@@purpledrakefishing Awesome and good for you! I'm heading to Wyoming mid- to end of June - Cody and Sheridan. Absolutely cannot wait. Ever fished that area? Tight lines!
@@patsheridan Haven't fished in Wyoming before, but I have been eyeing it recently. The North Fork Shoshone and Clark Fork near Cody look like great walk & wade fishing. In fact, Wyoming seems better in general for the walk/wade fisherman than Idaho & Montana. Those states best rivers seem to be primarily drift boat fishing and very crowded (e.g., Madison, South Fork Snake, ect).
@@purpledrakefishing Agreed. Looking forward to fishing the rivers and streams in the mountains around Sheridan. Tons of options in Wyoming for waders.
Hi Anatoliy--too bad the river upstream didn't seem to hold many fish. It looked like poaching took a toll on it (lots of worm cups and beer cans) though it is catch n release for half the year.
I live on the NV side of the east Walker and it's just been too windy for anything at all much less fishing. And for this time of year it's been quite cold. Freezing temps again last night. In the beginning of the week I was in Bishop but didn't do any fishing. I dropped off a trailer that I'll be using this summer. Now I don't have to tow it back and forth. So this year it's going to be The owens River and the East Walker for me and like I said to you last time, going to try to learn something about fly fishing. So now I'm looking for a beginers rig. Any suggestions?
There are lots of options nowadays for a beginning setup, but I would reccomend one from Cabelas (cabelas or st croix band). The Cabelas's Bighorn setup for $100 looks decent and is cheap--I would go for a 4wt as a 5wt is overkill for most trout fishing. You can always get a nicer setup later once you get the hang of things. Lower Owens if you didn't know already, is tough or impossible/dangerous to fish in the summer due to high slows but he upper owens is great then. Hopefully the East Walker will be fishable most of the summer but I am guessing it will get too hot/low by sometime in July.
@@purpledrakefishing I've been fishing the lower Owens for 40 years now LOL. And I fell in once due to the undercut giving away. I thought I would drown that time. I have yet to fish the east Walker on the CA side. Going to try it soon. Thanks for the info on the Bihorn rig and I will go with 4wt.
Yes, it is quite traveled, LOL. I need to replace the webbing one of these days. One of the repairs for a hole in the net was from a piece of cord that held some pliars I found on the Madison last year.
Goodonya for taking care of your pet. Getting skunked is just a part of fishing, it's not all "tight lines" and cold beer, sometimes you got pay a toll.
Thanks J Red--Goldie is very dear to me and I thought the worse before I was able to get him to the vet/hospital. Hopefully I got all my skunks out of the way for this year 🍻
I really really hope you know your line is crossed over your rod right before the spool, that for 1 is a very rookie mistake, most definitely when it goes Absolutely unnoticed, which will also make your fish feel twice the size, 😂🤣...........C'MON BRO!?!?!
DUDE!! 3:00 in , START FISHING ALREADY!! Just name the spot. Do you REALLY think it's that BIG of a secret!!?? You're from CALIFORNIA and you found it... BIG SECRET!!!
Hey Drake, I am absolutely addicted to your truckee river fishing man. I look forward to seeing one on your channel! Please put up more!!!!:)
Thanks Lucas! I have moved my channel over to "Fishing With Drake" Please subscribe 🍻 I will be back fishing the Truckee this fall.
For sure, I will be back on the Truckee this Fall! Hopefully the drought this year doesn't impact the fishing like it did back in 2015.
I fished the EW on the cali opener also
How did it go for you?

Hi OFFF! Yes, currently in Idaho but will be back and forth from there and Reno this Summer/Fall. Will be fishing the Mother's Day Caddis very soon.
