I think Louis is really good at visualizing the thought process the typical human goes through in most daily situations. He's really good at seeing both sides of the picture which is how he's able to write stuff like this. It is surprisingly difficult to create an authentic piece of dialogue or interaction, one that doesn't seem rushed, and because of Louis' style he's allowed to lower the pace or speed it up when he needs to, not like other mainstream shows where it's 100 mph all the time straight to the punchline. Life and people are meandering and everything doesn't always make sense. It's a relief to finally have some shows that reflect that.
Ah, yea, I think you're exactly right. I remember a joke of his where he talks about sitting in 1st class of a plane and he sees an Army personnel board the plane -- a young guy -- and how in his head he thinks about the idea of offering up his seat, but of course never does. I think stuff like this really shows his knowledge of the inside dialogue we often have with ourselves.
"life and people are meandering and everything doesn't always make sense" Pretty much sums up how amazingly awkward life is most of the time, I like that.
I first saw her in one of these awesome weird Hal Hartley movies ("Henry Fool" I believe, at least 20 years ago), and I immediately knew she was an elite level actress. She deserves more credit !
*She won't go out with any of you* . Ahahaha. This is fiction. She is a beautiful woman, or was. (She's 55 now.) She's knows she has a great smile. She knows she's attractive. And, every man who walks past her thinks she's attractive.
Comedian, writer, director aside, c.k. Is also a natural actor. After she walks away, his réaction is perfect. I actually felt i was experiencing the joy and surprise myself.
He sets it up too. Earlier in the episode he jokes about the fist-pump. In most sports, you have teammates you give a high-five to, but when you're alone in sports like tennis, you can only fist-pump to celebrate.
Have you seen his ex-wife? She's beautiful as hell. As his current woman. He's pretty good in fighting his fatness, baldness and general ugliness with his tongue :)
It's not his fault the only way he could orgasm is to pressure female comics who want a chance on a show to stay in the room with him as he tries to masterbate. Louie Anderson gets to orgasm all the time, why not CK?
The real thing that makes this line genius, is the way Louie has to take a deep breath after this brief moment of self reflection, and loses his train of thought. You cant write this stuff, you have to live it
The reason that it's funny is because a human knows both sides of the conversation. They know what it's like to be in the weird time of love and most if not all men know how it feels to be Louie trying to get someone out of their league. But like all comedy it is exaggerated like how the joke being on Louie is. For something to be funny the joke has to be "at" someone, in this case it's how we laugh at Louie for being so incredibly unconfident towards himself. That is where the jokes come from.
God dude, Louie is such a talent. Not many people can write/act a scene like this and have it play totally earnest, capturing all of the uncomfortable nuance of real life interactions, while also managing to come off so endearing. Woody Allen was the master ofc, but the fact that Louis can really make you FEEL a scene like this proves that he's way more than just an imitator. And all that while also being one of the funniest people on the planet... God, I miss this show.
Yeh, and he also apparently chooses which cameras and lenses to shoot with, curates the music, edits the show, etc, he is a super underrated director...
I hope he can find more success after flushing his career down the toilet with multiple sexual allegations. Woody Allen, another wonderful human, just ask his daughter and other young girls he molested and assaulted. 👍

This guy is a genius, I have been procrastinating on watching "Louie" for years now, and I have watched his stand up shows and his "Lucky Louie" show thousands of times. This show here, "Louie" is just brilliant in the way it shows the audience the same ol'reality but in a very interesting way. Thanks Louis !
Such a great scene. Honest and real, and his expression of joy at the end encapsulates everything it means for a guy to ask out an attractive woman like that, and for her to say yes.
It's actually an amazing feeling unless you're Brad Pitt or whatever to see a woman that is hot as hell and seems nice, intelligent etc. and to have that moment when you discover she's actually interested in you too. There's no feeling like it really and having no idea what the future will bring with this new person.
I love that feeling when you really want to ask her out but you're not sure if you should and you wait a while to ask but eventually you just go for it and it doesn't matter if she says no because you maned the F up and asked.
It honestly does get to that point where you’re thinking, I do not care what the answer is I just need to get this out ahaha, then when it’s a yes you think, God why did I spend so long agonising over it? Ah man it’s fun :)

She looks younger and hotter, so she could get pleasant looking, fit guys in their 30's. He might not know her exact age, and he's acknowledging that. It's good form!
