Such an inspiring and beautiful video!! Thank you so much for sharing this! I would love to do this track with my boyfriend one day, just one question: do you have to use specific camping sites or did you wild camp?
If we were in small towns, we used the campground there. Otherwise we wild camp. There were some national parks where it was not allowed to camp. In those cases we camped either at a cabin or stelth camp.
Hey Art! Thanks! I'm glad to hear that the video inspired you :) I made a log every day and it is in the digital diary, in Norwegian. If you want I can send it to you, then you can use google translation to translate into your language.
Hello! Loved the video, thank you for sharing! My sister and I are planning on hiking the GR5 either this or next summer and I have 2 questions. From the video, it looks like there are frequent water sources, did you find they were enough to be able to refill bottles once a day? And, did you experience any storms/what did you do to avoid being caught in them? Again, lovely video, we really enjoyed watching it :))
Thank you Anna. I`m glad you loved the video :) Yes, there are frequent of water sources and we had no issue with that. We hardly carry more than one liter each. There were days with rain and some wind, but no storms. We used poncho when it was rain and wind. There were sometimes thunderstorms coming towards us, but luckily, we did not get caught in some. We avoided camping on ridges or other exposed areas if we expected thunderstorms.
Wow! We are staying in Aspremont up from Nice this summer and the GR5 runs right by our Villa. Everyday we meet people like you passing along our house and some stop to ask for water. We are having such wonderful conversations. It’s the first time we’ve ever heard about this trail so I looked online and found your video. Now I am 100% inspired and so motivated to do this with my young boys who are 19 & 21. I have a question - can we take our dog along on this route ? Did you see anyone with a dog ? Warm regards x Pia
I say one girl hiking with a dog (Welsh Corgi) on Tour du Mont Blanc trail. But, I belive that there are restrictions in national parks areas to keep marmots safe.
Well done! It's fantastic... It's my dream to do it this way... but for the moment, with the kids, very complecated to leave 3 weeks... Did you sleep well every night like this?
Thank you. :) When the children grow up, you get the opportunity. Remember to take it. We slept in the tent every night and we slept very well every night.
