"and once you're past Palm Springs and into the high desert, people start to vibrate at a different pitch than they do elsewhere." The man could write.
Dude was a fantastic writer! There were famous scribes that were jealous of his prowess because they busted their asses for years to perfect their craft and good ol Tony said "writing just comes natural to me." Go figure right? Lol. The man was Brilliant indeed
Read a comment under a recent video of QOTSA playing "Regular John": "The greatest first song on a first album ever." They're not wrong 🖤🖤🖤 I get as excited hearing those opening chords now as I did 1472 listens ago!
I remember laughing at that intro where Anthony breaks Josh's guitar years before I knew QOTSA. Then years after they became my favourite band I ran into an episode of the show, saw the intro again and got my mind blown
Yep. This was his best opening sequence (among many excellent ones) - and the Lanegan closing montage to the final Seattle episode was a seriously different and nearly equally great closer. He allowed some pretty enjoyable creativity in the production of his shows. It'd be interesting to learn more about the push-pull between Tony's creativity and ego and the talents/desires of his production team.
Been looking for that episode all over. It is nowhere to be found (in a viewable quality) :( So it seems we have lost an essential part of contemporary rock'n roll culture... :(
Does anyone know where exactly is that ''sky cafe'' where Anthony and Josh ate the breakfast after hard drinking when Josh said that he feels like his hangover's passing. PLS I can't find any information about this place and the food looked pretty awesome
From my research it's somewhere in Yucca Valley, California (right next to Joshua Tree). Probably near the Sky Village Swap Meet. If you plan to visit the place you can ask around in the Yucca Valley once you get there (it's a relatively small place). Some of the locals definately know.
Sonic Prayer ... I kinda agree. I posted a link on twitther that showed him speaking out for the Palestinians. His relationship with Asia Argento and other political snd cultural leanings, I think he was getting the wrong kind of attention. With travelling and critical thinking comes awareness and knowlege.
...and spoke out against Henry Kissinger??!!! whew!! He was involved in some heavy sh*t. The supposed me too crap movement was only the tip of the iceberg.
So so sad, I thought I couldn’t be more heartbroken when Chris Cornell committed suicide but not Anthony Bourdain? What the fuck is going on ? I really am starting to wonder if when the demons come back and knock at your door , it’s too much to bare it all and go down recovery road again. And I can speak from experience because out of no where you will crave your old poison . I’m not saying that is why for both of those guys but if i had to speculate, money, drugs and easy access. It’s a terrible combination. I don’t judge either but there are some things we all have inside we want to tell people but can’t . It’s such a sad day . I loved watching him , his intellect and sense of humor and self deprecating humor too! Getting involved with Hollywood didn’t seem to be his fit but hey, if it made him happy, I’m guessing all in all he was done. He made his mark and just was ready to put a punctuation mark at the end! He was a good one, so was CC and Chester Bennington. I will refrain from a very inappropriate statement and say Shine Bright, You will be missed forever more! 🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🌚🌚🌚🥀🥀🥀

the music, the mexican food, tequila, great cars, the integratron, queens of the stone age,...! best episode ever
That little voice crack Josh has when he says "cherry" as Anthony tears the guitar from his hands is amazing
So emasculating 😂
This song has taken permanent residence in my brain since my first view. Some people just vibrate at a different pitch. Love this on every level.
Opening up with regular john.
The greatest desert rock song ever written.

They did Animal House justice...
Kyuss > QOTSA... just sayin. If you like QOTSA, you'll probably LOVE Kyuss.
Dale, don't be a douche. It's not a competition.
Are you in 8th grade or something?
Best tribute to the rock star chef.
And thank you JH and QOTSA.
One of the greatest episodes in Television history. Another great storyteller gone too soon. R I P Tony

R.I.P. Anthony Bourdain. So saddened to hear of your early passing. Loved your show. Loved your commentary. You will be missed.
we will be missing you Tony
My favourite part of this is right when Anthony pulles the guitar out of Josh's hands and his voice goes up as he sings 'cherrYYY' :)
Rest in peace , Tony :(
RIP, Tony! I've learned so much from you.

The guitar being smashed and apologising seemed to parody animal house.

Anthony was Arkancided.
He was very vocal in speaking out about Weinstein..
They made an example out of him..
Sonic Prayer no. He was a guy with a history of depression. If you ever had a serious case of it, you'd understand.
...and spoke out against Henry Kissinger??!!! whew!! He was involved in some heavy sh*t. The supposed me too crap movement was only the tip of the iceberg.
@@GUITARTIME2024 you see the thing about people with depression is they think they’re the only ones with depression.
@@in2ta agreed.
Regular Tony.
how hard is it to write with :D
Mescaline.
Bat country