When he says, 'can I talk to you for a minute' and he walks her 20 feet to a new space, makes no sense, but also makes total sense. As if changing location would somehow make it less awkward and it is his attempt to control his own awkwardness, which in the end he doesn't even need to control because he got the date. I am 99% sure Louis wrote that out intentionally. The genius of this guy to point out subtleties to human behavior is next level.
Those last couple of seconds, after she walked away, and Louis just sort of basked in his success (given the whole build up and self-attributed incredulity of his prospects) are fantastic. Very subtle screenwriting
pretty sure one incident was his colleagues when he was not famous or rich, and the other was his boss. So, hard to see power over anyone. But i wonder if portraying being the one who must be asked (and therefore has power) as going through struggle , and the one who must do the asking and therefore be uncomfortable as empowered, is anything but prejudice.
"nice job on the asking out" What a simple, pleasant thing to say. I've been out of the dating scene for 30 years now, but folks certainly didn't say things like that when I dated in the 80's and early 90's. It was usually either, "sure let's fuck" or "fuck off".
@Kleavers Yeah irl usually Louis would see her with group of her friends and only then have the courage to ask them all if it was ok to try something out in front of them all.
This is EXACTLY what WAS happening. You're just living in the wrong age and I'm pretty sure you've never asked a girl out without first having her insta, socials and exchange a million messages.. Long live the 90s and the 00s.. Sorry for you guys
This has happened to me. Awkwardly asked a girl on a date she accepted. When we got to the pizzeria there was a several hour wait, instead of pivoting and choosing another restaurant in the area she decided to go home. 6 years later I am in a happy and loving relationship with the girl of my dreams. Parker Posey's reactions while he's talking helped really sell this scene. Damn shame Louie got lumped in with Weinstein and Cosby, can't wait for his return!
he didnt get lumped in, he earned it.
@@robi6317 asking permission to jerk off in front of a woman and drugging a girl and raping her while she is passed out are nowhere near the same thing. This isn't apples to oranges.
Louis CK did nothing wrong
@@butch2811 YES they ARE 2 very different things, however he was doing it to women opening for his act for one thing. and its still creepy ass behavior. he did what he did and women dont tend to like it. therefore he got outed for being a creepy weirdo, vs just doing what he does in this very video.
@@QuartuvLarry yeah he kinda did
"not a troll" is the best compliment.
Gotta love Parker.
He’s a genius. That show was more emotional/real than comedy and the comedy shined even more when it hit. 🙌🏼
Still one of the best scenes in TV. Louis truly mastered this art form.
what is this from?
@@thereader6371 From Louis CK’s show “Louie”. Get it on his website!
We've all been there. It's either easy as pie or terrifying. Louis is fucking talented. Just saw him do Stand Up the other week and he killed it.
haven t been there...it always came easy to me
@@raduvlad4429 oooooo big man here everybody check out Radu and his flirting skills!
@@raduvlad4429 When you're in elementary school age it doesn't count stud
Tried this once, got hit with an atlas and suffered a concussion.
This is why you don't approach women who read. They know things. Dangerous things.
Your head must've been spinning. You must've said something offensive, on a global scale.
The first couple seconds are straight out of a porn scene
lol
@Pickle man Yeaaah minus the bad acting
You watch too much porn.
Yeah and so is the saxophone at the end :P
This is fantastically relatable and pure. Louis is amazing.
Parker is absolutely gorgeous and Louis is an amazing and underrated actor.
"How to beg a girl out" should be the tittle
It's just being honest and nice and human. Don't be so hung up on small notions of pride it won't get you anywhere
@@bronyatheistfedora Alright, go try this in real life and see if you get past the first date.
@@cowsarea you sound like a real expert, I'm sure there's rigorous empirical investigation behind that
@@bronyatheistfedora Well I've had sex before so compared to you I think I'm an expert.
@@cowsarea you think you've had more sex than Louis CK?
My favorite episodes. He meets this wonderful free spirit of a woman, fails to see her again, and the next time he does sees her she just dies. Absolutely gut wrenching and brutal.
I feeling it all over again 😢
SPOILER ALERT
Huh
Did he get to whip it out and spank the monkey like he usually does though?
