wonders, how blessed it is.. LOVE from Philippines... God bless PNG
Thank you so much bro, I’m from Papua New Guinea Living in the Philippines...I love your comment.... Salamat Kuiya
@@joewagi6901 Is Papua New Guinea really that dangerous like what reported by many news medias?
Barii koii ✊
@@ardi08 Hi bro, not true. Friendly people. It's the people who don't go out that says it's dangerous but not us all are dangerous. Everywhere in this world, there's good and bad. We are happy to always welcome new people into our country and show them our beautiful country with spectacular places to visit. Cheers, from Lae, Morobe

Your truly are a genuine guy. Other tourists, travelers or visitors etc.. should learn from you by mingling with the locals and have personal experience of the culture and people by physically living with them like u did. Instead, they stay in hotels in the city and make up all sorts of negetive stories about this beautiful country. There's more this country has to offer if they would only pick up their lazy butts and get out of the hotel rooms to experience other parts of PNG. Well done and keep up the good work your doing..
Thanks David!
Wow great approach to life Bồ, making assumptions about people based on where they stay on holiday. If only you would pickup your lazy butts and don’t judge people on holiday accommodations 🤦🏻♂️.
I am off to PNG in only a couple of weeks as of October 2023. I am hoping for an incredible adventure! Wish I could hear from you.
I am glad you're visiting PNG. I am traveling up there with my wife in January 2024.
Love from Bangladesh 🇧🇩
Wow! It emotionally pains me seeing this. The beauty of this country, dense forests, rural villages, the diverse cultures, even dirt and just the smiles from the people and children with nothing but sense of happiness . How amazing. Thanks for visiting.
I agree. Seeing people that are happy enrages me.
Thank you for Promoting Papua New Guinea

"They have nothing but they'll give you everything". That's PNG! And I genuinely enjoyed watching you experience that 🙌 ❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
That was a great video to see what PNG is like. Coming from Vanuatu where it is also a Melanesian country in the Pacific region, it was interesting to note how the culture of PNG is diverse and serene, am amazed by it all. Looking forward to more of your videos in the future. Thanks.
Thanks for sharing and glad you enjoyed the video, Pascal!
I am Papua New guinean. Born and raised. ❤ Just found these.. beautiful..

Eric - Thank you so much for sharing such an amazing experience of yours. I really enjoyed watching and learning something new today. Glad to know you are from Arizona. I experienced an incredible journey of yours from the comfort of my chair. You are an inspiration for potential dreamers like myself, as I am wishing to go on extensive hikes and learn the existence of amazing parts in this world. Thanks a bunch🙏🏻
As a Papua New Guinean, I am so proud of my country. Thank you for showcasing the beauty warmth and hospitality of my people. I am sure this was a life-changing and wonderful experience for you. I know and hope these videos will make a positive impact on my people and country and encourage more visitors to visit more places that are so beautiful but most importantly the beauty of our culture and people...
Was emotional watching. My beloved PNG is amazing. Thanks for sharing PNG with the rest of the world.
The western highlands of Papua New Guinea is one of if not the THE wetest part of the planet. In some of those parts it rains 365 days a year. When I hiked there I soon dispensed of my shoes, for several reasons. One, they held the moisture against your feet and you would get jungle rot and fungus. 2, leeches liked to go down underneath your socks, but if you are barefoot, the plants and the water brushes them off 3, the treads of boots just fill up with mud and become smooth and slippery so you have no traction. But with bare feet, when climbing up the muddy trails, you learn to dig your big toe into the mud to pull yourself up. 4, you have to cross a lot of streams. With shoes on it's harder to feel where to step. Some rocks are much slipperier than others. I like to feel around with bare feet for the best next foothold. I ended up having to help the locals across a river one by one holding their hand, because I was much taller, and they would be swept away without me. I am tall and thin, and sideways against the current I was not as much of a resistance.
Lived here my whole life and never hiked the Kokoda. After watching this video, I want to try it out
Thank you visiting png one love.

Yeah of course I am Papua New Guiean, and would like to say what you have seen in this video is real, not just a dream, in Papua New Guinea most people don't live in the cities or towns , the majority of the population lives in the villages all around the country.

