Even the comments section seems to miss the point. The hole created by that persons absence is the love you felt for them. You are now entwined in the human story of romance. Without that heartbreak, you are nothing. Nothing but a blank canvas. So marinade in the triumph of having experienced love. That love is yours for as love as you live. No one can take it from you.

"What I would give to have that feeling again."

Just like the first hit of crack. You’ll be chasing that high. In disbelief of going on thinking you’ll find that same hit. Experiencing things for the first time is basically introducing new feelings. Traveling to new frontiers. Routes are established. When you return to familiar routes, they become extended. The experience is what furthers them. Thus, those feelings you felt for the first time, will become distant as the route develops. Some things become boring. But I use psilocybin to reset shit so I can “feel” things for the first time again.

@@singularmusing970 I'm high as a kite on psilocybin right now and I couldn't agree more. In fact the reason why I'm watching this video is because I'm having a hard time explaining myself on why me and my family should care for what happens to us, not just normalize struggle as that's how life works, but actually care, listen and do something about that struggle, measure progress, because once you and your ones are happy you can start to care about the trip others are having. That sweet nugget of love that is caring about the people around you. And I remembered this episode just now, watched it like 8 years ago, is kinda crazy actually, even more in the state I'm in rn, lol. Anyway what I'm saying is that the "high" we all chase its the feeling of having something to care, that's why all routes take us back home, that sweet sweet sad love of having something you don't want to lose and still you know you'll eventually have to let go, that's the best part, hold on that part so when the bad part comes you're ready to pass the torch.

This can be applied to the most horrible aspect of true chronic depression. A truly depressed person isn’t perpetually sad, they aren’t anything at all (emotionally). They’re just numb to it all. They just don’t give a shit about anything in reality beyond a slight whimper of emotion. Being chronically sad by comparison means you’re at least invested in something or someone. There is passion and vitality and desire there even if it’s extremely emotionally painful. Feeling nothing at all though is just the void where nothing worthwhile can ever be derived from and that’s why it’s the absolute worst.

Not everything you experience or are given in life is just or meant for you to experience. It's just like everything in life sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. It's the game of life. So play with skill and experience and know when to cut your loses. Almost nothing is promised except death and taxes if you chose to live in society. This carries a very deep truth for me, and I think many people move beyond the main point. Heartbreak and suffering is meaningful. These feelings are deep, powerful, and rare, and if I never felt them again, I would sorely miss the experience. Not because they imply an earlier period of joy/love, no: I think I would genuinely miss the raw experience itself.
I totally get the idea of someone remembering a period of immense suffering or sadness, and upon reflection wishing that they could experience it once again. I, like most people, try very hard to distance myself from suffering, and I wonder if truthfully I'm only denying myself something valuable in the process.

The distinction is how sadness is the illuminating factor for that. It’s a message about looking ahead optimistically with an broken heart.
The theme in this scene is that the only way to know you had love is to lose love and remember what it was all about when you had it. It’s a message about looking back with a fonder, heavier heart than you had back then.
They’re both fine messages, but South Park’s is about having the courage to move on from being a sad person and this one is about not letting sad memories and moments leave you because if they do, you’ll lose the happy memories.

Comedy is almost equal and opposite to tragedy. It’s what makes everything meaningful and meaningless at the same time.

Honestly this show cannot be given TOO much credit. It is art in its purest form. The episode in the rainstorm with his ex-wife, the scene where he's stargazing with pamela, the scene on the rooftop with Liz, the scenes with the neighbors when his sister thinks she's going into labor, the scene where he goes on a date after seeing a homeless man get decapitated by a car, the scenes with Doug Stanhope's character when he's saying his goodbyes before he kills himself, i mean this show is so deeply human that it actually hurts how it can so precisely hit you right where you live. This show tackles issues that are so important and yet so difficult to describe, which is exactly what art is, right? Art, to me, attempts to illustrate an essential part of life that was once abstract or hidden from us. What this show accomplishes in its finite runtime is absolutely incredible and cannot be applauded enough for.

The Hindu's believe that our life is a dream just like our sleeping dreams. But also that this dream is a pre written story. And this story has all the aspects of an entertaining story. Including the drama of heart break.

True love is built to last forever. Anything less than that was never love in the first place.
The part they don't tell you is that ONE person can feel this love and another does not.
It doesn't mean happy endings are love. It also doesn't mean sad endings aren't. They both are.

Heartbreak is the price we pay for love. There i now way to avoid it. Even you you stay together till the end of your life, you still lose them forever, the day you both die.

Except the fact that almost any strong energy created almost never dies it carries on in some way. Wether it's in the form of a child or a something you changed in the universe thru love . Love always conquers the bad. So live in love and appreciate every gift you experience.

Honestly, there wasn't a better way to write this character into the story. Louie is a sad guy, but he knows nothing about suffering an inescapable horrific fate or being numb to emotional experiences. Who better than a doctor to deliver the message?

I hope my son, cause of course my son never will listen when he will be a teenager, I hope my little heart will find this 3:00 minute piece when the first love comes to him. He will never take care in thar time for what his millenial father could say to comfort him, BUT to the allmighty internet, he will listen, he will listen for good.

You might be one of the only people who have watched this scene who isn't a classic idiot. Everyone misses the point completely. He's a loser and will stay that way because he doesn't ever allow himself to self-reflect.

Just to be able to FEEL something ! (I’ve had heartache that kept me in a state of grief every day for two whole years, 20 years have passed and that same woman contacted me not so long ago and I couldn’t be bothered ( for the right reasons ). Made me reflect how utterly transient and “disposable” Being In Love really is. The ultimate unshakable and indestructible love I have is for my two grown children and the utter devotion and love I have for my grandchildren)