His reaction at the end is so funny… great actor!! Please come back Louie.. the series you had just started was friggin brilliant. I don't understand why he can't just come back and do his thing.
This show was outstanding.
What show is it?
This is just so human. Love it.
The music goes so well with this
I’m so sad I just want Louis Ck back
He says that she's young and he's not, but they're only 1 year apart.
She looks younger and hotter, so she could get pleasant looking, fit guys in their 30's. He might not know her exact age, and he's acknowledging that. It's good form!
"I don't choose guys based on looks..." ROFL!
The most unrealistic line in the scene tbh
@@bojangbugami8650 Well she admitted that that is what she has been doing and is trying to change.
With every woman it varies obviously, looks can only get you so far, especially if you have a crappy personality
How can she resist a silver-tongued devil like that?
Louie's reaction after she says yes is just so adorable 🤗
All those expressions on this woman's pretty face as Louis continued babbling non-stop. I had my eyes glued to her face throughout.
Those last couple of seconds, after she walked away, and Louis just sort of basked in his success (given the whole build up and self-attributed incredulity of his prospects) are fantastic. Very subtle screenwriting
“And you are not a troll. For Christ sake, get some confidence!”
Oh Parker,. You always deserve and can do so much better ❤️!
I love this man in a non-sexual way. Just bought tickets to one of his shows near me. No doubt he is one of the greatest stand ups of our time.
Oh he's still at it? I thought he fizzled out after the scandal stuff
👍
It's weird to me now after I heard about the stiff he did. Sometimes I will notice those things even in this jokes. 😐
Good thing you clarified it wasn't a sexual way
Thanks for letting us know that it was in a non-sexual way
Her facial expressions were great!😂
horribly cute is such an adorable thing to say. for real.
This begins one of my favorite series of episodes
"you are young and beautiful and I'm neither of those things" just had to look it up turns out they are only 1 year apart.
He really understands women's struggles, I'm sure he has enough self awareness to not exploit his power over anyone and make them uncomfortable.
hahahahhahah best comment on here!!!!
oof
pretty sure one incident was his colleagues when he was not famous or rich, and the other was his boss. So, hard to see power over anyone. But i wonder if portraying being the one who must be asked (and therefore has power) as going through struggle , and the one who must do the asking and therefore be uncomfortable as empowered, is anything but prejudice.
Lol that’s so not gonna work under the age of 40, don’t try this, teens.
Where were you five years ago when I needed you?
Yeah, ladies under 40 will roll their eyes upwards and walk away.
When their options meet your looks. Pussy versus income squared. Louis set out the game plan.
@@rjwusher i see, you are man of culture and mathematics
i am 25 this would work
she’s from Lost in Space! i love her
"nice job on the asking out" What a simple, pleasant thing to say. I've been out of the dating scene for 30 years now, but folks certainly didn't say things like that when I dated in the 80's and early 90's. It was usually either, "sure let's fuck" or "fuck off".
I love this realism. The adrenalin almost got into my veins.
Unfortunately this is not what happens irl.
Things get better.
A several hour wait? What happened? Was there a shooting?
Ugh that face and energy he gets when she walks away....swear to god one of the best feelings in the whole world.
I was literally sparked joy when she said why not. I felt happy for him but this story ended pretty sad..
This is art, not real life. No woman will respect you if you approach like this.
hahaha...fucking awesome... i'm gonna use the same words even if i"ll be on the slap receiver side
screw that shit, no girl has the right to just assault a guy cuz he asks her out. alota girls need to calm the hell down when guys ask them out. lol to your comment tho
Tbh I think the worst you'd get is a disapproving no, or I have a BF / GF. Mild moment of disappoint then "Done I'm done and I'm on to the next one" (In Dave Grohol voice) hahah
Armin Iravani so just make a judgement...based that nothing horrible would happen!
You have to watch this twice; once to watch Louis's facial expressions, another to watch hers.
By the way guys, don't do this lmao. If she doesn't want to go out, kissing ass and pre-apologizing won't work. They gotta want you already at least a little bit. That's where your effort needs to be directed: making yourself appealing before popping the question.
"I sweat a lot and I'm lumpy". HA HA HA!!! Louis CK's stand up is entertaining. But this show was incomparable. Brilliant stuff!
And then you remember that Louis wrote all her lines ...