Papua New Guinea nature's hidden gem
Such a beautiful docu/vlog. Being from PNG I really appreciate the 100% positive presentation of whatP PNG has to offer. Yes, we have many problems in the country, but which country doesn't have them?
Most times PNG hits the headlines for negative reasons only. Such reports are really valuable and important to promote the unique culture and hospitality of our people. Thank you so much.
In case you are interested in visiting the Simbu Province and climb Mt Wilhelm or hike to Madang via the Bundi road....let me know...I can help arrange for you.
DESTROYING YOUR COUNTRY WITH TOURISM WILL MAKE IT GARBAGE

I'm your subscriber now brother. Next time, visit my province ENGA , next to western Highlands you went visit. Enga is real mystery places Like : Lakes, Waterfalls, raging rivers, Jungles, caves and more that you will never find in any parts of the world. If I'm there in my country, i would take you to my village and you will never forget the Journey but I'm in Europe now.
YOU BECAME A WESTERN COLONIALIST, I FROM GREECE, I HATE EUROPE, WHY DO YOU TELL THEM TO DESTROY YOUR COUNTRY WITH TOURISM?
Yes. In 1991 it was, I hiked from Maramuni in Enga province down to the Sepik.
Great adventure...thanks for visiting PNG....Im from Lae, PNG and I did Kokoda once in December 2017...
Right on! I love PNG. I hope to return, thanks for the recommendation!
Wow this place is amazing very interesting journey
Thankyou God for my beautiful country.

Well narrated brother. Really love the compliment on the goodbye part. if you happen or planned to visit PNG on your next trip, please come to my village, Tambul. My village i located at the boarder of Western Highlands and Southern Highlands and also, its located close to the second highest mountain in PNG, Mt Giluwe. i will be more than happy to guide you.

YOU DO NOT PROTECT YOUR COUNTRY FROM WESTERN CHINESE TOURISTS
I'm glad you visited PNG. Happy you liked it.
You should go back and visit other places.
Great video buddy😇
Would love to go back!
Great attitude regarding the trek…
Super stunning video there, thankyou for visiting my Island 🏝 home
Awesome
You are a Legend.
Truely the land of the unexpected
Beautiful doc. about PNG brother.
Thank you!
Bro you should try the Sarawaged Range too...in Kabwum, Morobe Province...I tracked Sarawaged in November, 2021....its very amazing...
Nice,
Great video. I liked it a lot, and I subscribed. I once heard that one could see butterflies the size of dinner plates in PNG, and I was sold on it right then and there. I love sugar gliders, and there are native sugar gliders there...I would so much like to see a sugar glider in the wild. If I die without going there, I will die with regrets.
But I have a question, and I like to pose this question to adventuresome travelers in general. This video was made four years ago, but today PNG is rated as US State Department Level 3 reconsider travel. It was likely rated the same when you visited. Port Moresby and Southern Bougainville are particular hot spots. So from your experience would you recommend people to reconsider travel to PNG (in general or to specific spots)?
Thank you for sharing videos from our country throughout the world 🇵🇬🇵🇬🇵🇬👏👏👏❤️👍
I absolutely loved this episode. Wow.. What an amazing experience. Well done 👏.
thank you so much!
Thanks
Wow, where in Western highland did you go? I am from there

What water filter are you using on this trip?
Hey Henry, thanks for reaching out! On this trip I was using the Grayl Ultralight water purifier. - EH
An absolute beauty. That was amazing. Awesome coverage Eric. For you to come all the way out here to experience first hand what Papua New Guinea is all about and for being genuinely honest enough to give a positive impression about PNG, its diverse cultures & traditions and of course its beautiful people and the histories, it's really worth it. You're a greate friend and brother. I'm proud of you and my country. God bless your heart and may God protect you as you tour other beautiful places of the world. You're welcome to come back to PNG any time. Please come back and visit other beautiful places of this beautiful country. You wouldn't know until you find out. The land of the unexpected. Expect the unexpected. Thanks again brother. Wonderful video of your adventure & experience. Cheers.
