I miss Jukka playing drums. He was so animated and expressive. It was like he was "Dancing with the drums" not just playing them, while still beating them like they owe him money.
Jukka is one of the drummers that not only nails the beat to the ground, locking in the whole band, but in this track you see and hear him playing a tune on the toms at the same time. Definitely one of the best behind a drum set.
I've always said that I prefer Jukka over Kai, although Kai was his teacher and is technically better. Jukka always played the drums as if his life depended on it, while Kai is like "Yeah, I can do that".
🤩👍💥💯🎼 Catchy tune with heck of a catchy chorus, indeed... The whole band is tight AF on stage, day by day, month after another, from year to year. That night they performed for 82 000 music lovers from all around the wörld. For the first time a Finnish band as a headliner and the closing ´act´ at in Wacken Open Air(2013). Despite all the enthusiasm, excitement and pressure to perform the set list with honor, the performance in question turned out to be a memorable masterful show where everything seemed to fall into place. Neat reaction ladies and keep on rockin´ with this magical band. Greets from Finland. 🤘😎💙🎶
Hello again, ladies. Huge Nightwish fan from Phoenix back here again for you. Floor is incredible and the way she can manipulate the crowd is unmatched. Love this performance and your reactions.
Tuomas (keyboards/primary songwriter) likes themes of stories and childhood innocence, and mentions of Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland tells you that he is a Disney fan, also is a composer Hans Zimmer fan. The song comes from the Imaginaerum album, which this tour was for. Recorded with the 2nd lead singer, Anette Olzon, who has more of a pop/rock style. The operatic part near the end was done solely with the choir in studio, as those aren't in her wheelhouse. A you see, Floor is very good at them, so she joined in with the choral backing track. Imaginaerum is their 7th album, the first single ,"Perfume of the Timeless", from the upcoming 10th album, Yesterwynde, came out 2 days ago.
At the time I first listened to and watched this performance and song, I had only listened to Ghost Love Score and this one. This si the song that turned me into an immediate fan
Loved your reavtion. This song is from their Imaginaerium album, a concept album base on an old composer on his death bed relieving the memories of his life. One of Tuomas's favorite topics or themes in his music is lost innocence. As a poet and artist Tuomas values the sense of wonder and imagination that innocent children have. In Storytime the composer is remembering the joy he got from childhood tales, thus the references to Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland (Tuomas often uses literary references in his lyrics and as inspiration for songs). It is through these childhood stories that we discover ourselves and who we are (I am the story that will read you real). Song is inspired by a popular British Christmas movie The Snowman. Storytime" was born when Tuomas wondered why no-one had made a remake of the film, and pondered on what his version of the score to the scene in which "Walking in the Air" plays would sound like. To quote Tuomas ""How would it feel to take a midnight flight with a snowman through the most wondrous landscapes, like in the classic animated Yuletide film? The meaning of our very existence is created though stories, tales and imagination. They are at the very core of humanity." Walking on the Air is a very popular Christmas song in the UK and Finland and Nightwish did a beautiful cover of it with their first singer Tarja that is worth reacting to.
82000+ people. Get this, Wacken is a relatively small town at 9000 people. They get free tickets. When I went to the concert, I took a bus from another town. Make sure to watch other NW songs - they will not disappoint. GLS was near the end of the concert. The bass guitar player also sings (he's no longer in the band, but you should watch him). Look for "Ghost River", "Ever Dream", and at the Tampere, Finland concert "The Islander".
Singers sing what they can, Floor Jansen sings what she wants ❤once she sang the phonebook in a Dutch radioshow ❤and It sound like a real song ❤her voice just touch your soul and grab your heart ❤she is one of a kind ❤our Valkyrie queen ❤
Drummer Jukka is using a click track, so he is waiting for the sign to hit, and his style is very expressive, like he is riding his chariot into the battle.
I'm not certain about the exact number, but I believe it was around 80.000 people there at Wachen Metal Festival. The funny part is, Wachen is a small town with around 2000 people in Germany, so you could imagine how it is being "invaded" by so many people, but also imagine how much money that generate for that Town to have that amount of people, even if its just for a week and lets imagine every one bought lets say a 6-pack or similar, and a Hot-dog. thats quite a boost to the Locals.
🤘Thank you for continuing your journey! Whatever you will listen inbetween. Please don't miss the Greatest show on earth 2015 ( Tampere or Wembley) BEFORE the new single Perfume of the timeless.
Great reaction! Great song! Fantastic group! I seen this in so many other songs hundreds of times being reacted to just love them. FYI …Wacken pronounced : Vockin as it rhymes with Rockin 🤟❤️ New subscriber - Nightwish Army Florida Division
'Wacken' is indeed pronounced with a 'V', but phonetically the 'a' is also pronounced with an 'ah' sound, as in "love" and "darling". It is a small town in Germany, and German names do not have any US 'twang' in its pronunciation of vowels.
Almost ladies. Yes a V, but also an a sound like rockin. So Vah-ken. No worries. A Nightwish concert is all about crowd participation. You will see it in many of their live performances. Jukka (drums sits very low behind his set and move to the beat like a cougar waiting to pounce. 82000 fans at this show.
One of my top Nightwish favorites. This song with Jukka's drumming..hits me every time. But even harder the song "Song Of Myself". that Jukka's drumming... it does not get any better. I hope Jukka is doing better today, I really really miss him playing drums and his style. Many reactors comment Floor Jansen as Goddess, yes she fits Nightwish role perfectly. But I always remember Jukka. When I first saw Nightwish in my life I saw Jukka, his bandana scarf...I told myself I need to get that similar style. So I have 7 different bandanas 😄thanks to Jukka. Those who are not familiar with Nightwish, well Tuomas (keyboards) is the master mind. But please take attention to Jukka's style and his drumming. In many songs he is doing that twirling with those sticks. If anyone can make drumming art it is Jukka.
For an American band you might not have seen, watch for Lilliac, a band made up of all siblings that covered "Enter Sandman" (Metallica), "Holy Diver" (Dio), and also has their own releases including "Sail Away" (not the one you may think of).
82 thousand plus eating out of Floors hands lol. Jukka the drummer is very talented some people Nickname the pirate he's so animated as a drummer. Sadly he stopped drumming for Nightwish as he suffered from Insomnia and often had bad migraines. He still works for the band but behind the scenes. His friend ex Wintersun drummer Kai is now there drummer.
I have seen this 100s of times - still gives me chills - just BRILLIANT.
I miss Jukka playing drums. He was so animated and expressive. It was like he was "Dancing with the drums" not just playing them, while still beating them like they owe him money.

Love Jukka, he's on his kit like he is riding a Harley
Floor Jansen is an amazing performer. LOVE her voice.
She's absolutely on a league on her own, it's insane.
