    Thanks for lending your trusted ear to these, I’ve been looking at a pair of openfits and was extremely pleased you did a review as it’s not necessarily an audiophile category. Thanks heaps Lachy, going and purchasing a pair.

    Thanks for being so thorough. Not sure how loud y'all need to listen to your music/content, but I comfortably have my bonephone at minimum while in bed and often hang them under my jaw.. I admit I'm surprised that the Fit has the least leakage... If the Shokz pro is the best bonephone you've heard, I recommend the G7. I've only found it on Ebay...

    wow, nice review Lachlan. Very thorough and informative. I've never thought about trying an air-phone as i've been so wrapped up with IEMs & Headphones, but now you've got me thinking about a very specific use case I have that could benefit from this technology.

    "Super fantastic, wonderful new product"😅👍
    That said I really like these during workouts, cycling and other activities where I need to hear my surroundings. It really feels like a different pathway or bandwidth is being used so that mostly the sound isn't covering anything in my environment. No headphone or the LinkBuds do that in a comparable way.

      They may yet, but they might also be aware of the drawbacks that still prevent the device from achieving full range audio and a properly balanced frequency response.

      I know of brands like Unique Melody and even Raptgo and Thieaudio I think are doing some. They're more traditional, sealed in IEMs though.

    The fact that there are no volume buttons on the OpenFit will be an exclusion criterion for athletes. The OpenRun Pro, on the other hand, can be operated in a variety of ways even without a cell phone.

    • @PassionforSound
      @PassionforSound  11 місяців тому +1

      That's a fair point. Are you saying that easily found touch buttons (i.e. not fiddly) aren't ok for volume adjustment?

    • @freedolean
      @freedolean 11 місяців тому +1

      @@PassionforSound The user manual states that the volume can only be adjusted on the connected mobile phone. I use an older Shokz Bone Conduction headset for running, and I wouldn't want to be without the ability to adjust the volume directly on the earbuds.

    • @PassionforSound
      @PassionforSound  11 місяців тому +2

      That's completely understandable. I didn't specifically check that and assumed it would be one of the control options in the settings. I tend to not use controls on earphones much (beyond play/pause) so didn't think too even check that, but I totally get where you're coming from!

    The OpenFit’s are simply amazing! I have been truly impressed with both comfort,security, and sound quality. The bass response is incredible. The power of these truly surprised me as well. Shokz hit a Homerun with the OpenFits!!!

    • @stevenreinholt9903
      @stevenreinholt9903 11 місяців тому +1

      I agree that they're great, but they fall short in a few ways too. No LDAC/APTXHD, no sensors for automatic mono audio if only one bud is in, they're a fingerprint magnet, and they're tougher to wear with glasses than my OpenRun Pro.

    • @PassionforSound
      @PassionforSound  11 місяців тому +2

      Glad you're enjoying them, Ronald! Sorry to hear about your challenges, Steven.
      I'm a non-glasses wearer so couldn't comment on that part, but I think the whole point of these is that you don't need to wear just one earpiece because both ears remain largely unobstructed. Of course, if you still want to, that's your choice - just sharing where I imagine the designers were headed with that one.
      Also, with codecs, I didn't end up mentioning this in the review, but the OpenRock Pro from OneOdio has aptX HD and it doesn't really help them be better than the OpenFit so it doesn't seem to really prevent them performing well anyway.

    • @stevenreinholt9903
      @stevenreinholt9903 11 місяців тому

      @@PassionforSound I appreciate your input! That makes sense. I occasionally wear one earpiece at work when I want to be even more aware of when clients walk in, or if I want to appear to be more aware for my co-workers. I do this with my XM4's and Galaxy Buds2 Pro's. I can see why this feature wouldn't be necessary, but I would appreciate and use it.
      It's a bit relieving to hear APTHD doesn't have as much of a benefit in Openrock over the Openfit. APTXHD and LDAC has substantial improvements in other IEMs and headphones I've used with my BTR7 so I've thought those Codecs should be a given, but maybe it's okay to be without them for these types of products.

      @@PassionforSound sir when one considers that this is first Generation it really shows the importance of their quality in design and functionality! I expect the shokz to come down in price soon they are selling the unit in bulk to medium sized distributors @100USD/unit. And they are making plenty of profit at that price.

      It's a rather different experience when your hearing isn't limited while using these. I can listen to podcasts etc, but still notice the baby starting move during a nap behind a wall or two. No open back gives the same functionality and even the fully open buds from Sony are nowhere close. The sound quality is rather poor though.
