@@riteshnalmar8345 I wish you the best in your future career, in the past four months I’ve started thinking more about the army but I still love all three Chicago’s. They’ll always be my favourite
@Suprathatis Yeah clearly, and if you were to read before commenting you would’ve seen my reply to the other person. I’m not going for a firefighter anymore and also, why do you think I called it a “show”? I clearly know that shows are nothing like real life.
Matko Mašić these are actors so what they do is they put makeup on one side for one seen and then they take it off and put some more on for a different seen
It might be a good show but at a firefighter, a lot of the scenarios and just skills being used are inaccurate. I wish I could watch it but it just pisses me off most of the time
Amazing scene. Anyone else noticed that this was filmed in Waukegan,IL on their Amstutz hwy? That’s where my dad would take me for driving lessons.. there is much film history on those amstutz, like Batman, contagion, and I believe even Groundhog Day and Transformers?
_One_ of the biggest for me. _Alarm für Cobra 11_ has one much bigger than that in one of their recent episodes ("Kollision"), and you even get to see it happening.
It's not so much her dead body weight, but because she may have recieved a major spinal injury. That requires not just brute strength, but the upmost care, which is why head restraints are such as to avoid the casualty moving their head and neck _at all_ , to prevent possible further injury/damage. With a spinal chord injury, even the slightest jolt can cause severe pain, to say nothing of making said injury worse. Hence they carried her like she was a large case of eggs, because you can't tell how fragile her spine is/was, nor how much pain she was in. From my first aid training, pain relief is rarely given in the field, unless it is severe, to prevent it masking other injuries. Besides, specific drugs are often dosed mg/ml/kg body mass, or m^2 surface area, if my memory serves, which ever is the easiest to measure ... I happen to know this because, three days after receiving surgery to correct my scoliosis, I had a gaggle of porters, and nurses, transfer me, and the bed I was in, from the ICU, to the ward, in the lift. Even the smallest bump went straight up my spine, so they literally had to lift one end of the bed over the 2mm difference in height that people don't notice between the inner and outer lift doors, because even the wheels hitting that, and the gap in-between, was enough to shake the entire bed just to enough ... and yes, even on strong pain meds, that hurt; not enough to make me scream, but a muffled moan through me biting my lips was enough to cause the nurse in charge to apologise, especially after the thud as the lift came to a hault ... ouch doesn't come close ... ... heck, they had to put me on a 24/7 pethidine drip, to numb the pain of having had had spinal surgery; stronger than morphine but not quite as strong as fentanyl ... that they only give to burn victims, or in patients where pethidine doesn't do squat ... Hence so many firefighters ... they had to move swiftly, but not in haste, and to make sure that the backboard she was on staid as stable as possible, with as little jerky movements as possible ...
Man, when I was four I witnessed a accident like this, I think this is the man reason I’m not driving because I was terrified, there was a newborn baby girl in one of the cars, no one was injured thankfully but it terrified me
Same when I was 9 I got into a car crash and I was in a wheelchair for a few months luckily no one apart from me was majorly injured (a few cuts and brusies but that's it)
You don’t want to really use foam unless you absolutely have to because it can turn into a HAZMAT situation due to the chemicals in the foaM which are bad for the environment

Like all pile ups ... Two cars collide, a third hits that mess, and before you know it you got a domino effect, due to other vehicles not being able to brake in time ... Thank God that, in this, a major fire didn't start, because that is the stuff that gives firefighters nightmares. I use to know two retired firefighters, who used to share 'war stories' except when it came to mass casualties events, involving infernos. Main reason ...? The smell ... especially of burning human flesh ...
The first pile up may have happened if the cars were all driving too close together at high/ish speeds, it only takes one person to hit the brakes or make a mistake and everyone will react. The other side will have been rubberneckers trying to see what happened on the other side.
I kinda know what you mean ... I used to volunteer with a couple of retired firefighters who use to share old 'war stories' about incidents they've been to, including one fire where this one guy literally had to pour the sweat out of his boots, as it got that hot ... But the one thing they're are reluctant to talk about is mass casualty incidents, especially involving fire, such as a severe pile up. The one thing that gives them nightmares is the smell ... I need not tell you that some smells are unmistakable, that not even several showers will clean you off of. In some cases, you may have to get a entire new uniform, including bunker gear, because it is tainted with _that_ smell ... Sadly, I was too short, and knew I could never pass the fitness standards, to even think about joining up. But, if you are a serving firefighter, then I thank you for your service. Firefighters and EMTs/Paramedics are far too often unsung heroes of the First Responders, who get overlooked, yet whose duty is also to serve and protect, despite getting little in the way of reward.
