Voight nowadays is a very bland character compared to who he was in the early seasons; now he literally almost only pops up in the episodes giving cliche orders to the team and sitting in his office behind his desk, while back then he was a total badass, constantly meeting Chicago criminals to do his masterful dirty games and protect the city, he had family which made things more interesting (Justin, Erin), and he took part in action way more than today on the show. Same with Jay: if you rewatch the show, Jay was freaking badass (his fight with the Latin Kings gang member in 1x11 is still the best fight in the Chicago PD history), he had his trademark, sarcastic sense of humor, he was great with Erin, and he had great friendship and banter with both Antonio and Mouse, and with Ruzek as well! And he was absolutely on the same page with Voight by season 3. Yet since mid-season 7 the stupid new producers and the new writers came on board, and literally retconned and changed most of the characters and the tone of the entire show. The whole show became toned down and less badass because of the George Floyd case, and the pressure from the public to tone down the show, which they did. Jay and Voight in particular became the victims of this change. They started once again writing Jay and Voight fighting when this didn't make sense because Jay and Voight were only getting closer earlier. Then the humor totally disappeared from the show, the show is just dark and depressing now, while back in the early years it was dark and badass but balanced with brilliant humor and lighter scenes (just watch Chicago PD humor videos-edits here on UA-cam, you will get what I mean). And btw, this is also why the Jay actor - Jesse Lee Soffer - left the show. He said himself, in various interviews, 3-4 years before leaving, that he wanted Jay to become closer to Voight, and he wasn't very enthusiastic about the writers giving Jay yet another workplace romance, but the producers and writers did exactly the opposite of this, so the opposite of what the actor wanted, lol. So no wonder he left. My point is, that everything was better on PD during the first six years: couples, writing of the characters, and writing of the criminal cases. And this is why Linstead was the best too: the writing was just in general so much better back then, that the writers actually knew how to write couples and romance. Nowadays it's all dull and ridiculous drama when it comes to most couples. Yeah, they reunited Burzek and now they are finally stable but it took them too long for my taste, like 8 years of back and forth and the longest time when nothing romantic was between them, and them sleeping with other cops on the show (Kim with Roman and Ruzek with Upton) - so, for me, when they finally put them back together it was too little, too late, and I didn't care anymore.

5:20 I flinched so hard

SWAT TV show: SWAT vs Firemen Killer
Chicago PD: Cops vs Cop Killer
The fact that when a cop gets shot they get the swat team. But when a civilian gets shot a singular cop car shows up?
These cops weren’t just shot. They were executed. The shooter got them from a distance. Wasn’t seen
9:16 that's a lot of guns and ammo
The fact that they were trying to deal with an active shooter with a single thin vest and not a damn helmet or anything else is insane.
Helmet? man cops don't use helmets unless it is for SWAT or Crowd Control. To add, a helmet will not stop a bullet.
I love all the Chicago PD episodes❤❤❤
There was a guy like this on the loose in my town recently who killed one cop and wounded another.
I thought the perp on that tall apt building was going to parachute off the roof.
This could happen in real life, no wonder cops are always jittery.
8:58 bro really said 🤓
0:19. Like don't take cover or nothin....
Rest in peace for the police officer😔😔
i love so mich chicago pd
They clearly never watched red vs blue when Grif saves Sarge by getting him CPR after he got shot in the head.

How long has he had this raspy, veteran voice? I wonder how he sounded like when he was 20 or 25.
Jay words were so badass “do it or we will light u up”
This was a freaky episode, like if you think of if you were a cop, (which some of their audience may be law enforcement) and to think of that ever happening 😳
wth you talking about? It DID happen, here in Dallas Texas 7-7-16 11 Cops shot, 5 killed 4 Dallas Police Officers and 1 Dallas Area Rapid Transit Police Officer. The Dallas Police Ambush. Anytime you say 7-7 everyone knows what you are talking about. Every year there is a ceremony. There is a plaque outside DPD Headquarters
Missed this episode when it showed. What was the perp's motives?
Thank you for your services to all real life police officers. I hate it when you go through this type of stuff every day. 😢
they don't go through this every day but keep kissing ass lol
You must have forgotten about what the SS did to us with coivd

More dangerous being a pizza delivery guy
They used to do this back in the day in real life Chicago
